Chelsea have no game plan it seems. Totally defensive and looking like a cat that’s run out of lives.

    West Ham 1-1 Brighton

    Dion Dublin

Welbeck has tried a panenka and he's put too much on it and it's come off the crossbar. If it goes in it's the right choice and you say "Brilliant, well done", but I would never ever try that as a second penalty. Just put your laces through it, close your eyes and see what happens.

    Nottingham Forest 0-1 Everton

Forest are maintaining pressure here but David Moyes' visitors are not budging at the back and looking to spring a counter attack whenever the opportunity arises.

Following Nick's entry from the City Ground [20:06], Neco Williams has now attempted five crosses in this game. The stats also show Everton centre-backs James Tarkowski and Jake O'Brien have won all five of their aerial duels combined. Solid.

Tough times at Burnley, our players seem to have given up so early into the season this year, as have the fans. Another flat home atmosphere and empty seats speaks volumes, sadly

    Burnley 1-2 Newcastle

Newcastle should be further ahead. Yoane Wissa has headed into the side netting from close range when he should have at least got it on target.

Moments later Burnley's Florentino is booked for wrestling Bruno Guimaraes just outside the Clarets penalty area and it ends with Fabian Schar testing former Newcastle keeper Martin Dubravka.

Florentino was booked for that foul.

It is not happening for Nottingham Forest right now.

Full-back Neco Williams has delivered three or four excellent balls into the box but the hosts have not been able to capitalise.

They are threatening more than Everton and building momentum but still trail.

    West Ham 1-1 Brighton

    Danny Welbeck attempts a Panenka...

....but it hits the crossbar and bounces out.

Welbeck is then next to touch the ball which results in a indirect free-kick.

And then things boil over as Welbeck and Mateus Fernandes square up and both are given a yellow.

Both sides don't seem particularly bothered about defending in this game which is good for those watching as it is very entertaining. Who knows what the final score will be.

  10. PENALTY TO BRIGHTONpublished at 20:04 GMT 30 December 2025

    West Ham 1-1 Brighton

Another one! This is so silly. Lucas Paqueta wrestles Lewis Dunk to the ground as a corner is crossed into the box.

Brighton get their second penalty in three minutes.

    Burnley 1-2 Newcastle

Burnley's goalless draw against Everton at the weekend was a drab affair. This is anything but dull.

Three goals in the opening 23 minutes, while Joelinton and Kyle Walker have been involved in a pushing match which has resulted in both players being booked.

This is great fun. Both teams are going at it hammer and tongs.

The Aston Villa away end is filling up and the fans that are in that area are already in good voice.

Their side can move level on points at the top of the league if they beat Arsenal.

Enzo Maresca, your team just cannot defend long corners.

Defending long throws is a basic, but Chelsea just cannot do it. They just don't have that aggression, but it was also brilliant from Justin Kluivert to just nick it at the back post.

    West Ham 1-0 Brighton

West Ham are happy to try and pick Brighton off on the break. Callum Wilson almost gets to a ball over the top but it's just in front of the ex-Bournemouth and Newcastle striker.

By the way, don't get too comfortable Hammers fans. West Ham have won just one of the five Premier League games they have scored first in this season (D2 L2), losing both at home.

Tim Iroegbunam glides effortlessly through the Nottingham Forest midfield after Vitalii Mykolenko puts in a brilliant tackle to end the hosts' latest attack, but Forest are able to get enough bodies back to avoid another setback.

Callum Hudson-Odoi then shoots wide when he's picked out at the back post as Forest's wait for a first attempt on target breaches the half-hour mark.

How’s your luck, Villa!? That injury for Rice will be the main difference that wins them this game. The protection in front of the back line just won’t be there for Arsenal. As for Arsenal’s luck with injuries this season, it’s incomprehensible! Basically a new key player every week now.

That's what you call anticipation. Kluivert is thinking, 'It's going to drop to me' and he's the only one on the move. The Chelsea defenders are static.
