    Arsenal 0-0 Aston Villa

Villa are causing Arsenal all kinds of problems with their quick attacks. Ollie Watkins cuts in from the left side of the box but shoots well wide. Not enough curl on it.

  3. KICK-OFFpublished at 20:32 GMT 30 December 2025

    Nottingham Forest 0-1 Everton

Everton have won five of their last six away matches in the Premier League in which they led at half-time - and have lost just one of their last 14.

Nottingham Forest need a flash of inspiration from somewhere. Will Douglas Luiz be the man to deliver it? He's on for Nicolas Dominguez for the second half.

Ollie Watkins decides to shoot from about 45 yards out but it's blocked by Gabriel, who was standing near him. Ambitious.

Arsenal winger Leandro Trossard has a volley blocked in the box but Villa the better team right now. Amadou Onana is causing Arsenal plenty of problems.

Ooooh, Benjamin Sesko holds up the ball well on the left-hand side of the penalty box. He manages to get himself back into a good position after being forced to the byeline then a good turn helps him get the shot away but it drags just wide.

A poor finish. Watkins just has to bend that into the far corner. You have to work Raya there, just hit the target. It's a big moment for Villa.

Villa waste a good chance here. Youri Tielemans picks out Morgan Rogers, who fails to find Ollie Watkins in the box. The visitors are playing some good football.

  9. 'What an opportunity for Watkins'published at 20:29 GMT 30 December 2025

What an opportunity. No wonder Ollie Watkins is disappointed.

Gyokeres is not holding it up. You have to hold i up better than that.

You think he's going to sweep it into the far corner.

  10. Man Utd too slowpublished at 20:29 GMT 30 December 2025

    Man Utd 0-0 Wolves

    Simon Stone
BBC Sport Chief Football News Reporter at Old Trafford

Manchester United don't seem to have their tactics quite right here.

They are moving the ball across their back three but it is too slow and Wolves are just sitting in, waiting for a long pass, which they deal with quite easily.

The visitors look sharper on the break.

This is not going to be an easy night for Ruben Amorim's side on this evidence.

Villa's first chance and it's birthday boy Ollie Watkins.

Ezri Konsa wins the ball off Viktor Gyokeres in the centre circle and strides forward. It ends up with Watkins, 30, who shoots wide from 10 yards out.

    Clinton Morrison

I don't think that is a penalty. Onana didn't believe himself. He wanted to pass to Watkins. The space opened up, Gabriel was out of position and he should have got his shot away.

  13. A fitting send-off for Burnley at half-timepublished at 20:27 GMT 30 December 2025

    HT: Burnley 1-2 Newcastle

    Ciaran Kelly
BBC Sport reporter at Turf Moor

It is rather fitting that Tubthumping by Chumbawamba plays out over the public address system as the players leave the field at half-time at Turf Moor.

Burnley got knocked down - but they have got up again after pulling a goal back.

Newcastle United were cruising after racing into a two-goal lead but there is a reason why this side have dropped 13 points from winning positions in the Premier League.

The visitors have just not looked wholly comfortable.

Villa midfielder Amadou Onana growing into this. He goes on a surging run into the box and goes down following a William Saliba tackle but it's not a penalty, rightfully so. Just a corner.

When they moved away from the deliberate handball definition of handball they completely messed it up and just caused confusion and controversy. You just don't know what is an actual handball anymore.

I realise times have changed when it comes to kits - and all clubs maximise that particular revenue stream.

But Wolves traditional colours are so distinctive - and they do not clash with Manchester United's red shirts.

I remember Brazil wearing blue. It just doesn't seem right.

    What a half of football!

West Ham v Brighton is the second game in Premier League history to see three first-half penalties awarded after Fulham v Bolton in August, 2002.

Danny Welbeck scored his first penalty but missed his second. Lucas Paqueta made no mistake with his spot-kick.
