  1. Burns bogeys fifthpublished at 18:58 BST 10 April

    Burns -4, Smith +5, Knapp +1 (5)

Sam Burns successfully navigates his way out of the bunker at the fifth but gets too much backspin on his approach shot to the green to leave himself with a tricky 13-foot putt for par.

On this occasion Burns comes up short. He taps in but drops a shot. How will the American respond to the setback?

Meanwhile, Cam Smith's struggles continue as bogeys the hole to go five over while Jake Knapp manages to hold par.

  2. Hatton flying highpublished at 18:56 BST 10 April

    Hatton -4 (15)

Listen to those roars. Tyrrell Hatton's approach into the 15th almost brings an eagle as he lands just past the pin and uses the spin to draw his ball towards the cup.

It eventually comes to a rest two feet away and the Englishman does the honours for his sixth birdie of the day. What a round this is.

  3. How many holes-in-one on the 12th?published at 18:54 BST 10 April

How many holes-in-one have there been on the 12th hole I hear you all cry - well, just the three actually, which shows you how tough this hole is.

Although the fourth hole is harder as there's only ever been one ace on that hole - by Jeff Sluman in 1992. A hole-in-one on the iconic 12th hole at Augusta National would be the ace of all aces though.

    Holes-in-one on the 12th:

    • Claude Harmon (1947)
    • William Hyndman (1959)
    • Curtis Strange (1988)
  4. Birdie for Fleetwoodpublished at 18:52 BST 10 April

    Reed -3, Fleetwood -1, Bhatia E (2)

    Tommy FleetwoodImage source, EPA

Tommy Fleetwood has brought his bucket and spade. He's in the sand on consecutive holes but thankfully he's in the greenside bunker on the par-five second and splashes out to nine feet with his third.

He then knocks in his birdie attempt and is back where he started. Akshay Bhatia also makes a four which is no mean feat given his second was played from in the pines.

Nowt doing for Patrick Reed, who takes a par after punching an awkard second out of a tree-lined area down the left.

  5. Birdie for Bobpublished at 18:51 BST 10 April

    Scheffler -2, MacIntyre +7, Woodland +1 (12)

Scottie Scheffler half sinks to his knees as his 25-foot birdie putt on the 12th sidles just to the left of the hole. Blow-in par.

Gary Woodland also registers a three

Here's Bob Mac for the birdie. It's about four feet. Right in the middle. No celebration though. Work still to be done. Big birdie opportunity on the par-five 13th coming up.

    Lowry -3, Day -3, Johnson E (3)

No birdies for Shane Lowry or Jason Day at the short par-four third.

Day is one of the most colourful dressers on tour. He's gone for a bold yellow-and-blue get-up today. You can pull it off if you've won a major, I suppose.

  7. Koepka closing inpublished at 18:48 BST 10 April

    Rose -4, Spieth E, Koepka -3 (13)

    Brooks KoepkaImage source, Getty Images

Justin Rose is wayward off the tee so has to lay up on the 13th, but a decent approach leaves a nice chance for birdie. It's a left-to-right slider that he can't aim high enough on and it just glides across the face of the hole.

One man who can get across Rae's Creek in two is Brooks Koepka, who fires in a long iron to the fringe, before using a sharp short game to get down in two, make his birdie and improve to three under.

Brooks is now just two back.

  8. Nearly an ace on 12published at 18:47 BST 10 April

    MacIntyre +8 (11)

Bob MacIntyre is on to the short 12th - the scene of the first of his audible sweary outbursts in round one.

He could probably be uttering another one after that tee shot - but in a good way. It's a real pin-seeker, almost in the hole in fact. If ever he needed a birdie.

  9. McIlroy under waypublished at 18:46 BST 10 April

    McIlroy -5, Young +1, Howell +5

It's been a long enough wait for Rory McIlroy today but he hammers his drive at the first over the bunkers. A huge carry. Not a bad way of shortening the hole.

He was level through his first seven holes yesterday. He'd love to lay down an early marker today.

  10. Solid start from Burnspublished at 18:43 BST 10 April

    Burns -5, Smith +4, Knapp +1 (4)

Four holes and four pars from Sam Burns but he breathes a sigh of relief a the conclusion of the fourth.

The American keeps his composure to chip out of the sand before rolling in a 21-footer to save par.

A messy hole for compatriot Jake Knapp and Aussie Cam Smith who both bogey the hole.

  11. Bob bogeypublished at 18:40 BST 10 April

    Scheffler -2, MacIntyre +8, Woodland -1 (11)

    MastersImage source, Getty Images

A terrific up-and-down by Scottie Scheffler on the 11th. A delicate chip grabs the green and stops four feet from the hole.

But Bob MacIntyre is dropping a shot. From a similar angle and distance, he misjudges his third shot and leaves himself a dozen feet for par, which he can't make.

Gary Woodland follows Scheffler with a chip and a putt for par.

  12. 'Masters still charges Rory up more than any other week'published at 18:38 BST 10 April

Watch: BBC Sport NI's Stephen Watson speaking with Brad Faxon

Eight-time PGA Tour winner Brad Faxon - Rory McIlroy's putting coach - has been speaking to BBC Sport NI's Stephen Watson at Augusta.

On McIlroy's opening 67 on Thursday:

"Rory has been working with Bob Rotella in recent years and Bob would have this idea of 'let's get looser and freer as the round goes on' and that's what he did.

"What was most impressive about Rory yesterday was he kept taking driver out on holes he didn't necessarily need it on and just kept swinging."

On what's possible for the defending champion this weekend:

"I hope he keeps the freedom with the driver. It's going to be a very difficult for everyone. It's going to be the first Masters in 25 years with no rain. Late this afternoon, it's going to be really difficult. There'll be less wind but there's no moisture.

"I still think this charges him up more than any other week. It wouldn't be surprising to see him go out and fire another five-under today."

On how to conquer Augusta's greens:

"This has always been the barometer for the fastest and most difficult greens to putt on. You have to have great imagination and nerves of steel. You have to know that you're going to look like a fool sometimes.

"If you can keep laughing about it instead of getting uptight, you'll have a better chance."

  13. DeChambeau bogeys firstpublished at 18:36 BST 10 April

    Fitzpatrick +1, Schauffele -2, DeChambeau +5 (1)

Bryson DeChambeau blunders a little with his approach to the green at the first and leaves himself a 20-footer to save par.

Matt Fitzpatrick and Xander Schauffele are a little more comfortable in collecting par.

  14. Postpublished at 18:33 BST 10 April

    Scheffler -2, MacIntyre +7, Woodland +1 (10)

Scottie Scheffler plays his first shot into Amen Corner after pulling his tee shot on the 11th a little left.

That leaves him with a treacherous second shot given the water hugging the left edge of the green. Perhaps a sensible approach from the world number one who leaves his shot 25 yards short of the green.

Robert MacIntyre asks his ball "to get lucky" as his second shot also pulls up short of the green. Gary Woodland goes long and right.

  15. Lowry misses chance on twopublished at 18:31 BST 10 April

No birdie for Shane Lowry on the par-five second.

"Get lucky somehow" he cries as he pulls his drive into the trees. After chipping out, he gives himself a chance with a smoothly struck wedge, but his downhill putt is a smidge on the tentative side and he settles for a five.

Jason Day also failed to judge the pace from the back of the green so he stays three-under, but Dustin Johnson picks up his first birdie of the day to move back to level par.

I've heard the expression 'potting them off the lampshade' in snooker but Rose using the rake on a par 3 is genius.

  17. Fleetwood makes bogey startpublished at 18:29 BST 10 April

    Reed -3, Fleetwood E, Bhatia +1 (1)

Tommy Fleetwood can't get anywhere near the putting surface from the fairway bunker on the first.

When his third runs to 13 feet it spells trouble for the FedEx Cup winner, who can't save his par.

Patrick Reed and Akshay Bhatia are both on in two, with putts for birdie and both roll up to within a foot or two as they secure pars.

  18. Momentum stufferpublished at 18:28 BST 10 April

    Rose -4, Spieth E, Koepka -2 (12)

I don't know if Justin Rose has been lucky or unlucky here on the 12th. He's certainly lucky with his tee shot that he's pumped well over the green only for the ball to get a nice bounce, possibly off the bunker rake, and out of trouble just off the green.

Rose is then unlucky though when his par putt just stays up and he drops a shot to stall all that momentum from his birdie hat-trick. He probably deserved a four from the tee ball though so call it a draw - and he'll be telling himself it's just one bad swing.

Brooks Koepka put a brilliant swing on it and he rolls in a birdie to stay well in touch and two under.

  19. Another par for Burnspublished at 18:28 BST 10 April

    Burns -5, Smith +2, Knapp E (3)

    Sam BurnsImage source, Getty Images

Sam Burns was in the mix for birdies on the opening two holes and is likewise on the third but a 15-foot putt is just shy.

    The co-leader banks another par.

However, Cameron Smith drops a shot after curling his putt for par past the hole.

  20. Stat Attack: Great McIlroy start despite missed fairwayspublished at 18:28 BST 10 April

    McIlroy -5 (18:44 BST)

Rory McIlroy scores at Augusta National

Rory McIlroy's second-best Masters start despite finding just five of 14 fairways yesterday. He's just the second player in the last decade to shoot 67 at Augusta when hitting five or fewer fairways (winner Hideki Matsuyama hit five and shot 65 in the second round in 2021).

Imagines if McIlroy can find the short stuff of the tee today?
