Arsenal come to Jan Breydel Stadium as the only team with a 100% record in the Champions League.

The Gunners can all but secure their place in the knockout stage of the competition with a win tonight. It would leave them on 18 points and 16 was enough to achieve a top eight finish in the table last season.

Club Brugge changed their manager on Monday and tonight is Ivan Leko’s first match in chance.

Two games are already under way - Qarabag against Ajax in Azerbaijan and Villarreal against Copenhagen in Spain.

It's tipping it down in Baku where Qarabag are beating Ajax 2-1. Qarabag, who held Chelsea to a 2-2 draw in November, started the day with seven points from five games and with high hopes of progressing to the play-offs.

They're currently 15th in the table as it stands.

Four-time European champions Ajax, meanwhile, lost all five of their previous Champions League games and look set to be eliminated.

Over in Spain, Copenhagen lead Villarreal 2-1. Former Southampton forward Mohamed Elyounoussi is among the Copenhagen goalscorers.

The Danes, who started the day in 29th in the table, are 23rd as it stands. Teams that finish 9-24 after eight games qualify for a two-legged play-off.

This already feels like a massive week in Newcastle United’s season.

Eddie Howe’s side are embarking on a run of three fixtures in three different competitions in just seven days.

And tonight’s match against Bayer Leverkusen is a huge game in its own right.

A win in Germany would see Newcastle join Liverpool, Atletico Madrid and Inter Milan on 12 points as the race for a top-eight finish heats up.

A victory would also set Newcastle up nicely for Sunday’s trip to the Stadium of Light, and the first Wear-Tyne derby in the Premier League for nearly a decade.

But any thoughts about renewing hostilities with Sunderland will be far from Howe’s mind right now.

And for good reason.

You are never quite sure what you are going to get with Leverkusen, who were beaten by Augsburg at the weekend, but the Bundesliga side have won seven of their last 10 games in all competitions.

Newcastle simply cannot afford to have one eye on what is to come.

No wonder, then, Howe has named arguably his strongest side tonight.

Mikel Arteta has made five changes to the side that lost to Aston Villa as he uses his squad to rotate his team.

Christian Norgaard starts at centre back and Viktor Gyokeres starts as striker. There is no Jurrien Timber in the squad and it's a young bench with four academy players named.

Manchester City boss Pep Guardiola would love to get one over on Real Madrid and names the same starting line-up as the one that beat Sunderland on Saturday.

It means the likes of Omar Marmoush, Savinho and Tijjani Reijnders have to make do with a place on the bench.

Eddie Howe has named a strong side as Newcastle United make four changes for their Champions League game against Bayer Leverkusen.

Lewis Hall, Sandro Tonali, Joelinton and Harvey Barnes all come into the starting XI at the BayArena following the weekend win against Burnley.

Bayer Leverkusen manager Kasper Hjulmand misses the game due to "personal reasons".

The club have confirmed that assistant Rogier Meijer will take charge, as a result, but Hjulmand is expected back on the sidelines at the weekend for the derby game against FC Koln.

Talisman Alejandro Grimaldo is fit to start tonight after recovering from a knock while Arthur and former Liverpool defender Jarell Quansah also return to the first XI.

Real Madrid have been dealt a huge blow with Kylian Mbappe deemed only fit enough for the bench.

Under-pressure Xabi Alonso makes three changes from Sunday's defeat by Celta Vigo here.

Rodrygo comes in for Mbappe, with former Chelsea defender Antonio Rudiger returning to the side in place of Eder Militao. The other change sees ex-Arsenal loanee Dani Ceballos come in for Arda Guler in midfield.

England international Jude Bellingham starts for the home side.

So, no Kylian Mbappe.

Mbappe missed open training on Tuesday with a reported fractured finger as well as a leg injury.
