  1. Russell message 'very interesting'published at 16:04 BST 18 July

    Andrew Benson
    BBC F1 correspondent at Spa-Francorchamps

I thought that George Russell radio message was very interesting because he was told where his time loss was and he said "so it is all on the straight then?". So the inference you can take is that he has some kind of issue on the straight.

The pattern of the weekend has been that Russell has been lacking energy in the final sector because he is not able to as smooth with the car at the same speed through the corners as Antonelli. That has meant Antonelli can conserve battery.

  2. Q3 will resume at 16:04 BSTpublished at 16:03 BST 18 July

The top three are close together at this stage of the final part of qualifying. Lando Norris is fastest at the moment - but he has a 10-place grid drop, so won't be on pole anyway - with Kimi Antonelli only 0.039 seconds behind, and Charles Leclerc 0.092secs back.

Q3 will resume at 16:04 BST.

  3. Team radio - Mercedes to Russellpublished at 16:01 BST 18 July

Engineer: "All of that loss was Turn 14 and the run to Turn 18."

Russell: "So I lost everything in the straight?"

There is a bit of gravel left on track after those opening runs in Q3, so while everybody goes back to the garage, the marshals sweep away the stones, ready for the final flyers.

    Pit exit closed for now.

Charles Leclerc goes on to the front row in second place alongside Kimi Antonelli. Lando Norris has that 10-place grid place but the world champion will want to start as high up as possible at a track you can overtake on.

And Norris goes quickest! Beating Antonelli's marker by 0.039 seconds.

It is sector two that Antonelli makes the difference over George Russell.

  8. Antonelli goes to the toppublished at 15:55 BST 18 July

Oscar Piastri reckons Gabriel Bortoleto has just done three unsafe releases in one in the pit lane.

Meanwhile, the two Red Bulls of Isack Hadjar and Max Verstappen aren't quite in sync just yet. Maybe another part of the track will do? Yes it will. Hadjar pulls along his team-mate and Verstappen goes purple in the middle sector.

Can the Dutchman go to the top of the timesheets? No! Kimi Antonelli gets it by 0.144 seconds.

All the big names will be fighting it out for pole position today.

Mercedes' Kimi Antonelli, who was quickest in Q2, and George Russell are there, McLaren's Oscar Piastri and Lando Norris have also made it through, as well as both Red Bull drivers, Max Verstappen and Isack Hadjar.

Lewis Hamilton and Charles Leclerc for Ferrari will be in the scrap, plus Audi's Gabriel Bortoleto and Racing Bulls rookie Arvid Lindblad.

  13. Team radio - Audi to Hulkenbergpublished at 15:47 BST 18 July

Engineer: "Sorry Nico, we need to stop the car. We have a hydraulic leak."

  14. Postpublished at 15:45 BST 18 July

Nico Hulkenberg has been knocked out in Q2 but the German was told to stop the car by Audi because of a hydraulic leak. That means Q3 will start slightly later now, so it's a good time to go and make a cup of team/coffee.

Lindblad driving extremely well but also how powerful the upgrade could be on the Racing Bulls, when they have got both cars with the upgrade they can both be scoring some pretty good points at the next grand prix in Hungary.

Isack Hadjar completes his second flyer on the softs but the Frenchman doesn't improve and stays ninth on the board. Pierre Gasly also can't save himself so the Alpine driver will exit at this stage of qualifying.

Actually, no-one in the bottom six can improve. Hadjar makes it through and Gabriel Bortoleto in the Audi book a place in the pole shootout, Racing Bulls' Liam Lawson just misses out.

Lewis Hamilton is being helped by his Ferrari crew while he sits in the cokpit in the garage, waiting to g0 out. His team-mate Charles Leclerc, meanwhile, has already making his way to the final sector on his out lap.

Isack Hadjar will be starting at the back of the grid on Sunday but Red Bull need the Frenchman to get through to Q3 so they can potentially use him to aid Max Verstappen's bid for pole position.

As Lando can't take pole even if he is fastest (due to his grid penalty) then I think it will be one of Antonelli, Hamilton or Verstappen.
