  1. YELLOW CARDpublished at 29 mins

    Tottenham 0-0 Liverpool

Another poor pass, this time by Xavi Simons, and it ends what looked like a promising Spurs move.

Moments later Simons is booked for a terrible challenge on Virgil van Dijk.

Referee John Brooks produces a yellow card but should that have been a red?

My opinion on Thomas Frank is that I don't think he's an impact manager. He's a principle manager. If you're going to hire someone like Frank he need's a bit more time to implement his work.

    Big chance for Spurs!

And it's a let-off for Liverpool as Randal Kolo Muani's tame header is straight at Alisson when the French forward should have done much better.

It's Tottenham's first attempt on target. They should be 1-0 up.

  4. Postpublished at 25 mins

    Tottenham 0-0 Liverpool

Goalkeeper Guglielmo Vicario puts the ball out of play while under no pressure whatsoever and Tottenham fans react with sighs of frustration.

This game has been peppered with mis-placed passes and poor decisions.

    Tottenham 0-0 Liverpool

Tottenham and Liverpool met four times last season and they all produced goals: 1-5, 0-4, 1-0, 3-6.

We'll be lucky to see one goal tonight judging by the opening 20-odd minutes.

  6. 'Bradley has got lucky there'published at 17:52 GMT 20 December 2025

    Tottenham 0-0 Liverpool

    Andy Reid
Former Nottingham Forest midfielder on BBC Radio 5 Live Sports at Tottenham Hotspur Stadium

I don't think it's a free kick, Conor Bradley has got into an awkward position, he backs into Djed Spence. I think Bradley has got lucky there. He should clear it rather than trying to be clever.

  7. 'Glass half empty approach'published at 17:50 GMT 20 December 2025

    Tottenham 0-0 Liverpool

    Gary Neville
Former Manchester United defender on Sky Sports

It's safe, very cautious the way that both teams have played in this opening 17 minutes. Both teams have definitely gone with a 'glass half empty' approach in terms of not conceding and packing the midfield.

    Tottenham 0-0 Liverpool

Djed Spence lets out a yell of frustration after he is adjudged to have fouled Conor Bradley inside the Liverpool box after Lucas Bergvall's clever pass.

Was that really a foul? Spurs feel they were harshly treated there.

This is tight and edgy. Not a lot between the two teams in the opening 15 minutes. Spurs are yet to register an attempt on target.

  10. 'Kudus trying to provide creativity'published at 17:47 GMT 20 December 2025

    Tottenham 0-0 Liverpool

    Andy Reid
Former Nottingham Forest midfielder on BBC Radio 5 Live Sports at Tottenham Hotspur Stadium

Good play from Tottenham, kept the ball well. There was no pressure on the ball, Cristian Romero was able to step forward with Mohammed Kudus trying to provide that creativity.

Now the action switches to the other end and a header by Randal Kolo Muani drops wide.

After a slow start, this is turning into a decent contest.

    Tottenham 0-0 Liverpool

    Andy Reid
Former Nottingham Forest midfielder on BBC Radio 5 Live Sports at Tottenham Hotspur Stadium

Mohammed Kudus does barge into him, Alexis Mac Allister has got up to try and win it and Kudus barges into him. Liverpool are starting to look dominant with Tottenham on the back foot.

  13. Postpublished at 14 mins

    Tottenham 0-0 Liverpool

    And it's a decent free-kick.

It's sent in by Dominik Szoboszlai and it finds Virgil van Dijk whose header is straight at Guglielmo Vicario.

That's the first big clear chance.

  14. Postpublished at 12 mins

    Tottenham 0-0 Liverpool

    Andy Reid
Former Nottingham Forest midfielder on BBC Radio 5 Live Sports at Tottenham Hotspur Stadium

Arne Slot has been trying to find the formation and it's hard to put your finger on what formation Liverpool are playing because there's so many rotations.

They keep the ball and they're very comfortable on the ball.

    Tottenham 0-0 Liverpool

A quiet first ten minutes but how about this for a stat from Opta...

Should Liverpool win this game, Tottenham will have lost more home league matches since leaving White Hart Lane in 2017 (currently 48 - 42 at the Tottenham Hotspur Stadium & 6 at Wembley) than Arsenal have since leaving Highbury in 2006 (48).

With Salah at AFCON you may think of putting Isak and Ekitike out there together, but Slot is absolutely right to try to shore up that midfield.

    Tottenham 0-0 Liverpool

Liverpool are trying to slow it down and are enjoying a spell of possession but they're inside their own half and going nowhere fast.

Then a long ball forward and Hugo Ekitike is onto it and seems to get the better of Cristian Romero before the Spurs captain makes a good recovery.

  20. 'Good shot from Kudus'published at 17:37 GMT 20 December 2025

Good play from Tottenham, a good shot from Mohammed Kudus and it's a block from Liverpool.
