    Schauffele -8, MacIntyre -7 (1)

An early chance for a birdie goes begging for Robert MacIntyre on the opening hole.

That 15-foot putt looked in all the way but just scraped the right edge and stayed up.

A stellar field and an iconic course with plenty of history, but should The Players Championship be the fifth men's major?

There are plenty of people who think it should, and plenty who think the opposite, but what do you think?

  3. Harman & Hovland hope to challengepublished at 17:15 GMT 15 March

    Harman -8, Hovland -8 (17:20)

The double H's will try and lay down an early challenge after they both shot 69 yesterday. Former Open champion Brian Harman is decent in this event and given Sawgrass isn't overly long and relies on precision you can see why.

Viktor Hovland is one of the game's great enigmas, he was challenging in all the majors a couple of years ago then struggled badly, hopefully he's on his way back to his best.

  4. Postpublished at 17:15 GMT 15 March

    Thomas -8, Conners -8 (17:10 GMT)

The 2021 champion Justin Thomas is under way and find the rough down the right of the first fairway.

JT had a huge wobble on Saturday with a triple-bogey seven on the sixth hole but then played his final 12 holes in three under.

He knows his way around TPC Sawgrass and shares the course record of 62 with Tom Hoge.

In short, don't back against him just yet.

  8. Welcome to championship Sunday!published at 17:01 GMT 15 March

Welcome golf fans to Sunday at The Players Championship - the flagship event on the PGA Tour will be won today, but by who?

Ludvig Aberg holds a three-shot lead over American Michael Thorbjornsen, but is that really enough around TPC Sawgrass in the final round?

With the fearsome finish on the 17th and 18th holes with water lurking there's not too many leads any player would feel comfortable with, so we could see some late drama here.

We've got Cameron Young and Brian Harman launching the home challenge and Matt Fitzpatrick, Viktor Hovland and Robert MacIntyre as leading European raiders.

But who will come out on top? Stay with us throughout the evening to find out...
