Rory McIlroy is fast becoming the big golfing history maker, and tonight he could produce more as he looks to win the first two majors of the season.

And that'd be some going, as the list of golfers since 1973 to win the opening two majors of the year isn't a long one.

Golfer to win the opening two majors of the year (since 1973):

    • 2002: Tiger Woods
    • 2015: Jordan Spieth

Some players have complained about the course set-up at Aronimink this week, but it's produced an enthralling US PGA Championship so far that's wide open heading into Sunday's final round.

Alex Smalley leads by two, then we've got 23 players covered by just two shots, and overall there's 12 nationalities in the top 24 players that are all covered by just four strokes.

There'll be plenty of birdies and eagles out there today, but it's also still tough to make a score if you miss the fairway - so there should be lead changes by the second and loads of movement up and down the leaderboard.

    What more could you want?

  3. Kitiyama equals final-round recordpublished at 18:09 BST 17 May

    Kitayama -3 (63)

If you're looking up towards the top end of the leaderboard, you'll see the name of Kurt Kitayama featuring fairly prominently.

That's because the 33-year-old American is already in the clubhouse after equalling the major championship record for the lowest score in a final round - a seven-under 63.

He is only the second player to do it in the PGA Championship - joining Brad Faxon who achieved the same feat in 1995.

His round was the 21st of 63 or better in this tournament, with the record for any round being a 62, set by Xander Schauffele and Shane Lowry, both in 2024 at Valhalla.

Kitayama hit 17 of 18 greens in regulation and it was unsurprisingly his best score in 58 rounds in major championships to date.

Here we go golf fans! It's the final round of the 108th US PGA Championship and who knows who will take home the Wanamaker Trophy?

Alex Smalley leads the way at Aronimink as he looks to win a major for the first time - he's not even managed to win on the PGA Tour yet!

It's a cavalry charge behind him though with a multitude of challengers lining up, 23 of them in fact are within four shots.

Jon Rahm is joined in the chasing pack by Ludvig Aberg and Wolverhampton's Aaron Rai - with Rory McIlroy, Xander Schauffele and Patrick Reed just a shot further back.

Players will be jostling for position all day and it could just be a case of whoever's left holding the Wanamaker Trophy when the music stops.

So stay tuned tonight as this should be a frantic finish!
