Set-plays have really become Newcastle’s achilles heel.

After late concessions against Spurs and Burnley last week, Eddie Howe’s side have fallen behind courtesy of rather straightforward corner against Bayer Leverkusen tonight.

Far too easy for Robert Andrich to wriggle away from Sandro Tonali and get on the end of the delivery - even if his header takes wicked deflection off Bruno Guimaraes.

It's all calmed down a little bit after a frantic start.

Manchester City with 73% of possession but so far unable to do much with it.

Harvey Barnes once again comes inside on his left foot and has a swing but it's easy for Mark Flekken.

Something tells me Barnes' left foot isn't the best...

There's currently a protest from the home fans against the decision of the club to sack previous manager Nicky Hayen.

There's a banner saying "Merci Nicky" and also one aimed at the club saying "shame on you".

Noni Madueke is receiving treatment for an arm injury. The stoppage in play allows Mikel Arteta to give his players some instructions as they take in some refreshments on the side of the pitch.

Is Madueke going to carry on?

Newcastle get in a bit of a mess in their own but Malik Tillman can't get it under control thanks to some strong defending from Dan Burn.

Leverkusen are pushing here, Newcastle need to stand firm.

Worth noting this isn't the same Leverkusen side as that super team under Xabi Alonso but they did beat Man City last time out in Europe.

So they're well capable of turning it on.
