  1. Disappointing parpublished at 21:49 GMT 15 March

    Aberg -9 (16)

Ludvig Aberg almost chips in for an eagle on 16, but leaves seven feet for birdie. The way his day's gone though did anyone expect him to make it? No, me neither.

  2. Postpublished at 21:46 GMT 15 March

    Young -12, Fitzpatrick -13 (16)

That's a job well done off the tee from Matt Fitzpatrick, who finds the dance floor.

Cam Young takes a similar line but it skips on a couple of yards and trickles closer to the flag.

Up go the chants of 'USA, USA, USA'. All of a sudden the atmosphere feels more like a Ryder Cup than a PGA Tour event.

  3. Postpublished at 21:43 GMT 15 March

    Young -12, Fitzpatrick -13 (16)

Squeaky bum time as we hit one of the most famous par-three holes in golf, with the wind swirling.

  4. Postpublished at 21:42 GMT 15 March

    Young -12, Fitzpatrick -13 (16)

Cam Young does extremely well to find the green with a plugged ball from the bunker.

Neither Young or Fitzpatrick can drop in long birdie putts and on to 17 we move.

  5. Schauffele takes clubhouse leadpublished at 21:39 GMT 15 March

    Schauffele -11 (69), MacIntyre -10 (69)

Xander Schauffele has a huge smile on his face after dunking in a 20-foot putt for birdie on the 18th.

Where did that come from? Robert MacIntyre flies the green with his second and can't make the return.

He finishes on 10 under and will presumably be telling his playing partner to stick around. There have been more twists and turns on this back nine than a rollercoaster.

  6. Bogey for Abergpublished at 21:36 GMT 15 March

    Aberg -9 (15)

    Ludvig AbergImage source, Getty Images

I'm not sure how that Ludvig Aberg putt stayed out, but it did so that's another bogey and that should be game, sat and match Sawgrass today, and a defeat that will be tough to take, if defeat it is.

You should never say never around Sawgrass on Sunday though - so maybe if he can get an eagle on 16 then who knows?

  7. Postpublished at 21:34 GMT 15 March

    Young -12, Fitzpatrick -13 (16)

Matt Fitzpatrick finds the middle of the green with his thrd on the 16th. Cam Young's second plugs in the left greenside bunker.

I know where I'd rather be.

  8. Thomas gets huge ovationpublished at 21:33 GMT 15 March

    Thomas -8 (17)

Listen to that cheer for Justin Thomas. The 2021 winner almost finds the drink on the 17th, before fluffing a chip and knocking in a 11-footer to save par.

  9. Clumsy chippublished at 21:30 GMT 15 March

    Aberg -10 (14)

Ludvig Aberg has to lay it up short of the 15th green after hitting the pine straw off the tee, but as we've seen a few times his chipping can be a bit heavy handed as he blazes his effort way beyond the flag leaving work to do to save par.

  10. Postpublished at 21:29 GMT 15 March

    Young -12, Fitzpatrick -13 (15)

Can Matt Fitzpatrick reach the putting surface? Thw ind is swirling all over the place at TPC Sawgrass.

Surely he will be laying up from the pines. Yep it's a low punch down the fairway.

  11. Postpublished at 21:26 GMT 15 March

    Schauffele -10, MacIntyre -10 (17)

Xander Schauffele takes a long iron off the 18th tee and belts it as far as most using a three-wood.

Robert MacIntyre is going to try and make something happen. He has the driver out and plays a booming cut that finds the right of the fairway.

You'd take that all day long.

  12. Postpublished at 21:24 GMT 15 March

    Young -12, Fitzpatrick -13 (15)

What a break that is for Matt Fitzpatrick.

The Englishman pulls his tee shot left towards the trees but it hits a pine and comes back into a spot where he'll at least have a shot.

Cam Young booms his down the middle of the fairway prompting 'USA, USA' shouts.

  13. Postpublished at 21:21 GMT 15 March

    Schauffele -10, MacIntyre -10 (17)

Xander Schauffele is aiming about 25 feet left of the pin on the 17th but the gradient does it work and his ball rolls up to a foot.

    What fantastic touch.

Robert MacIntyre is putting down the slope from 40 feet for birdie. The Scot plays it like he is tapping in from 4 feet and it still drifts a few feet past.

But both players come away with very handy pars.

  14. Harman's chance sunkpublished at 21:20 GMT 15 March

    Harman -9 (15)

Much like his golf ball on 16, Brian Harman's chances of winning The Players Championship have been sunk, as he goes for the green in two, as he should, but can only find the famous Sawgrass lake.

That's what happens around here on Sunday, at times it looks like low scores are there, but it's tough when you have to try and chase things down the stretch.

  15. Fitzpatrick regains leadpublished at 21:17 GMT 15 March

    Young -12, Fitzpatrick -13 (15)

That is how you bounce back from a three-putt bogey.

Matt Fitzpatrick drains his birdie putt from 12 feet on the 15th and moves into pole position again with Cam Young unable to convert his chance from 16 feet.

  16. Close againpublished at 21:16 GMT 15 March

    Aberg -10 (14)

Ludvig Aberg is on the 14th green in two but a country mile away from the hole - the putt is fantastic though and seems to be tracking before just agonisingly pulling up short.

Just nothing seems to be going right for the Swede just now - including at the following 15th tee as he smacks a drive away down the left and sees it take a wicked bounce off into the pine straw.

  17. Postpublished at 21:15 GMT 15 March

    Schauffele -10, MacIntyre -10 (16)

Oh my word. Xander Schauffele almost finds the water on the iconic island hole at 17.

There have been five balls in the water today and the American is really fortunate not to have sent a sixth in as he catches the front edge and just hops his ball forward.

He'll be facing a tough, tough putt from 50 feet mind.

  18. Bogey for MacIntyrepublished at 21:12 GMT 15 March

    Schauffele -10, MacIntyre -10 (16)

Robert MacIntyre somehow escapes the 16th with just a bogey.

So he drops to 10 under, with Xander Schauffele moving to the same number courtesy of a birdie.

  19. MacIntyre finds waterpublished at 21:04 GMT 15 March

    Schauffele -9, MacIntyre -11 (15)

Robert MacIntyre clips out of the rough on the par-five 16th and lands on the dancefloor but his ball is gathering pace and meets a watery grave down the right.

  20. Bogey for Fitzpatrickpublished at 21:03 GMT 15 March

    Young -12, Fitzpatrick -12 (14)

Matt Fitzpatrick finds the 14th green in two but sails a good 10 feet past with a putt from down town.

Can he save his par? The Englishman is almost off the green and is expecting that to turn right. It doesn't and it'll be a bogey.

Cameron Young saves his par from seven feet. This is enthralling stuff. The penultimate pairing are tied for the lead.
