  1. So close!published at 21:00 GMT 15 March

    Aberg -10 (13)

Fair play to Ludvig Aberg, he goes long at the par-three 13th hole but plays a stunning chip and run back up onto the green and comes within half a roll of the ball dropping into the cup for a two.

That would have been an amazing way to respond, but just playing that shot itself shows he still has his head in the game after all.

  2. Postpublished at 20:57 GMT 15 March

    Schauffele -9, MacIntyre -11 (15)

Robert MacIntyre has a good old chat with his caddie Mike Burrows about his approach into the 16th and it looks like there's a bit of indecision as he slings it left into the rough.

That'll be a tough up and down.

  3. Double for Abergpublished at 20:52 GMT 15 March

    Aberg -10 (12)

Oh no, I don't like to be a doom monger but it looks like Ludvig Aberg has collapsed now after a really poor double bogey at 12.

The tee shot was wild, the approach was long, the chip up average and the par putt heavy handed, leaving him a long one for bogey, which he never seemed likely to make.

He now finds himself three shots behind Matt Fitzpatrick and his head must be all over the place right now.

  4. Bounce-back birdie for MacIntyrepublished at 20:51 GMT 15 March

    Schauffele -9, MacIntyre -11 (15)

A bounce-back birdie for Robert MacIntyre. The 29-year-old from Oban just will not go away.

Ditto Xander Schauffele, who sets up his birdie, with a laser-like iron shot to seven feet.

  5. Harman still therepublished at 20:48 GMT 15 March

    Harman -9, Hovland -7 (13)

Viktor Hovland has dropped off on this back nine with a bogey and no birdies, but Brian Harman is still in there, just about, at nine under but he'll need to start picking up a few birdies to really get involved.

  6. Bogey for Thomaspublished at 20:47 GMT 15 March

    Thomas -8

JT has been fighting all day but when he finds the rough twice on the 14th it costs him a shot.

They surely leaves him with too much to do with four holes remaining.

  7. Dropping the ropespublished at 20:45 GMT 15 March

We'll have a bit of a throwback scene at Sawgrass later on, with PGA Tour boss Brian Rolapp confirming they'll drop the ropes and let the fans on 18 walk up behind the final group of the day.

“We’re very excited about it,” said Rolapp. “In order to really lean into the history of The Players and be fan-friendly and capture what the fans want, we’re going to drop the ropes on 18 when the final group comes up.

“This is so the fans can actually experience that championship feeling with the leader and hopefully the eventual champion.

“It’s a tradition that I’ve heard many fans want back, so that’s what we’re going to do this weekend.”

The way things are going right now though the winner won't be coming from our final group out on the course...

  8. More water!published at 20:41 GMT 15 March

    Aberg -12, Thorbjornsen -8 (11)

Oh no, Ludvig Aberg is coming apart a bit here with a wide, wide left off the 12th tee and he'll have to take another drop, and a drop way back as well.

And when he hits his approach to the short par four it lands and rolls off the back! He'll be lucky to drop just the one shot here.

  9. Fitzpatrick hits the frontpublished at 20:41 GMT 15 March

    Young -12, Fitzpatrick -13 (13)

Matt Fitzpatrick is never missing that.

His ball drops in and the Englishman who is now five under for his round and the only player without a bogey on his card today now leads the tournament.

Cam Young makes it a pair of birdies.

  10. Postpublished at 20:39 GMT 15 March

    Young -11, Fitzpatrick -12 (12)

Matt Fitzpatrick has the hnour on the 13th and finds that ledge that helps his ball work its way down to four feet.

Cam Young's effort is even better. This could be the key match on the golf course very shortly.

  11. Bogey finish for impressive rookiepublished at 20:38 GMT 15 March

    Yallamaraju -9 (68)

Bit of a scrappy end for Sudarshan Yellamaraju as he chips from just off the front of the 18th green but knocks it long off the back!

He makes a bogey five to slip to nine under for a still mightily impressive tournament in his PGA Tour rookie season.

We may hear a bit more from the 24-year-old this season going on this display.

  12. Postpublished at 20:37 GMT 15 March

    Schauffele -8, MacIntyre -10 (14)

Oh Bobby Mac, that was never coming back. A slight play on a Mowtown song there but you get the gist.

Robert MacIntyre leaves himself a seven footer to save par on the 14th but shunts it left.

At that pace it had no chance of dropping. Xander Schauffele also drops a shot. This pairing are running out of holes.

  13. We're tied at the top!published at 20:34 GMT 15 March

    Aberg -12, Thorbjornsen -8 (11)

Hot on the heels of Matt Fitzpatrick's birdie, Ludvig Aberg makes a bogey to drop to 12 under and join the Englishman in sharing the lead at The Players Championship.

Aberg takes his drop after hitting the water and then flicks in a tidy wedge from around 100 yards, leaving 16 feet to try and save his par, but it’s no good and he has to settle for a bogey.

That's a bad error from the Swede especially coming on a par five where he's been so dominant this week. Let's see how he handles that blow.

  14. Big birdie for Fitzpatrickpublished at 20:32 GMT 15 March

    Young -11, Fitzpatrick -12 (12)

Matt Fitzpatrick goes flag hunting on the 12th...it's aggressive and bold and beautiful from the Englishman, who watches his ball stop two feet from the pin.

Surely a birdie incoming. In it goes. He could well end up in a tie for the lead here.

Cam Young is putting for his birdie from 20 feet...the pace is perfect but not the direction. It straightens right up when he was expecting it to drift from left to right.

  15. Water for Aberg!published at 20:24 GMT 15 March

    Aberg -13, Thorbjornsen -8 (10)

Big, big mistake from Ludvig Aberg on the 11th as he carves a high slicing fairway wood into the Sawgrass sky and it slides away miles from the green and splashes down in the middle of the lake.

    Trouble for the Swede.

  16. Postpublished at 20:21 GMT 15 March

    Young -11, Fitzpatrick -11 (11)

Big birdie chance for Matt Fitzpatrick on the 11th after he drops his third into seven feet.

Cam Young is up first and absolutely leathers his effort from downtown a good 10 feet past. Wow.

The American saves his bacon and his par with the return and then the former US Open champion makes a hash of his birdie putt as well, tugging it left.

  17. Postpublished at 20:15 GMT 15 March

    Schauffele -9, MacIntyre -11 (13)

Every time I see a shot of Robert MacIntyre he is putting for a birdie. But he can't follow Xander Schaffele and drain a long effort on the 12th.

And then quick one on the 13th from 25 feet grazes the edge of the hole before wandering on another couple of feet.

  18. Solid parpublished at 20:14 GMT 15 March

    Aberg -13, Thorbjornsen -8 (10)

Ludvig Aberg shows his power to muscle a shot out of some deep chunky rough to get it just off the 10th green, and as has been the case all day his lag putting from distance is great so he gets down in two for par.

There's a par five coming up next for the Swede...

  19. Fleetwood's final flourishpublished at 20:07 GMT 15 March

    Fleetwood -8 (68)

Tommy Fleetwood finishes his fourth round with a flourish.

Birdies on the 16th and 18th help the Englishman climb the leaderboard 18 places into a tie for eighth.

  20. Birdie train!published at 20:07 GMT 15 March

    Yellamaraju -10 (16)

PGA Tour tookie Sudarsham Yellamaraju drains a long one on 16 to make it back-to-back birdies and get into double figures at 10 under after 16 holes.

That'd be an interesting target to set as the clubhouse lead if he makes it in on that score. If he picked up another birdie though...
