  2. Pilgrims unchanged; One change for the Hatterspublished at 12:27 GMT 24 January

    Plymouth v Luton (12:30 GMT)

Not a lot of difference for either of these sides in comparison to their last run-outs in the league.

Tom Cleverley names the same XI which beat Peterborough 1-0 last time out, while Jack Wilshere makes just the one alteration from the team that drew at home to high-flying Lincoln.

That change is Kasey Palmer, who comes in for Cohen Brammall, who in turn drops to the bench.

    League Two table

Here's how the League Two table looks before today's matches.

That top-two clash between Bromley and Ian Holloway's Swindon looks a juicy old game doesn't it.

It always seems to be a great battle at the top of League Two and this season is no different.

  8. Notts County and Crewe battling for play-off placespublished at 12:16 GMT 24 January

Both Notts County and Crewe Alexandra are well positioned at this stage of the season as they look to compete for a spot in the top seven of League Two.

The Magpies currently sit seventh while the Railwaymen are tenth but three points off today's opponents.

This will be the 50th Football League between Notts County and Crewe Alexandra, with the Magpies winning 22 of those matches to Crewe's 18.

Notts County have won just one of their last five home league games, failing to score in their last two matches on home soil – the Magpies last failed to score in three consecutive Football League home games in March 2019.

Notts County head coach Martin Paterson is serving a touchline ban for today's game.

  9. Barnet host Oldham in mid-table clashpublished at 12:14 GMT 24 January

Barnet host Oldham this lunchtime with the Latics unbeaten in their last six with three wins and three draws.

The two sides are tightly positioned in the League Two table, both on 35 points with Oldham ahead on a goal difference that is better off by one.

The only previous Football League meeting between Barnet and Oldham finished with a 1-1 draw in September 2025, with both goals in that game coming from penalties.

Oldham have won just one of their last 17 away Football League games against sides from London, a 2-1 victory over Sutton United in August 2021.

  10. Tight tussles at the top, big blockbuster in the basementpublished at 12:12 GMT 24 January

    League One table

While there will be no movement in the automatic promotion box this afternoon, all eyes will be firmly on the top.

Cardiff will be aiming to get out of striking distance of Thursday night victors Lincoln City, but need to beat a Stockport side who are chasing down third spot.

Bradford will do all the can to hold onto it as well as get back to within three points of the top two but will face a tough challenge in Huddersfield, who are looking to impress under new boss Liam Manning to stay inside the top six.

Hot on their heels will be Luton Town, who face Plymouth Argyle for the potential priveldge of the play-off spots, while Stevenage and Wycombe will be vying for the same.

Boro, though, have to face a storming Mansfield Town, who have risen from the bottom to a chance of going within one point of the top six.

As for the bottom end, Blackpool and Northampton can only avoid their bottom four fate if they pick up a point or more when the two go head-to-head at Bloomfield Road.

  11. Familiar faces face off in Home Park dugoutspublished at 12:11 GMT 24 January

    Plymouth v Luton (12:30 GMT)

Tom Cleverley prepares to go head to head with ex-England team mate Jack Wilshere

Thirteen years ago, Tom Cleverley and Jack Wilshere were lining up for England in a friendly against Brazil at Wembley.

Today, having come up against one another multiple times in the Premier League, they'll watch their sides take on one another from opposing dugouts for the first time as Cleverley's Plymouth take on Wilshere's Hatters in Devon.

Six points and seven places separate these two in the League One table, and for the visitors, a chance to climb back into the play-off places is up for grabs this lunchtime.

Six wins and five draws from 15 games since Wilshere took charge have seen Luton back in the hunt for promotion in a congested third tier table, but they'll need to avoid a third successive away defeats at this level for the first time since 2018 if they are to keep pace with those ahead today.

The hosts take on their fourth most-played opponents at league level today, and come into this one unbeaten in their last four against the Hatters, but there haven't been a lot of Home (Park) comforts to speak off so far this campaign.

The Pilgrims have only won successive games in front of their own faithful once this season, and only rock-bottom club Port Vale have a worse home record.

It will be all handshakes and smiles pre-kick off between these two former team-mates, but there'll be plenty at stake when the whistle blows at 12:30.

  12. Manning backing Terriers for West Yorkshire victorypublished at 12:08 GMT 24 January

    Huddersfield v Bradford (12:30 GMT)

    Media caption,

The new man in the Huddersfield Town dugout speaks with the media for the first time.

For a newly-appointed manager, leading your first game in charge of a new club is always going to be a nervous one. But for Liam Manning, his Huddersfield reign is starting off with an added layer of anticipation.

Manning takes the lead on the Terriers for the first time today as his side host the West Yorkshire derby between themselves and third-placed tough customers Bradford City.

For the Bantams, this game is just as big, if not bigger. They need a win to give themselves a chance of staying within distance of second placed Lincoln City else risk drifting a potential nine points behind the automatic promotion spots.

A loss will likely see Huddersfield outside the top six after four league match winless streak and Manning has came into the side fresh off a difficult spell with Norwich City that saw the Canaries in the bottom three of the Championship (though his replacement Philippe Clement has managed to pull clear of the drop zone by two points as it stands).

However, while both the 40-year-old and the squad may have gone through a rough patch, belief has not wavered.

"I think you have to back yourself," Manning told BBC Radio Leeds. "If you go into anything fearful of a negative outcome then naturally you won't fully commit.

"I concentrate on getting it right and everyone in the club pulling in the same direction."

  13. High-flying Cardiff hoping to show their progresspublished at 12:06 GMT 24 January

    Cardiff v Stockport (12:30 GMT)

    Media caption,

Cardiff's Brian Barry-Murphy on current squad and looks towards Stockport County.

When Cardiff and Stockport met back in September, the Bluebirds just about scraped a point with a 97th-minute equaliser from Yousef Salech to end it with a goal apiece.

But that was then. Now the young Cardiff squad appear to have learned how to use their wings and are flying at the very peak of League One, with only second placed Lincoln City having taken the W against them in their past 12 league games.

They lead today's fourth-placed visitors by a huge 10-point gap and while boss Brian Barry-Murphy knows an extra three points isn't a given against such a dangerous opponent, he is keen to display just how much his team have grown since the start of the season.

"On Saturday we'll have to show that we've improved significantly to give ourselves a chance to win the game," Barry-Murphy told BBC Wales.

"I know that if we keep improving the level of performance, then we'll really do great things.

"We have prepared exceptionally well for Saturday's game but we may not beat Stockport. We just have to do everything possible to try and do it."
