    Birmingham 2-1 Coventry

Paik Seung-ho's head has been bandaged up by the Birmingham City medical staff and he's going to try and play on by the looks of it.

    Play resumes once again.

Some blood has been spilt, Paik Seung-ho caught by a high boot from Jack Rudoni.

He did duck down, in Rudoni's defence, it was an accidental collision.

There will be a few minutes delay here now.

    Birmingham 2-1 Coventry

Ephron Mason-Clark is causing a few problems for Blues full-back Tomoki Iwata. He brings down the Coventry winger and it allows Matt Grimes to send in a free-kick from a promising position on the left.

Yet again, Birmingham manage to get it away.

A break in play as Blues midfielder Paik Seung-ho is down with a head injury after some brave defensive work from the Coventry set-piece.

    Birmingham 2-1 Coventry

Ephron Mason-Clark works a yard of space for Coventry and fires in a shot from distance but it's a fairly tame daisy-cutter and James Beadle can get down to make a regulation save.

    QPR 1-0 Sheff Wed

A disappointing start to the second half of the season for QPR after three strong wins at home in December. Hoping today puts us back in touching distance of the play-off positions!

Coventry can't make anything of the free-kick, but they're really pushing in the first seven minutes of this second half.

  7. YELLOW CARDpublished at 13:12 GMT 4 January

    Birmingham 2-1 Coventry

Another Coventry corner, another one dealt with by Birmingham. Here come the Sky Blues again though as Tatsuhiro Sakamoto is hacked down on the touchline by Birmingham debutant Kai Wagner, who goes into the book.

Birmingham are struggling, they can't clear their lines, they can't get out.

  9. SUBSTITUTIONpublished at 13:10 GMT 4 January

    QPR 1-0 Sheff Wed

Karamoko Dembele has replaced Kwame Poku for QPR.

That is the third change they have had to make today.

    Birmingham 2-1 Coventry

Some good early pressure in this second half for Coventry. First they win a corner on the left, which Blues deal with.

Now they're pressing high up again, dominating the ball. Milan van Ewijk launches in a long throw from the right but Birmingham can clear again.

    QPR 1-0 Sheff Wed

Back at it at Loftus Road.

Sheffield Wednesday had one touch in QPR's 18-yard area in that first period.

They are only 1-0 down though.

    Birmingham 2-1 Coventry

Jack Rudoni loses control for Coventry on halfway and then slides in on Blues midfielder Patrick Roberts, giving away a foul.

It gives Birmingham a chance to send it forward early in the half but the ref spots a foul in the area and the moment passes.

    HT: Birmingham 2-1 Coventry

If Coventry fail to win today, it will be the first time this season they have lost twice in a three-game period.

It will also be the first time they've gone three games without a win since September.

Plenty of work for Frank Lampard's side to do to stop this mini-wobble.

    HT: Birmingham 2-1 Coventry

Birmingham have only won one of their past nine West Midlands derbies against Coventry (D4 L4), which came via a 3-0 win in the Championship in April 2024.

Can they hold on for another victory today?

It could be a massive result for Chris Davies and his future at the club.

    HT: Birmingham 2-1 Coventry

    Richard Wilford
    BBC Radio WM commentator

A very entertaining and intense first half.

I thought Blues started the half well, a really high quality goal, but the disappointment was letting Coventry straight back into the game and letting them then take control, showing why they are top of the Championship.

Blues then got the lead and have since managed the game well, a bit nervy early on, but plenty for them to do against a strong Coventry outfit.

  18. HALF-TIMEpublished at 12:53 GMT 4 January

    QPR 1-0 Sheff Wed

Rumarn Burrell's 10th goal of the season has QPR in front and they have been very comfortable.

Burrell also blazed a shot over the bar with the goal gaping after Pierce Charles had denied Richard Kone.

The forward's eventful half was brought to a premature end with what appears to be a hamstring issue.

Sheffield Wednesday have failed to create a single chance or even manage a shot in anger.

It all rather smacked of a training ground work out for the home side.

A brilliant first half in this West Midlands derby comes to an end.

New Birmingham signing Kai Wagner earned himself an assist within six minutes of his debut by teeing up Marvin Ducksch for a fantastic volley.

But Josh Eccles equalised 113 seconds later for Coventry with a lovely curling finish from 20 yards.

Liverpool loanee Lewis Koumas then drifted in behind and rounded Sky Blues keeper Carl Rushworth before slotting in from a tight angle in the 17th minute to restore the lead for Chris Davies' side.

More of the same in the second 45 please.
