  1. SUBSTITUTIONpublished at 12:49 GMT 4 January

    QPR 1-0 Sheff Wed

Jonathan Varane is the second QPR man to have his afternoon ended before time.

He is replaced by Sam Field.

This follows the earlier substitution of goalscorer Rumarn Burrell.

Also they had to make a change to their starting line up when Liam Morrison was injured in the warm up.

The good news for QPR is Sheffield Wednesday look incapable of taking advantage.

We are into four additional minutes.

  2. Postpublished at 12:48 GMT 4 January

    Birmingham 2-1 Coventry

Ephron Mason-Clark does well to chase down a long ball and keep it in play for Coventry.

He drives in from the left touchline and skips past Tomoki Iwata. His cross from the byeline is blocked and then Mason-Clark gives away a foul.

Promising position again for the Sky Blues, but no reward.

Coventry's counter-attack is looking extremely dangerous.

  4. INJURY TIMEpublished at 12:46 GMT 4 January

    Birmingham 2-1 Coventry

Four minutes added on at the end of the first half.

Plenty of probing for Coventry but Blues standing firm as we approach the interval.

  6. Postpublished at 12:44 GMT 4 January

    Birmingham 2-1 Coventry

    Richard Wilford
    BBC Radio WM commentator

Blues are pressing well, but there has been really impressive ball movement from Coventry.

  7. Postpublished at 12:44 GMT 4 January

    Birmingham 2-1 Coventry

A cross comes in from the right for Coventry and it's a bit awkward for Blues keeper James Beadle but he does well to come out and catch it low down to thwart the attack.

  8. Postpublished at 12:41 GMT 4 January

    Birmingham 2-1 Coventry

A cleared cross drops for Coventry's Matt Grimes about 20 yards out and he opts for the first time volley.

Straight at Blues keeper James Beadle though.

  9. YELLOW CARDpublished at 12:38 GMT 4 January

    Birmingham 2-1 Coventry

Blues forward Marvin Ducksch pulls back Josh Eccles on halfway and goes into the book. The German is complaining but he had hold of a good chunk of Eccles' shirt and that's standard fare for a ref to brandish the yellow there.

  10. Postpublished at 12:36 GMT 4 January

    Birmingham 2-1 Coventry

One to forget for Ellis Simms. It's a lovely ball into the box from Coventry skipper Matt Grimes but Simms can't make decent contact and slices his first time effort out for a goal-kick. Just. Almost a throw-in.

A presentable chance goes begging for the Sky Blues.

  11. Postpublished at 12:35 GMT 4 January

    QPR 1-0 Sheff Wed

The Sheffield Wednesday goalkeeper Pierce Charles is down now.

One of these tactical breaks in play or a genuine issue?

    He is up and fine...

  12. Postpublished at 12:35 GMT 4 January

    Birmingham 2-1 Coventry

Coventry are just making a bit of a mess of dealing with a few defensive situations. They eventually get a ball into the box clear but another one comes in moments later.

It drops for Blues striker Jay Stansfield on the edge of the area but he slices it a long way over on the volley. Tough when it drops from the sky like that - probably with ice on it this afternoon as well.

  13. Postpublished at 12:32 GMT 4 January

    Birmingham 2-1 Coventry

    Steve Ogrizovic
Ex-Coventry City goalkeeper on BBC CWR

Coventry are looking quite bright in the top third of the pitch.

It will open up if they keep playing like this.

Though as good as they have looked going forward they have been a little bit lacking defensively.

  14. Postpublished at 12:32 GMT 4 January

    QPR 1-0 Sheff Wed

Nicolas Madsen already has an assist and fancies a goal now.

He tries his luck with a free kick from distance but it curls straight into the waiting arms of Pierce Charles.

  15. Postpublished at 12:32 GMT 4 January

    Birmingham 2-1 Coventry

Coventry win a throw on the right. In comes Milan van Ewijk's trademark rocket and there's a bit of pinball in the area before Birmingham are able to hack it clear.

  16. CLOSE!published at 12:30 GMT 4 January

    Birmingham 2-1 Coventry

A half-chance for Birmingham as they work it well. Patrick Roberts plays it to Marvin Ducksch on the left of the box, who slides to make contact but fires his effort into the side-netting,

Not quite able to add to his excellent opener for Blues, which already seems like a long time ago.

  17. Postpublished at 12:29 GMT 4 January

    QPR 1-0 Sheff Wed

It is a very cold day and QPR goalkeeper Ben Hamer is in the shaded part of the pitch.

He may need to start running laps around his 18-yard box to try to keep warm.

Hamer has barely touched the ball so far with Sheffield Wednesday struggling to hold onto possession and create anything.

It is only 1-0 but the home side are in total control.

  19. Postpublished at 12:28 GMT 4 January

    Birmingham 2-1 Coventry

Birmingham are without a win in their past seven games but they lead here and have still only lost one home game in the league this season (W6 D5).

Blues are certainly a different side on home soil.

  20. Postpublished at 12:25 GMT 4 January

    Birmingham 2-1 Coventry

Tatsuhiro Sakamoto cuts inside from the right for Coventry and floats a cross to the back post.

Ephron Mason-Clark challenges with Blues defender Tomoki Iwata and wins the header but it goes wide of the mark.

    Well defended by Iwata.
