  1. 'Title buys Slot time, inconsistencies still there for Frank'published at 17:13 GMT 20 December 2025

    Tottenham v Liverpool (17:30 GMT)

    Nedum Onuoha
Former Manchester City defender on Football Focus

On whether Frank or Slot is under more pressure:

I would say Frank. Obviously Liverpool aren't performing to their absolute best, arguably they are a long, long way from that, but they still wear that gold badge on their sleeve to say that they won the title not that long ago.

That carries a lot of sway for a manager that didn't arrive that long ago, and started in that manner. I think it buys him time.

For Frank, some of the inconsistencies that we saw last season are still there, and he hasn't necessarily brought exciting football that the fans can get behind.

Spurs don't score a lot of goals, at times they concede a lot of goals and the football itself isn't that entertaining.

  2. Frank or Slot - who is under more pressure?published at 17:11 GMT 20 December 2025

Who is under more pressure - Thomas Frank or Arne Slot?

Two weeks ago Liverpool were in full-blown crisis mode after Mo Salah's extraordinary interview when he claimed he had been "thrown under the bus" by the club and his relationship with head coach Arne Slot had broken down.

Since then Salah has returned to the side and Liverpool have returned to winning ways.

While Salah has since departed for international duty with Egypt for Africa Cup of Nations duty, Spurs head into this game on the back of one win in seven Premier League matches.

  3. 'We have to keep the belief'published at 17:10 GMT 20 December 2025

FT: Man City 3-0 West Ham

    West Ham United

West Ham's Kyle Walker-Peters speaking to Sky Sports:

"We know how good City are, they are at it at the moment. We knew it would be tough here, we had a gameplan and tried to stick to it but it was tough."

Half-time message? "To believe, press higher and we showed that at times. We had a few chances, on another day they might go in. Just didn't happen for us today."

On getting more opportunities with players away at AFCON: "I'm excited, I want to help the team. Even when I'm not playing I'm trying to help the team. Excited to play but we need to turn things around quickly.

"Important to keep belief, there will be tough moments. We have to stick together and keep at it."

  4. Good riddance to 2025?published at 17:08 GMT 20 December 2025

    Tottenham v Liverpool (17:30 GMT)

    Tottenham Hotspur

This is Tottenham's final Premier League home game of 2025.

While the calendar year saw Spurs win the Europa League, there will be many fans pleased to see the back of 2025 in terms of Tottenham's top-flight home form.

They've won just four of their 17 league matches in front of their own fans, taking just 15 points from a possible 51. That's a pretty miserable return.

Will they sign off 2025 in front of their fans with a morale-boosting win over Liverpool?

  5. 'City are back in the title race'published at 17:06 GMT 20 December 2025

FT: Man City 3-0 West Ham

    Leon Osman
Former Everton midfielder on BBC Radio 5 Live

Man City are back in this title race and they did not need to be anywhere near their best.

For West Ham? Trouble. Problems. They need to think about this game if they want to stay in the Premier League.

I cannot believe that Burnley fans have to sit through that every week. A very poor Bournemouth performance to match very poor opposition.

  9. 'A game that lacked quality'published at 17:02 GMT 20 December 2025

    FT: Brighton 0-0 Sunderland

    Daniel Gabbidon
Former Premier League defender on BBC Radio 5 Sports Extra at Amex Stadium

That was a difficult watch I'm not going to lie.

Overall a game that lacked quality, Sunderland will be happy coming away from home and getting a point and how organised they were.

I think for both teams if you can't win the game you don't lose it.

Crazy to think Sunderland got more points in their first Premier League game than Wolves have in 17.

    Paul, Newport

On the opening day of the campaign Sunderland also scored a third (three) of Wolves' total goals tally for the season (nine).

Boos ring out at Molineux as Wolves become only the fourth club to lose 10 or more consecutive Premier League matches in the same season.

Brentford claim just their second away win of the season and have Keane Lewis-Potter to thank for two smart finishes.
