I have to say, I am impressed, because Kimi Antonelli has been putting in laps around this circuit that are exceptionally good.

I spoke to McLaren about the wind and they said that it's certainly an added complication.

The clock has finished its countdown. So far Kimi Antonelli is in provisional pole.

But wait, here comes Max Verstappen... Nope, not fast enough.

Championship leader Kimi Antonelli takes pole position.

That's three back-to-back pole positions for the teen.

He won the previous two in China and Japan, can he do it again?

Max Verstappen puts his Red Bull second, Charles Leclerc's Ferrari and Lando Norris' McLaren make up the second row.

Max Verstappen has left it very late to get himself out on track, so he will be the last driver to set a lap time for the top 10.

Starting positions are always important, but with a potential wet race tomorrow, anything can happen.

This is starting to be a troublesome situation for George Russell. This has now been quite a few races where his team-mate Kim Antonelli has been happy up there and he's found his flow, found his mojo.

Three minutes to go. One last push for pole position.

Will Kimi keep his spot or will someone else find speed and take the front row?

That is a statement [Kimi Antonelli's lap time]. That is a statement of intent.

There's a flurry of cars popping fast lap times!

It's Kimi Antonelli now, with a lap time of 1:27.798. Boss Toto Wolff is trying his hardest not to grin.

Around six minutes to go in Q3.

Max Verstappen has found some time from somewhere but we don't know who is going to be on pole - isn't it great! It's mixed and I like it. There are great drivers in all of these top four teams and it's not exactly clear who's going to be on pole position.

New soft tyres bolted on for the 10 cars out on track.

Oscar Piastri sets the fastest lap time so far, but not for long.

Here comes his team-mate Lando Norris and sets a lap time of 1:29.183.

I'm so impressed with what Alpine have done. They've got a new engine but so do Williams. The fact that Alpine have come on so much and Williams have gone back, credit to Alpine for coming on and developing so quickly.

That was pretty good from Lando Norris, he stayed on the same set of tyres and managed to improve, because he was running off line, he had to avoid George Russell and he had to go wide.

So, Lando has not only managed to keep grip and find some balance, but he's actually kept his tyres and got more performance out of them than a new set.
