  1. 'Isak won't be able to play much more than 45 minutes' - Slotpublished at 19:27 BST 14 April

    Liverpool

Arne Slot, speaking spoke to Amazon Prime: "I have felt a lift already when we arrived. We will probably feel it more when we go out for the warm-up and even more when we go out to play. We need to be at our best and our fans to be at their best."

On Hugo Ekitike and Alexander Isak, who are starting together for just the third time: "If you include Florian Wirtz to that, it is only 88 minutes together.

"The thinking is that we need to score goals and there are goals in these players. They are two target men, two players we can play in to. As you might not know, Isak will not be able to play much more than 45 minutes - with the possibility of extra time, it makes sense for me to start him.

"We need to do a few things well, but I don't think it's that much about tactics this time. You have to match their intensity off the ball.

"We have shown against Real Madrid, Atletico Madrid and Arsenal - three quarter-finalists - that we are able to make it a game at Anfield."

Although Diego Simeone's Atletico Madrid have never won the Champions League, the Argentine manager led the Spanish side to two finals in 2014 and 2016.

But, it was arch-rivals, Real Madrid, who beat Atleti in both of those finals. Since then, Simeone has only managed to reach the semi-finals on two occasions.

Similar to Atletico, Barcelona have also struggled in the Champions League since they last lifted the trophy in 2015 with the likes of Lionel Messi, Andres Iniesta, Luis Suarez and Neymar in the squad.

The Catalan side have only reached the semi-finals twice since 2015, with Paris St-Germain and Liverpool knocking them out in the respective 2025 and 2019 campaigns.

PSG are full of certainties, the same 11, and they didn't play at the weekend. They are confident they can come here and score. More often than not, they do score.

It's certainly the sort of luxury that Liverpool and other wouldn't mind being afforded by the Premier League but it won't be happening any time soon, I wouldn't think.

PSG will be rested but the good thing for Liverpool is that they got a decent win against Fulham in-between these two legs that keeps them in the Champions League places and lifted confidence after three pretty bad defeats.

Paris St-Germain come into this game completely rested.

They have not played since defeating Liverpool 2-0 in the French capital six days ago.

That's because French football bosses allowed PSG to postpone their planned domestic game at the weekend so they could focus on the return leg.

On this day 10 years ago Jurgen Klopp's Liverpool staged an epic comeback against Borussia Dortmund in the Europa League.

After a 1-1 draw in the quarter-final first leg in Germany, the Reds trailed 4-2 on aggregate with 25 minutes left in the second leg at Anfield.

But late goals by Philippe Coutinho, Mamadou Sakho and Dejan Lovren ensured Liverpool progressed 5-4 on aggregate.

Barcelona need to achieve something that has only ever been done once before.

There have been 38 instances of teams attempting to overturn a first leg home defeat with a two-goal deficit in the Champions League knockouts. Only one was successful.

Manchester United managed it in the 2018-19 round of 16, when they recovered from a 2-0 home loss to Paris Saint-Germain with a 3-1 victory in France to progress to the quarter-finals on away goals.

Liverpool invested £450m [in the summer] and they couldn't even go toe to toe with Paris St-Germain. If Liverpool believe, they need to get this going tonight.

The big difference is Jurgen Klopp knew how to energise this crowd. They also had the players that could lift this crowd.

  11. Barca Uefa complaint dismissedpublished at 19:13 BST 14 April

Atletico Madrid v Barcelona (20:00 BST, 2-0 agg)

    Barcelona

Barca's complaint to Uefa over a "grave lack of VAR intervention" in the 2-0 loss to Atletico Madrid last week has been dismissed.

Hansi Flick's side were denied a penalty in the 54th minute of the first leg when Atletico defender Marc Pubill handled the ball in the visitors' box.

Pubill, who had received a yellow card earlier in the game, stopped the ball with his hand after goalkeeper Juan Musso had appeared to restart play with a goal-kick.

The Barca players appealed for a penalty but referee Istvan Kovacs allowed play to continue and Video Assistant Referee Christian Dingert did not intervene.

Naz99: Barcelona battered Liverpool in 2019 but Messi’s miss to make it 4-0 was crucial. Similarly, PSG battered them last week but didn’t score the goals they deserved. If Liverpool can make a fast start I can see PSG crumbling - Dembele has to be the worst Ballon d’Or winner ever and their current GK is no Donnarumma, the key player in last season’s tie. If Konate can have an error-free game I see them winning.

PSG were first to arrive at Anfield before the Liverpool bus made its way past the masses of fans that had lined the streets outside to welcome them.

Hugo Ekitike then made his way alone to the middle of the pitch, sat on a ball bag and took a moment to himself.

It's that kind of evening where the fans will all be pumped up but as the former Liverpool player Jan Molby told a few of us earlier in the press room, this Liverpool team desperately need to give something for the crowd to feed off.

Anfield has seen some special European nights over the years and Liverpool need another one tonight.
