Early starts don't tend to provide much drama but this high noon showdown has already produced chances at both ends of the pitch.

Four attempts in the opening 10 minutes - two on target.

  2. CLOSE!published at 10 mins

    Crystal Palace 0-0 Man Utd

    The chances keep coming!

Bruno Fernandes whips in a delightful cross from a free-kick into the Palace box and it's inch perfect for Casemiro.

But the United player cannot get it on target and it flashes wide.

    United should be ahead.

Manchester United's travelling fans are singing their praise of legendary former striker Eric Cantona.

The first rendition brought a smattering of boos from the home supporters.

Selhurst Park was the scene of Cantona's most infamous incident, when he was sent off and then leapt into the crowd to assault a fan who had abused him.

Cantona was initially sent to prison before the sentence was changed and he ended up serving a nine-month ban from playing.

Too easy for Jean-Philippe Mateta who rolls Matthijs de Ligt and darts into Manchester United's penalty area before firing into the side netting.

Mateta's pace did United's defence and the French forward will be disappointed not to have got that on target.

Another replay of that early chance for Casemiro.

That was a really good stop by Dean Henderson who stuck out a big hand to deny Casemiro.

Palace have kept six clean sheets in 12 Premier League games this season - and Henderson has been a big part of that.

That was one of those situations where Casemiro was too close to Dean Henderson.

The Brazilian lacked a striker's instinct to lift a delicate effort over the Crystal Palace keeper and instead tried to power it and Henderson was able to block it without moving, then reacted quickly to grab the loose ball before any damage was done.

    This doesn't look good.

Palace's joint top scorer Ismaila Sarr lands awkwardly and has hurt his ankle. He thumps the ground in frustration and is now receiving treatment.

The long throw - nothing sexy about it but it just asks questions of the home defence almost immediately. That was a chance, that was close mate.

Almost immediately Manchester United win a throw in deep inside the Palace half. It's hurled into the box and there is pinball before Dean Henderson denies Casemiro.

Zirkzee is hugely ineffective. Shaw has been so so poor. Bring in Mainoo, push Fernandes up and bring in Heaven. Better still, go 4-4-2. Yes OK, no chance of that! Palace to win in first gear.

Today is Oliver Glasner's 200th game as a manager in Europe's big-five leagues, taking charge of 136 in the German Bundesliga (68 Wolfsburg, 68 Eintracht Frankfurt) and today his 64th in the Premier League as Crystal Palace boss.

The big question: will he sign a new contract and commit his future to Palace?
