    Arsenal 1-0 Man City

Man City have averaged five big chances per game in the WSL this season, but they've yet to muster one today.

Khadija Shaw sprays a pass forward in the hopes of getting Vivianne Miedema in behind but Lotte Wubben-Moy cuts it out with a header.

Sums up the visitor's attacking offering really.

Bunny Shaw hasn't quite looked herself today.

It felt a little bit as the half went on that she was trying to make amends for that feeling when it's not quite coming off.

But you need to relax and let it happen.

We've not seen the best of her yet.

However, the news of Sonia Bompastor's contract extension comes at a difficult time for Chelsea and their manager.

Defeats to Arsenal and Manchester City in recent weeks mean the Chelsea manager has suffered back-to-back defeats for the very first time in her managerial career (P181 W149 D18 L14).

Her three defeats in Chelsea’s past five league games are more than she suffered across her first 104 league matches with Lyon and the Blues (W92 D10 L2).

"Many things can explain why we’re not where we want to be," Bompastor said, speaking ahead facing Tottenham.

"The squad depth has been affected by key players missing in key positions. That’s probably the main reason we’re in this situation.

"I’ve felt support of club since first day and that is clear. In that situation, I don’t feel under pressure. Maybe because of the language barrier I didn’t express that correctly after the game. But the support from the club has been unbelievable."

Former Manchester City defender on Football Focus

    On Chelsea extending Bompastor's contract:

I'm not surprised [at the timing] to be honest. The job she has done overall since she first came in has been a very, very good one. This year as well they are still in with a chance of winning the Champions League, they are in the League Cup final, and are still in the FA Cup, so things are positive, just not in the league this time unfortunately.

On Friday, Chelsea announced that head coach Sonia Bompastor has extended her contract with the club until 2030.

The 45-year-old arrived from Lyon in May 2024 after Emma Hayes' departure and led the Blues to an unbeaten domestic treble in her first campaign, winning the Women's Super League, FA Cup and League Cup.

However, having been crowned WSL champions for the past six seasons, Chelsea are now 12 points off leaders Manchester City in third place after a disappointing run of form.

In a statement, Bompastor thanked the club for their "unwavering support and the trust they have shown in me".

The Frenchwoman added: "It's a privilege to lead this team and I could not be prouder to represent Chelsea.

"We have so much left to fight for, we are competing on four fronts, and we will give everything. My focus is firmly on bringing more success to this amazing club."

Two players who could be key to Tottenham's fortunes this afternoon are Bethany England and Olivia Holdt .

Only Khadija Shaw’s goals (14 goals, 8 points) have yielded more points for their side in the WSL this season than those from Tottenham pair England (4 goals, 7 points) and Holdt (4 goals, 6 points).

Denmark winger Holdt is one of only two players to score from outside the area this season with both her left foot (vs Man City) and right foot (vs West Ham) alongside Brighton’s Marisa Olislagers.

While we take a breather in the first four games of the day, let's look ahead to the late afternoon kick off in north London.

High-flying Tottenham are aiming to sneak into the Champions League spots this season, but they must finish above at least two of Manchester United, Arsenal, and today's opponents Chelsea to do so.
