A half fit Cole Palmer for an ineffectual Pedro Neto. Not sure we’ll see much difference.

As it stands, five Premier League clubs occupy the top eight places.

Chelsea, who trail 2-1 at Napoli, are facing a two-legged play-off in February.

Chelsea are causing their own problems. Fofana guilty of being sloppy in possession and then it's a race back towards his own goal. He is lucky, he didn't really win the ball back, more a pass ricochets and back to him. Panic over, Chelsea go again.

    Pick that out!

As someone who grew up in 70s and was with my father watching Liverpool dominate Europe, I'm very unhappy with the current format of the European Cup. I really DON'T like that English clubs may have 5 guaranteed knockout spots secured. Too many. Should only be for the league champions.

Will that equaliser just before half time give Newcastle confidence to attack more? So far, the signs are of PSG maintaining their dominance.

Better from Mo Salah. He drives at goal and is tripped right on the edge of the box. Chance for Liverpool, this.

Mo Salah with a yard of space in the box but his strike is charged down. Another quiet night for the Liverpool winger so far.

Kai Havertz replaced at the start of the second half. Is that a precaution - or something more serious?

I'm not surprised to see the introduction of Palmer. Chelsea need someone with a bit more guile and craft when they get to the edge of the Napoli area. They are getting there easily but not having enough cutting edge when they get there.

Tottenham Hotspur may sit 14th in the Premier League, but they're flying high in Europe. Randal Kolo Muani's goal has pushed them to fourth in the Champions League.

Chelsea would need to take the lead in Napoli to bump Newcastle outside of the top eight.

    PSG 1-1 Newcastle

BBC Sport reporter at Parc des Princes

What a time for Newcastle United to land that sucker punch. Right before the break.

The visitors made a torrid start to the game, but they had a couple of brief glimpses as the half wore on - only for their end product to cost them.

They did not capitulate, and have got back into this game through a set-play as midfielder Joe Willock draws his side level after being recalled to the side.

This is the type of resilience Newcastle have so often lacked on the road this season.

    HT: Man City 2-0 Galatasaray

    Michael Brown
Former Manchester City midfielder on BBC Radio 5 Live at Etihad Stadium

It's looking good for Man City but there is a long way to go. Galatasaray started the game putting them under pressure and then Haaland missed that big chance, the header, and we thought, is it going to be one of those days? And then Doku came up with two assists.

Going well but we know they are fragile defensively, so a long way to go.

  20. 'Newcastle grew into the game'published at 21:02 GMT 28 January

    HT: PSG 1-1 Newcastle

    Stephen Warnock
Former Liverpool defender on MOTD: UEFA Champions League

Newcastle were getting over-run in the opening minutes - their change of system didn't suit them and it felt like they didn't know who should be picking up who.

But, around 15-20 minutes in, they managed to work that out and grew into the game. Their long balls started causing PSG problems, and they were doing ok at the back.

We saw a few minutes before they scored that they are danger from long throws and balls into the box - Dan Burn has been causing them all sorts of problems, and Woltemade had a great chance but did not make contact with his header.

I can see them doing more of the same in the second half, because PSG don't seem to be able to cope with it.

You can hear more from Warnock on MOTD: Uefa Champions League at 22:40 GMT on BBC One and the BBC Sport website and app.
