Former Everton midfielder on MOTD: UEFA Champions League

Newcastle are still doing well at getting up to the edge of the Leverkusen area really easily, but Leverkusen put everyone behind the ball and Newcastle don't know what to do. When they lose the ball, they are so open, Leverkusen could have had more goals on the counter-attack.

You can hear more from Osman on MOTD: Uefa Champions League at 22:40 BST on BBC One and the BBC Sport website and app.

    Eerie, eerie feeling.

Real Madrid have been used to this over the last seven games. They have been used to getting beat and that is not what this great football club is about.

I think they have been decent in the first half, I don't feel they deserve to be down 2-1.

Real Madrid are losing and it is silence [inside the Bernabeu]. That is not what Xabi Alonso will want to hear. There is an eerie atmosphere inside the ground.

A big chance for Arsenal to double the lead right at the end of the first half but Noni Madueke is denied his second goal by Dani van den Heuvel's flying save.

"He's like a bolt of electricity," former Arsenal defender Martin Keown tells TNT Sports about Madueke.

Credit to Brugge in this first half. They’ve created plenty of chances against Arsenal, more than most teams do, but they are lacking quality in their finishing and Raya is on excellent form so far tonight.

    Real Madrid 1-2 Man City

    Jonathan Woodgate
Former Real Madrid defender on BBC Radio 5 Live at Bernabeu

That is some counter-attack, especially from Nico O'Reilly.

Erling Haaland comes from nowhere and he makes a great strike.

It was a great save from Thibaut Courtois.

  13. GREAT SAVE!published at 20:47 GMT 10 December 2025

    Real Madrid 1-2 Man City

Oh my word, an outstanding double save from Thibaut Courtois!

A quick break from Manchester City is sparked by a brilliant Nico O'Reilly run. The ball comes to Erling Haaland, whose shot is parried away to the feet of Rayan Cherki, who is also denied by the big Belgian keeper.

Huge moment right before the break.

One pass completely opened Arsenal up. Down the left hand side, Brugge are dictating. Raya gets down really well to make that save.

    Club Brugge 0-1 Arsenal

    Alex Howell

Arsenal haven't been able to clear the ball properly or keep hold of possession for the last few minutes and it's allowed Brugge to build confidence.

  17. GREAT SAVE!published at 20:46 GMT 10 December 2025

    Club Brugge 0-1 Arsenal

Arsenal could do with the half-time whistle!

Club Brugge have looked the more threatening in the last 10 minutes or so and they go close - not once but twice.

First, Christos Tzolis tries to bend it past David Raya but the Arsenal keeper makes the save before Aleksandar Stankovic also tests the Spaniard.

But should Stankovic have passed to an unmarked team-mate?

Rudiger, despite his qualities is such a liability in this VAR era.

    Real Madrid 1-2 Man City

    Jonathan Woodgate
Former Real Madrid defender on BBC Radio 5 Live at Bernabeu

You have got to get close to Erling Haaland, but you have to be nimble on your toes.

Antonio Rudiger oversteps the mark slightly.

Haaland was so composed, he knew exactly what he wanted to do. A good penalty.
