  1. wicket

WICKETpublished at 17:39 BST 8 May

    Hose b Stokes 59 (Worcestershire 149-5 v Durham)

Ben Stokes strikes again! The England captain picks up his second of the day by removing Adam Hose following a long weather delay at New Road.

2-24 with three maidens from nine overs. Worth the wait, you might say....

  2. wicket

WICKETpublished at 17:39 BST 8 May

    Wharton c Yates b Thompson 40 (Warwickshire 147 v Yorkshire 101-4)

    Bears break this important partnership!

Jordan Thompson makes the breakthrough in his second over against his former side, dismissing James Wharton.

An important wicket for the hosts.

  3. 50 runs

50 partnership for Brook & Whartonpublished at 17:35 BST 8 May

    Warwickshire 147 v Yorkshire 95-3

The arrival of Harry Brook, batting alongside James Wharton, seems to have settled Yorkshire down and they are accumulating nicely.

We've had so many wickets today that it feels like the first time in the entire contest that two batters have really established any sort of meaningful partnership.

If they can stay in, these two could move the game away from Warwickshire but a couple of Bears wickets would change the complexion on things.

  4. wicket

WICKETpublished at 17:30 BST 8 May

    Robson c Jones b Anderson 6 (Lancs 201 v Middlesex 12-1)

Breakthrough for Lancashire - and it's Jimmy Anderson, inevitably!

Anderson finds the edge of Sam Robson's bat and Michael Jones juggles before securing a catch at slip, bringing Max Holden to the middle.

Lancashire would love a few more wickets before stumps...

  5. new ball

Surrey take new ballpublished at 17:28 BST 8 May

    Notts 277-7 v Surrey

Surrey have been performing pretty well with the old ball since tea, but they won't be sentimental about it - the new one is available and they'll hope to use it to wrap up this Nottinghamshire innings.

Gus Atkinson gets first use of the second one, with 16 overs left tonight.

  6. wicket

WICKETpublished at 17:28 BST 8 May

    Holland c sub b Carter 63 (Sussex v Leics 282-8)

    Oh Ian Holland!

He’d played well to get Leicestershire into a nice spot after tea in a stand of 73 with Tom Scriven.

But he’s thrown it away and lifted James Coles into the hands of long-on.

He knows it’s a big error. Two overs before the second new ball too.

  7. dropped catch

Dropped catchpublished at 17:28 BST 8 May

    Somerset 286-6 v Glamorgan

A big chance gone for Glamorgan and Colin Ingram, who can't hold on to a big attempted cut from Lewis Gregory!

It looked a decent height as well.

  8. wicket

WICKETpublished at 17:23 BST 8 May

    Walter c Brown b Abbott 5 (Essex 19-1 v Hants 235)

Sunshine at Chelmsford and bright for Essex after a good job with the ball.

But they’ve lost Paul Walter as Kyle Abbott gets him caught behind.

    15 overs remain.

  9. Postpublished at 17:21 BST 8 May

    Lancs 201 v Middlesex 8-0

Not the easiest situation for Ben Geddes to make his first appearance opening the innings for Middlesex, with the conditions somewhat bowler-friendly and England's record Test wicket-taker leading the attack.

It's Tom Bailey, though, who has sent down the most testing deliveries at the start of this Middlesex reply, with a couple of close calls for Geddes before he gets off the mark with a straight drive for four.

  10. Postpublished at 17:20 BST 8 May

    Warwickshire 147 v Yorkshire 67-3

Yorkshire will be fairly pleased with their progress at present.

That Harry Brook six aside, the runs are not exactly flowing easily and every one scored seems quite hard-earned.

Brook and James Wharton (27*) have added 42 together and that's comfortably the highest partnership of the contest.

  11. 'A little bit of fortune about that but Brook gets six'published at 17:17 BST 8 May

    Warwickshire 147 v Yorkshire 67-3

    Richard Wilford
    BBC Radio WM commentator

It’s going all the way for six. The umpire raises his arms but that was only 10 yards on the inside of the third man fielder and that could have been a chance, so a little bit of fortune about that but Brook gets six.

  12. Postpublished at 17:13 BST 8 May

    Notts 270-7 v Surrey

Fergus O'Neill is doing exactly what Nottinghamshire need him to - sticking around at the crease after that clatter of wickets.

That's giving Joe Clarke, the last recognised batter, the opportunity to try and bolster the total and he's just clipped Jordan Clark for a welcome leg-side four.

The home side will be hopeful of at least climbing above 300, although the new ball is available in four overs' time. Dan Worrall will presumably be licking his lips...

  13. Postpublished at 17:12 BST 8 May

    Worcs 149-4 v Durham

    Stephan Shemilt
BBC Sport cricket correspondent at New Road

The covers are coming off at New Road. The hope is play will resume at 17:35.

  14. 250 runs

up for Leicestershirepublished at 17:08 BST 8 May

    Sussex v Leics 254-7

Quiet progress for Leicestershire since tea after losing two quick wickets just before the break.

Ian Holland is onto 44 and Tom Scriven, 29, is proving a solid ally.

Can they nudge up towards 300?

Seven overs until the second new ball.

  15. LANCS ALL OUT FOR 201published at 17:02 BST 8 May

    Green b Morgan 35 (Lancs 201 v Middlesex)

Sebastian Morgan finishes off the Lancashire innings by clipping the top of Chris Green's stumps and that rounds off a strong display with the ball from Middlesex.

Morgan finishes with 3-41, with Toby Roland-Jones taking 3-45 and Ryan Higgins 3-48 and the visitors will be very pleased with that outcome after putting Lancashire in this morning.

With that said, Middlesex will have 26 overs to negotiate tonight in reply.

  16. Batting worries for Hampshirepublished at 16:59 BST 8 May

    Essex 1-0 v Hampshire 235

    Kevan James
    BBC Radio Solent commentator

At 216-6 at tea and with Ben Brown going well, Hampshire looked odds on to claim just a second batting bonus point of the season.

Step forward Wiaan Mulder. He claimed 3-12 and Hampshire lost their last five wickets for just 18 runs in 28 minutes.

Add in a horrible mix up in the middle where Scott Currie sacrificed himself in a run out and Hampshire have once more shown that their batting is a bit of worry

  17. Postpublished at 16:58 BST 8 May

    Warwickshire 147 v Yorkshire 50-3

    Melinda Farrell
Sports broadcaster/journalist on BBC Radio Nottinghamshire

You just can't stop the wickets falling at Edgbaston.

  18. wicket

WICKETpublished at 16:56 BST 8 May

    Stanley b Roland-Jones 1 (Lancs 197-9 v Middlesex)

Toby Roland-Jones picks up his third wicket, bowling Mitch Stanley with an inswinger - and that brings Lancashire captain Sir James Anderson to the crease.

He'll want to hang around with Chris Green, but equally he'll be relishing the thought of a bowl this evening.

  19. Postpublished at 16:55 BST 8 May

    Warwickshire 147 v Yorkshire 45-3

    Jonathan Doidge
    BBC Radio Leeds cricket commentator

He’ll (Revis) be disappointed but it wasn’t a great surprise after a lingering look from the official that the finger was raised.

He wasn’t able to get forward to the delivery. It’s probably, the official would think, going on to hit the top of leg stump

  20. wicket

WICKETpublished at 16:53 BST 8 May

    Overton c Tribe b Norton 33 (Somerset 262-6 v Glamorgan)

Tom Norton has a third County Championship wicket!

A very useful knock from Craig Overton ends as he clips Norton's delivery down the offside straight into the waiting hands of Asa Tribe.

Lewis Gregory takes to the crease with just a few more overs before the new ball becomes an option.
