Ex-Coventry City goalkeeper on BBC CWR

It's looking quite good when Coventry get the ball, but they look quite vulnerable defensively.

    Birmingham 2-1 Coventry

A big test for leaders Coventry now. Can they come back for a second time?

They cruised to a comfortable 3-0 win over a 10-man Birmingham side in the reverse fixture at the CBS Arena in September.

Not going to be so easy this afternoon.

  3. SUBSTITUTIONpublished at 12:23 GMT 4 January

    QPR 1-0 Sheff Wed

Well it was eventful for Rumarn Burrell - a glaring miss, a goal, another close shave but his afternoon is over.

It looks like a hamstring issue and he is replaced by Rayan Kolli.

Three goals inside 17 minutes at St Andrew's. Anyone even had a chance to catch their breath yet?

  5. Postpublished at 12:21 GMT 4 January

    QPR 1-0 Sheff Wed

A cross into the near post is flicked towards goal by Rumarn Burrell but Pierce Charles is positioned well to make the save.

The concerning thing for QPR is Burrell is now holding his hamstring.

    Lewis Koumas (17 mins)

This is turning into a classic already.

Patrick Roberts threads a lovely ball through to Lewis Koumas who was allowed to drift in behind.

The Liverpool loanee rounds Carl Rushworth and slots in from a tight angle. Great pass, great finish.

    Blues lead again.

    Birmingham 1-1 Coventry

Brilliant save from Beadle, great reflexes there.

A fantastic save to his left hand side having stayed on his line.

    Rumarn Burrell (14 mins)

No mistake from Rumarn Burrell this time.

Nicolas Madsen slips in Burrell and he beats Pierce Charles at his near post.

That is 10 goals for the season now for the former Burton man who hit 11 last season.

  9. GREAT SAVE!published at 12:16 GMT 4 January

    Birmingham 1-1 Coventry

Coventry really should be 2-1 up now. A great cross comes in from the right and Liam Kitching is unmarked about eight yards out but can't divert his header past James Beadle in the Blues goal.

  10. Postpublished at 12:15 GMT 4 January

    Birmingham 1-1 Coventry

Ellis Simms spins into the right channel and outmuscles Jack Robinson.

It opens up for him and Jack Rudoni is bursting into the box, but Simms opts to go for goal instead of pulling it back and James Beadle is able to make the save.

Great chance for the Sky Blues to turn the game on its head within nine minutes.

    QPR 0-0 Sheff Wed

There has also been a late change to the QPR line up.

Steve Cook is starting in place of Liam Morrison who has picked up an injury in the warm up.

Harvey Vale is on the bench.

  12. Postpublished at 12:12 GMT 4 January

    Birmingham 1-1 Coventry

There were just 113 seconds between Birmingham's opener and Coventry's equaliser. The ball was only back in play for 36 seconds when Josh Eccles curled it past Blues keeper James Beadle.

Great start to this game at St Andrew's.

  13. Postpublished at 12:12 GMT 4 January

    QPR 0-0 Sheff Wed

    Should be 1-0 to QPR.

Richard Kone's effort is well saved by Pierce Charles but Rumarn Burrell blazes the follow up over the bar with the goal gaping.

Head in hands from the Londoners' top scorer who already has nine goals this season.

  14. 'Eccles has no right to score from there'published at 12:10 GMT 4 January

    Birmingham 1-1 Coventry

    Steve Ogrizovic
Ex-Coventry City goalkeeper on BBC CWR

That is how to hit back.

Josh Eccles has no right to score from there, he just side foots it into the far corner.

    QPR 0-0 Sheff Wed

Gabriel Otegbayo dwells on the ball at the back and QPR's Richard Kone steals it away.

The striker heads towards the edge of the Sheffield Wednesday box before being crowded out.

What a West Midlands derby already!

Josh Eccles is allowed to advance down the centre of the park and then bends a beauty into the far corner from about 25 yards out.

    Warmed up now?

    Birmingham 1-0 Coventry

    Rob Gurney
    BBC Radio CWR Sport

The Sky Blues were all over the place defensively.

An easy volleyed finish, he took it very well to be fair to him but he was given acres of space to do so.

  18. Postpublished at 12:07 GMT 4 January

    QPR 0-0 Sheff Wed

Three quarters of the Loftus Road pitch is in shade but it all seems to be soft under foot for the players.

Some early pressure from QPR is dealt with by the visitors.

Seven of Sheffield Wednesday's nine substitutes are 21 or under today.

  19. goal

GOAL: Birmingham 1-0 Coventrypublished at 12:07 GMT 4 January

    Marvin Ducksch (6 mins)

    Great start for Birmingham!

And what a hit this is on the volley by Marvin Ducksch. New signing Kai Wagner races down the left and lifts a ball to the back post for Ducksch to hammer home a phenomenal first time strike.

    Birmingham 0-0 Coventry

A bit of a mist hazing over St Andrew's amid the bitterly cold weather. An early corner for Coventry, who are identifiable thanks to their bright orange changed strip, but it's easily cleared at the near post. A bit of frost still on the pitch too. Proper winter football, this.
