    Martin Keown
Former Arsenal defender on TNT Sports

Club Brugge switch off at that far post. Madueke couldn't really miss. Zubimendi whips in a beautiful cross, it's a wonderful ball. Madueke has the honour of heading it in, it couldn't be easier.

Erling Haaland gets a ball in the, well, you know, the 'unmentionables'.

He's trying to run it off but looks to be in bother.

  3. PENALTY TO NEWCASTLEpublished at 21:09 GMT 10 December 2025

    Bayer Leverkusen 1-0 Newcastle

Oh, Mark Flekken, what are you doing?

He dallies on the ball and Nick Woltemade pounces. The keeper dives in and brings the striker down.

    Silly.

  4. CLOSE!published at 21:08 GMT 10 December 2025

    Bayer Leverkusen 1-0 Newcastle

Lewis Hall wins the ball high and continues his run into the box. He's in two minds whether to look for Harvey Barnes at the far post or have a shot himself but he does neither in the end.

    Noni Madueke

    What. On. Earth.

Club Brugge switch off at the back as Martín Zubimendi whips a cross into the box.

The keeper is caught out and Noni Madueke is left with the simple task of heading it in from point-blank range.

    That's quietened the crowd!

Arsenal were unusually porous in that first half, allowing Club Brugge to have four shots on target .

That's the most in any Champions League game under Mikel Arteta along with last season against Paris St-Germain.

But this is something Arsenal just do not do this season. In only four games this season have they allowed more than four shots on target over 90 minutes.

  9. YELLOW CARDpublished at 21:06 GMT 10 December 2025

    Bayer Leverkusen 1-0 Newcastle

Ernest Poku picks up a very soft booking for a stray hand in the face of Harvey Barnes.

There wasn't much in that at all.

  14. 'Plenty of positives for Arsenal'published at 21:04 GMT 10 December 2025

    HT: Club Brugge 0-1 Arsenal

    Chris Sutton
Former Celtic striker on MOTD: UEFA Champions League

Arsenal are missing Declan Rice's physicality in the middle of the park and they have been quite easy to play through - it has happened a few times. But there are plenty of positives for the Gunners. Madueke has looked a threat on top of his goal and Norgaard, in an alien position, has been steady.

Lewis-Skelly and Odegaard look a bit under-cooked in terms of match fitness but they need these minutes. It shows Arsenal's strength that they are able to do this, and be winning away from home in the Champions League with so many players missing.

Their main aim tonight, as well as the win, is to come through unscathed in terms of injuries.

You can hear more from Sutton on MOTD: Uefa Champions League at 22:40 BST on BBC One and the BBC Sport website and app.

  15. What can Newcastle do to win in the second half?published at 21:03 GMT 10 December 2025

    HT: Bayer Leverkusen 1-0 Newcastle

    Lucy Ward
Former Leeds striker on TNT Sports at BayArena

Bayer Leverkusen are defending really well and are playing a perfect game plan.

They need to move the ball quicker, they need to have more runs in behind into the space and they need to make sure that they can get the switch.

  19. A big second half in a huge week for Newcastlepublished at 20:59 GMT 10 December 2025

    HT: Bayer Leverkusen 1-0 Newcastle

    Ciaran Kelly
    BBC Sport reporter

Newcastle United's issue of late has been closing out games when in front - but the visitors have an altogether different challenge after the break at the BayArena.

Eddie Howe's side have to find a way to draw level while also ensuring Bayer Leverkusen do not hurt them on the break, as the hosts very nearly did through the rapid Ernest Poku just before half-time.

This is a big second half in a huge week. As it stands, Newcastle are slipping to 16th place in the Champions League standings.

  20. Man City hot out the blockspublished at 20:58 GMT 10 December 2025

HT: Real Madrid 1-2 Man City

The image displays a bar chart illustrating the number of first-half goals scored by three teams in a single season of the Champions League. Only two teams had scored more first-half goals than Man City. Bayern Munich led with 12 goals. Chelsea followed with 9 goals. Man City had scored 8 goals.

Should we be surprised Man City have netted this half?

They've been pretty good before half-time in this season's Champions League, with only two teams scoring more than their eight.

More concerning that so far they only managed four in second halves?
