That's a stone-waller, how on earth is that not a penalty? He hasn't gone shoulder-to-shoulder, he's cleaned him out. If that was knee-to-knee that gets given. What difference does it make that it was his upper thigh? Pathetic inconsistency AGAIN from VAR.

    Tom

That is one of the worst decisions of the season. That is absolutely outrageous. Sprints through the back of Gordon nowhere near the ball. What on earth are we doing?!

I think it's a penalty, I really do. I think he's trying to usher him out but he takes him out.

It's a penalty, as simple as that. It's a stonewall penalty. I'm staggered at that.

It's a brilliant free-kick. And you know the beauty of it? There's not a big run up.

    Beautiful free-kick, it really is.

Football is amazing. To have start like that and not be in the game at all, if you stay 2-0 down, you have a chance.

Almost perfect for Chelsea. Goalkeeper Aaron Ramsdale does not know which end to cover, beautiful up and down over the wall by Reece James. I said before half time if Chelsea can score it'll really help their psychology.

Just the start to the second half that Chelsea manager Enzo Maresca will have wanted.

What a strike from Reece James as the Chelsea captain leads by example by pulling one back.

Suddenly the atmosphere feels a little different inside St James' Park as the away end roar: "Reece James - he's one of our own!"

You are never quite sure what you are going to get from Newcastle United this season.

But the hosts looked much more like their usual selves in that first half, and got their reward for aggressive start.

Newcastle have dropped 11 points from winning positions in the Premier League this season, but Chelsea are going to have to offer so much more in the second half to get back into this.

Chelsea were beginning to dominate, but that question about arrogance, Cole Palmer went down and it's up to the referee to stop the game. But Chelsea just stopped! This is under 11s stuff. You carry on until the referee stops the game. Terrible again from Chelsea.
