    FT: Sheff Wed 0-0 Blackburn

These players are not fit to wear the Blackburn Rovers shirt. They should be made to walk home from Sheffield tonight. An embarrassment of a performance.

    Birmingham 1-1 Southampton

Birmingham City boss Chris Davies has been sent to the stands.

The referee gives Davies his marching orders and he trudges down the tunnel.

  4. 'Sense of injustice around St Andrews'published at 21:46 GMT 29 December 2025

    Birmingham 1-1 Southampton

    Richard Wilford
    BBC Radio WM commentator

It would of all people be the former Villa player Cameron Archer.

Archer has done well at the near post, but Blues can't quite believe play wasn't stopped.

The sense of injustice rings around St Andrews.

    Stoke 1-2 Sheff Utd

A topsy turvy year for the Blades ends with three points!

Chris Wilder's side move further away from the danger zone thanks to goals from Jairo Riedewald and former Stoke man Tom Cannon.

Ben Wilmot halved the deficit for Mark Robins' side but they couldn't find another.

They ended the game with 10 men after Ben Pearson saw red for a cynical challenge on Patrick Bamford.

Just the four points from a possible 18 for play-off chasing Stoke in December.

  6. goal

GOAL: Birmingham 1-1 Southamptonpublished at 21:45 GMT 29 December 2025

    Cameron Archer (71 mins)

All square and who else but the former Aston Villa man?

The two subs combine for Southampton as Elias Jelert drives down the right and fires it across goal for Cameron Archer to meet and steer into the far corner.

Birmingham City are furious, feeling referee Matt Donohue got in the way during the build-up. Chris Davies is livid on the touchline.

    Leicester 2-1 Derby

You get the feeling that is a huge win for Leicester and their head coach Marti Cifuentes as they record the league double over their East Midlands rivals.

Bobby De Cordova-Reid gave the Foxes the lead only for Rhian Brewster to quickly equalise inside the first 10 minutes.

Jordan James struck his seventh goal of the season for what ultimately proved to be the winner as he ran onto a Luke Thomas ball four minutes before the interval.

That is Derby's ninth defeat in their past 10 games against Leicester.

    Norwich 0-1 Watford

Vivaldo Semedo's 90th-minute strike wins it for Watford.

The Hornets also hit the post through Max Alleyne.

Norwich struggled to create clear chances.

    Millwall 2-1 Bristol City

Millwall end a four-game winless streak.

Camiel Neghli had the Lions ahead at the break but Bristol City controlled much of the second period and levelled through Adam Randell's first Robins' goal.

But Macaulay Langstaff poked in the winner nine minutes from time for the home side to jump above their opponents into fifth place while City drop out of the play-off places.

    West Brom 2-1 QPR

A big win for the Baggies.

Just what Ryan Mason would have wanted to end 2025 following a tough few weeks.

A header in either half from George Campbell and Nat Phillips were enough for the points, despite Rangers getting back on level terms before the break through Ousmane Diakite's own goal.

    Portsmouth 2-1 Charlton

Absolutely ridiculous end to this game.

What a win that is for Portsmouth. It was 1-0 to the hosts in the 96th minute when Harvey Knibbs struck the equaliser.

But Pompey had other ideas and went straight up the other end to score a last-gasp winner through Yang Min-hyeok.

    Oxford 0-1 Swansea

Oxford's win at home to Southampton on Boxing Day was nothing more than a late Christmas present, not the start of a new year resolution.

Zan Vipotnik's first-half header was the difference, and gives Swansea their first away win since September. Vitor Matos' men are now seven points clear of safety.

  13. 'Boro fail to break Hull down'published at 21:41 GMT 29 December 2025

    FT: Middlesbrough 0-1 Hull

    Neil Maddison
Former Middlesbrough midfielder on BBC Tees

We had all the ball but without any real punch.

We had a few chances but not good enough to stick the ball in the back of the net. At the end of the day, there was a team that defended and found a way to win the game, every shot that came in was blocked.

We huffed and puffed but unfortunately we didn't put the ball away.

    Wrexham 2-1 Preston

Successive home wins for Wrexham and they are now in the top half of the Championship.

They are sneaking up on the top six.

Only a fifth defeat of the season for Preston and it's enough to see them slip out of the play-off spots.
