2025 World Champion Lando Norris: "It's incredible. It is pretty surreal, you know? I've dreamed of this for a long, long time. Everyone does. A lot goes into a season like this, a lot of ups, a lot of downs. But, none of that matters as long as you try and come out on top, that's what we have managed to do.

"I did it with an incredible team, Will J, Jarvis, all the boys and girls that I have enjoyed so many moments with. It's not just this year, it has been over the last seven or eight years being with McLaren, with the last 16, 17 years of my life, trying to chase this dream and today we all did it so, I'm pretty happy."

  4. 'Just a dream racing with these two guys' - Brownpublished at 15:20 GMT 7 December 2025

McLaren CEO Zak Brown, speaking to Sky Sports: "Unbelievably proud of the team, unbelievably proud of the two drivers. A lot of people said that it was going to be impossible to pull off, it's just a dream racing with these two guys. Oscar and Lando have been awesome all year; this Max guy is pretty hard to beat.

"So well deserved from everyone, can't wait to get back to the factory and celebrate with the entire team. We have a great group here, but we have a lot of men and women back at McLaren.

On the spirit of racing: "To us, it's the right way to go racing with two awesome racing drivers. Very proud of how everyone conducted themselves, the teamwork, the highs and lows, and how we dealt with the lows.

"Everyone at McLaren have done such an amazing job, great pit stops today, great strategy."

On Oscar Piastri: "He is a future world champion, drove brilliantly, they supported each other, it's cruel support, and I am excited to go racing with these guys next year."

    Damon Hill
1996 world champion on BBC Radio 5 Live in Abu Dhabi

I'm very happy, Lando Norris was lost for words in the cockpit as he was going around and he did a fantastic job of holding his emotions at bay.

You can't be emotional as a racing driver, but it doesn't disappear, they don't have no emotions, they have to put them in a little closest somewhere inside their heart and their soul.

It comes out when they've done the job, it's a very emotional win for Lando.

More from world champion Lando Norris, on the championship being on his mind in the race: "A bit of both, you can't not think of it, but I knew it was going to be a long race till the very end.

"We've seen many times that anything in Formula One can happen and I just kept pushing until the last two or three laps where I could ease it off a bit.

"I still wanted to fight until the end and that is what we did. That is what we had to do this season with Max [Verstappen] chasing us the whole way, for Oscar [Piastri] catching up again at the end, they certainly didn't make my life easy this year."

On being under investigation during the race: "I had no idea, I didn't care, I knew what I did was fine and I had nothing to worry about.

"I was just trying to enjoy the moment, not many people in the world and not many people in Formula One ever get to experience what I have experienced this season and this year.

"I'm happy for everyone more than me, but I'm just crazy happy."

On being world champion: "I mean look it has been a long journey with McLaren, I have been with them for nine years and we've been through plenty of difficult times and plenty of good times.

"For me to be able to bring something back to them and it's their first drivers' [title] in many, many years, so I feel like I did my part for the team this year and I'm very proud of myself for that.

"I'm even more proud for everyone who I hopefully made cry."

It's a long journey and first of all I want to say a big thanks to my guys, everyone at McLaren, my parents. They are the ones who have supported me since the beginning.

"I mean it feels amazing, I now know what Max [Verstappen] feels like, I want to congratulate Max and Oscar [Piastri], my two biggest competitors the whole season.

"It's been a pleasure to race against both of them and an honour, I've learned a lot from both of them as well.

"I've enjoyed it and it has been a long year but we did it and I'm so proud of everyone."

The rest of the field are heading over to Lando Norris to give their congratulations to the new world champion. Did the Briton think he would be standing here as title winner when he was sitting on the grass at Zandvoort following his retirement from the race? Who knows. But now he gives a big smooch to his girlfriend as the number one guy on the grid.
