    James Garner (19 mins)

The visitors find the breakthrough at the City Ground!

Everton's 24-day wait for a Premier League goal is over, and that's a lovely way to do it.

Dwight McNeil plays an excellent ball through the Nottingham Forest defence to James Garner, who makes no mistakes and slots past John Victor.

Djordje Petrovic wasn't far away, but Cole Palmer's penalty had just enough pace and accuracy on it. It was on the Bournemouth goalkeeper's fingertips, but it wasn't enough.

Andoni Iraola feels hard done by, but I'm not with him on this one.

Oh no… here we go again. We ( Burnley) really need to improve on our defence in the January transfer window, and whilst we are at it, another midfielder or two please…

  4. Wissa gives Newcastle something differentpublished at 19:47 GMT 30 December 2025

    Burnley 0-2 Newcastle

    Ciaran Kelly
BBC Sport reporter at Turf Moor

It has not taken long to see what Yoane Wissa brings to this Newcastle United side on his first league start.

The forward was in the right place at the right time and showed his poaching instincts to double his side's lead at the second time of asking.

Burnley manager Scott Parker may feel aggrieved Bruno Guimaraes' push went unpunished in the build-up - even after a VAR check.

But having looked more resilient in recent weeks, Burnley have been anything but in the opening stages.

  5. 'You've got to know the opponent will go down'published at 19:47 GMT 30 December 2025

    Chelsea 1-1 Bournemouth

If you look at the replay it's the right shin of Semenyo on the left ankle of Estevao, which makes him trip over himself.

It was not intentional but there's contact.

You've got to know that in that situation in the box, if you make contact the opponent will go down.

  6. SUBSTITUTIONpublished at 19:47 GMT 30 December 2025

    Burnley 0-2 Newcastle

It goes from bad to worse for relegation-threatened Burnley.

Maxime Esteve is hurt and cannot carry on.

The Clarets have been forced to send on Bashir Humphreys earlier than expected.

    West Ham 1-0 Brighton

West Ham are all over Brighton. Where has this performance been hiding?

Full-back Ollie Scarles dribbles into the box and places a shot just wide of the far post.

    Cole Palmer pen (15 mins)

    Cole Palmer draws Chelsea level!

Bournemouth goalkeeper Djordje Petrovic guesses the right way, gets finger to it but Palmer's penalty has just enough power to squeeze in.

  9. Postpublished at 19:45 GMT 30 December 2025

    Burnley 0-2 Newcastle

    A horrific start by Burnley.

They managed just two goals in their previous five home games - and now they have a mountain to climb to avoid another defeat.

Burnley have conceded two goals in the opening 10 minutes of a Premier League game for just the third time, after also doing so in April 2010 v Manchester City and December 2019 v Tottenham.

  10. 'Was it sufficient contact? I don't know'published at 19:44 GMT 30 December 2025

    Chelsea 0-1 Bournemouth

    Chris Sutton
Former Premier League striker on Sky Sports

I think there is contact from Antoine Semenyo there.

Was there enough contact? Was it sufficient contact? I don't know.

I would say Chelsea should be awarded a penalty here. Antoine Semenyo's right knee just went into the back of Estevao Willian's leg.

  11. VAR

Video Assistant Referee - penalty givenpublished at 19:44 GMT 30 December 2025

    Chelsea 0-1 Bournemouth

The referee is told to go to the screen to review that penalty shout for Chelsea and it is given, Antoine Semenyo does catch Estevao on the back of the leg.

Chelsea with the swift chance to equalise here.

  12. Postpublished at 19:43 GMT 30 December 2025

    Nottingham Forest 0-0 Everton

Nottingham Forest build a first bit of pressure on the Everton penalty area, but Callum Hudson-Odoi's harmless cross from the left is comfortably collected by Jordan Pickford, who catches it unchallenged.

Better signs for the hosts in the past few minutes, but it's been a quiet start at the City Ground as the goals begin to go in elsewhere in tonight's matches. Sigh.

Jarrod Bowen has equalled Michail Antonio for the most combined goals and assists recorded for West Ham United in the Premier League (101 each).

He's also been booked for a cynical shirt pull on Maxim De Cuyper.

40 million down the drain? Joelinton has scored again!

    Ant, Malvern

A lot of criticism for Gordon the past few days in the Toon, so great to see him provide an assist so early. There’s definitely a player there, just needs to show it more consistently!

  15. VAR

Video Assistant Referee - possible penaltypublished at 19:42 GMT 30 December 2025

    Chelsea 0-1 Bournemouth

High tempo start to this game as Chelsea fans want a penalty following a challenge by Antoine Semenyo on Estevao.

The referee waves play on but VAR will take a look at this...

  16. 'Newcastle have come flying out of the blocks'published at 19:42 GMT 30 December 2025

    Burnley 0-2 Newcastle

    Dion Dublin
Former Aston Villa and Man Utd striker on BBC Radio 5 Live

I think they were looking at a push in the back of one of the defenders, and that is what VAR were looking at, but it's been cleared.

Fair play to Newcastle, they've come flying out of the blocks.

  17. Postpublished at 19:42 GMT 30 December 2025

    Burnley 0-2 Newcastle

There was a lengthy VAR check for Newcastle's second goal - Burnley complained there was a deliberate push by Bruno Guimaraes on Josh Laurent before Yoane Wissa bundled home.

The VAR check is complete and the goal has been cleared - the Toon Army are in full blown party mood.

  18. 'Worst possible start for Chelsea'published at 19:40 GMT 30 December 2025

    Chelsea 0-1 Bournemouth

    Chris Sutton
Former Premier League striker on Sky Sports

Could Robert Sanchez have done better there?

I reckon he could have caught that one but he didn't. He just palmed it down into David Brooks' path.

This is the worst possible start for Chelsea, but Bournemouth have been the livelier team.

  19. 'Rice got a big kick on his knee against Brighton'published at 19:40 GMT 30 December 2025

Arsenal v Aston Villa (20:15 GMT)

    Arsenal

Arsenal boss Mikel Arteta, speaking to Sky Sports on why Declan Rice misses out: "Declan got a big kick in his knee during the match [against Brighton], at the start of the match actually, and by the time he finished the match he had a massive swell up. The game was too early for him to consider."

On if it's a short term injury for him: "I think so. I hope that when the swelling comes out he can function [and] he will be fine. We miss Riccy [Calafiori] as well today."

    GOAL - West Ham 1-0 Brightonpublished at 19:39 GMT 30 December 2025

    Jarrod Bowen (10 mins)

    So many goals!

West Ham go ahead through a simple route-one move. Lucas Paqueta threads a ball forward which Jarrod Bowen outsprints a defender to latch onto before poking the ball past an onrushing Bart Verbruggen.
