    Arsenal 0-0 Manchester United

Olivia Smith has sparkled in these opening 20 minutes. She dances past Anna Sandberg to the byline before flicking a looping cross in the direction of plenty in red in the six yard box, but no one can make a telling connection.

Khadija Shaw misses an open goal!

City break after Erin Cuthbert's shot is blocked and all of a sudden Shaw is played through on goal.

Hannah Hampton comes rushing out of her penalty area and Shaw runs past her, but can't direct her shot goalward under pressure from Sandy Baltimore.

The France international did brilliantly there, but Shaw really should be scoring.

It will be a tough one for Man United, but for Arsenal coming off the win at Meadow Park against Aston Villa it will be a good one.

The rain is pouring down at Meadow Park. It's rainy and windy, and quite miserable looking to be honest.

    Arsenal 0-0 Manchester United

United have their first chance to flood the Arsenal box and very nearly make it count.

Ellen Wangerheim, on her first start for the club, peels around the back post but her knock down is seized upon by Arsenal stopper Anneke Borbe.

Another corner is cleared to Erin Cuthbert at the edge of the penalty area, but the Chelsea midfielder's strike is wild and well over the crossbar.

Chelsea send in a dangerous corner and Ayaka Yamashita loses flight of it, but Alex Greenwood does well to head behind.

Caitlin Foord finds herself with acres of time and space in the Manchester United box but she can only direct her header straight at Phallon Tullis-Joyce.

Man City are a team transformed under Andree Jeglertz.

He'll have been looking at the two 5-0 wins for Chelsea and he will try and stop them running riot and use his arsenal of strikers to try and get something.

Khadija Shaw runs at Millie Bright, who holds up the City striker just long enough for Naomi Girma to come across and clear for a City corner.

    Arsenal 0-0 Manchester United

Arsenal have definitely started the better of the two teams here. Their running is full of intensity.

United meanwhile haven't been able to get hold of the ball yet really.

City defender Jade Rose does well to hold off Alyssa Thompson from running onto a long ball and shepherd the ball back to Ayaka Yamashita.

I expect both Manchester clubs to be the winners tonight. City under Jeglertz know exactly what they are about, whilst Chelsea seem unsure of their best XI. And I back United against a currently-pedestrian Arsenal. Hope to see 16yo sensation Layla Drury appear off the bench for the Reds.

Great play from stand-in skipper Lottee Wubben-Moy to step in and break up Manchester United's first real passage of play.

The defender's searching long ball isn't so great though, drifting out of play beyond the advancing Katie McCabe.

New Manchester City signing Sam Coffey was presented to fans here at Joie Stadium before kick-off.

The USA midfielder is still in pre-season mode so is building fitness but this will be a good watch to scout out the competition in the WSL.

City last won this trophy in 2022, while Chelsea are looking to defend this title and two others domestically.

Chelsea look happy to allow Manchester City to have most of the ball in the opening stages.

Sonia Bompastor's side will pick and choose their moments to press and win the ball.
