Liverpool look to be playing with a diamond in midfield.

Ryan Gravenberch at the base, Curtis Jones to the left, Alexis Mac Allister left and Dominik Szoboszlai at the top.

That's an incredible save, but it's also a poor miss from Richarlison. It's a really poor finish, but a strong start from Tottenham.

Salah has been poor this season. He deserved to be dropped. Saying he's "earned his place" is what annoys me the most. Not how it works, mate. Stevie G got dropped by Brendan R, didn't have a strop. That's a true Red.

    Inter Milan 0-0 Liverpool

A decent start for a Liverpool side that all eyes are on.

Hugo Ekitike has set up on the left of the attack but makes a dart into the middle as Alexander Isak looks to find him.

  5. GREAT SAVE!published at 20:02 GMT 9 December 2025

    Tottenham 0-0 Slavia Prague

Wow! What a save that is in the opening 45 seconds!

It's really good pressure from Tottenham and Wilson Odobert shifts it across for Richarlison but the Brazilian's effort is tipped over the bar brilliantly by Jindrich Stanek.

The San Siro is an iconic venue and it's familiar ground for Liverpool and the travelling support.

Just over 4,000 Liverpool fans have made the trip over to Italy and they're right up in the gods.

It's Liverpool's fourth visit to the San Siro in the space of four years and they've won on each of the last three occasions.

They could do with carrying on that run tonight.

Son Heung-min has returned to Spurs and what an ovation for a true legend of the club. He did not get the chance to say a proper farewell when he left for Los Angeles FC in the summer, so it is fitting he can do it now.

"I hope you guys don't forget me", is his opening line.

Not much chance of that after 173 goals in 454 games, signing off after finishing as captain when Spurs won the Europa League against Manchester United in Bilbao.

Unless I'm mistaken, he's just invited the Spurs fans to Los Angeles. Hope he's got a big house.

Wonderful player for this football club.

Despite playing 18 games in the Champions League as a player, Chelsea's Italy-born boss Enzo Maresca never faced an Italian opponent, although he did make 10 appearances in the competition for Juventus.

Chelsea and Maresca return to Italy at the end of January.

They will hope their place in the last 16 is confirmed by the time they play defending Serie A champions Napoli on 28 January.

Slot's made this about Salah, the whole squad, with the exception of Szoboszlai, have been abysmal yet Salah is the only one repeatedly dropped from the squad. Almost as if he's been singled out by Slot. Time for coaches to start taking the blame for poor decisions and team selections.

"This will always be my home. I will never forget you. Please stick with me and come visit me in LA any time!

The atmosphere is cranking up here at the San Siro. Much of the pre-match focus has been on Mohamed Salah but this is a crucial evening for Liverpool.

With nine points in five games, they're far from guaranteed qualification to the knockout stages yet and with a trip to Marseille coming up in January, victory would certainly calm the nerves.

This could well be Chelsea's toughest test in Europe so far this season.

Atalanta, who won the Europa League in 2023-24, might be 12th in Serie A but they're level on 10 points with Chelsea in Europe.

Since losing 4-0 at defending champions Paris St-Germain in September, the team from Lombardy have beaten Club Brugge, Marseille and Eintracht Frankfurt.

They're also have one of the meanest defences in the competition after three clean sheets in five game.

  17. Slot says he is not 'weak'published at 19:49 GMT 9 December 2025

Inter Milan v Liverpool (20:00 GMT)

Arne Slot's press conference was obviously littered with questions about Mohamed Salah. Here's what the Liverpool boss had to say.

"Usually I am calm and polite, but that doesn't mean I am weak. If a player has these commands about so many things, then it's about me and the club to react. We reacted in a way you can see - he's not here.

"I don't feel my authority is undermined, it is not the way I feel it. After tomorrow we will look at the situation. There is always the possibility to return for a player. I have no clue [if he has played his last game for Liverpool] - I cannot answer that question at this point in time."

This season, though, is a completely different story.

It didn't quite work out like that.
