  1. Oh Scottie!published at 20:17 BST 17 May

    Scheffler -2 (14)

Doesn't this just sum up Scottie Scheffler's week? As he misses a putt from just over two feet to make a three-putt bogey on 14.

That should be the end of that for the world number one.

Sorry Seb [19.57] but you can always retake your GCSEs next year. It's a thumbs up from me.

To Seb, As a teacher, do both. Physic: flight of a ball Maths: speed/angle calculation. Computing: broadcasting English: reading live text Geography: USA where? Politics: Trump who? History: last winner? Good luck!

  3. Rahm recoverypublished at 20:12 BST 17 May

    Rahm -5, Taylor -4 (3)

Jon Rahm is well wide left of the fourth fairway, and he's caught a bad lie nestling down in an area trampled down by the fans during the week.

A muscular swing sees him take a big load of turf with him on the end of his iron, but the ball finds the green so par shouldn't be an issue now.

  4. Smith moves one backpublished at 20:10 BST 17 May

    Smith -5 (9)

Several holes ahead of the final groups, Cameron Smith is in a great position to make a run and post a great target.

He hasn't made any mistakes so far and has just two-putted for birdie at the par-five ninth to move to five under with a three-under 32 on his front nine.

Don't count him out, especially with that silky putting touch!

  6. Rai bounces backpublished at 20:09 BST 17 May

    Aberg -5, Rai -5 (4)

What a response from Aaron Rai to that bogey at the third.

He's just rolled it in from 20 feet at four to cancel that out and leap back to -5.

  7. Bogey for Rahmpublished at 20:09 BST 17 May

    Rahm -5, Taylor -4 (3)

He started like a train, but Jon Rahm's been slightly derailed at the third after finding the greenside bunker and only being able to lob it out to 15 feet.

Rahm can't convert the par save from that range so he drops back to five under.

  8. Postpublished at 20:08 BST 17 May

    McIlroy -4, Schauffele -3 (5)

After an underwhelming approach from the fairway at the last, it's a wide at the par-three fifth from Rory McIlroy.

He's not quite firing on all cylinders yet, but he nudges his uphill putt to kick-in distance so he needn't worry about one of those pesky five-footer for par on this hole.

Xander Schauffele knocked it to 20 feet but he can't buy a putt at the moment and it's a fifth straight par for the 2024 champ.

  9. Schmid bounces backpublished at 20:08 BST 17 May

    Smalley -6, Schmid -4 (2)

Matti Schmid pours in a 15 footer for birdie on the second. What a bounce back that is.

That was picking up pace but the German judges the right-to-left effort to perfection.

Leader Alex Smalley, goes pin hunting with his approach but when he finds the longer grass off the edge of the left fringe he gets out of trouble with a sensational little chip to two feet to ensure a scrambling par.

    Thomas -5 (65)

That fist-pump showed what it means.

I don't think it'll be enough - but Justin Thomas would be silly to go anywhere for the next couple of hours.

Gutsy from Justin Thomas - and he knows it.

A tocuh heavy-handed with his chip leaves him 15 feet to save par and in it goes.

He gives a double fist to the crowd, a feisty "Come on!" and he'll definitely be sticking around to see if -5 gives him a chance.

For some time though - the leaders are only really at hole three.

And when we say Scottie Scheffler has a massive crowd watching him...

P.S - Golf fans, if you're about 20 rows back at a major you're camera phone video isn't going to be any good, just put it away and enjoy watching the golf!

    Rose -3 (7)

Justin Rose has had chances to birdie every single hole so far after starting in fine fashion on the first.

And he now has another on the seventh...but there's not enough gas on that up the slope and he'll instead have to settle for a sixth successive par.

It’s very hard to pick a winner right now.

I can’t wait for the back nine.

  15. Postpublished at 20:03 BST 17 May

    Thomas -5 (17)

It doesn't look like Justin Thomas is going to get himself an extra shot at the last.

Understandably aggressive off the tee, he's found the steep rough down the left side of the fairway and that kills how far he can hit his second.

He'll have to get up and down from 40 yards to save par.

  16. Birdie at last!published at 20:01 BST 17 May

    Scheffler -3 (13)

    Scottie SchefflerImage source, Getty Images

Scottie Scheffler walks off the 13th green with a look that says 'where's that been all day?'

That's because he played a bunker shot to 17 feet and then rolled in the putt for birdie after making nothing all day on the greens.

There's a huge cheer as the massive crowd following him around celebrate and at three under he's still in with a shout, but needs a few more birdies coming in.

  17. Postpublished at 20:01 BST 17 May

    McIlroy -4, Schauffele -3 (4)

Great lag from Rory McIlroy at the fourth and he taps in for par.

Xander Schauffele matches his four so on they go.

After a 325-yard beauty down the middle at four, Rory McIlroy's hand comes off his club as he sends his second on its way.

It's about 40 feet away and he'll do well to take two putts and move on.

Xander Schauffele is even further away after a weak approach from the fairway.
