Ayden Heaven, Lisandro Martinez and Luke Shawm as in the warm-up. Patrick Dorgu as left wing-back, Diogo Dalot on the right.

  2. HALF-TIMEpublished at 20:16 GMT 30 December 2025

    Nottingham Forest 0-1 Everton

This is an Everton side which defended a 1-0 lead at Old Trafford despite playing with 10 men from the 13th minute, of course.

There are few teams more difficult to break down when they have a lead to defend - David Moyes's side have still not lost from that position in the Premier League this season, don't forget.

Oleksandr Zinchenko manages to register the hosts' first shot on target a couple of minutes before half-time, but this is going perfectly to plan for Everton at the break.

  3. INJURY TIMEpublished at 20:16 GMT 30 December 2025

    Chelsea 2-2 Bournemouth

Seven minutes of stoppage time here because of - as commentator Jonathan Pearce accurately describes it - all the kerfuffles.

I think this'll be given. Lewis Dunk's arms are spread out away from his body as he blocks a very close-range shot from Wilson with his arm.

The ref has been sent to the screen - but not before he books West Ham's Maximilian Kilman for arguing.

    This is marvellous entertainment.

Eighteen attempts, nine on target, three goals - and we've not even reached half-time.

    This could end 4-4.

West Ham are fuming. Callum Wilson wants a penalty for a handball.

    It'll be checked.

  11. Wolves fans making some noisepublished at 20:13 GMT 30 December 2025

Man Utd v Wolves (20:15 GMT)

    Simon Stone
BBC Sport Chief Football News Reporter at Old Trafford

The away section is sold out and the Wolves fans are making quite a bit of noise.

They may (or may not) have given up on Premier League survival but they have not given up on their club.

    Forget 'six seven', kids.

Will it be three or four at the back for Manchester United?

  13. 'Watkins is just ahead of the others'published at 20:13 GMT 30 December 2025

Arsenal v Aston Villa (20:15 GMT)

    Ellen White
Former England striker on BBC Radio 5 Live

On who is the second choice striker for England at the World Cup:

I don't think I could move away from Ollie Watkins. He has proven that he can be on the bench during an international tournament. He has come off the bench and scored a very crucial goal [v Netherlands at Euro 2024].

To do that knowing that you are not going to start is a mental challenge in itself. He is just ahead of the other two but for them it's about being consistent, staying injury free and staying in goalscoring form.

    Burnley 1-2 Newcastle

    Oh. My. Word.

Burnley have an effort cleared off the line - Fabian Schar is the player in the right place at the right time to hack Marcus Edwards attempt clear just as the home side thought they were about to equalise.

If Semenyo is to leave I think Bornemouth have to get Justin Kluivet back in form and I’m glad to see him score ( And that’s saying something as a Southampton fan!). Last season he went on a mad run of goals and assists!

Goals galore at Christmas, but that is largely down to sheer fatigue from the players. Why the Premier League continues to resist a proper winter break is beyond me, especially with the hope of English clubs going further in Europe.

Yoane Wissa is in the mood to make up for lost time.

The forward, who is making his first Premier League start for Newcastle, has just gone close with another attempt from a tight angle.

Then Harvey Barnes is denied by his former team-mate Martin Dubravka before Bruno Guimaraes fires wide.

    Chances galore at Turf Moor.
