It has been quite the ride for Macclesfield fans in recent years.

Their side travel to Slough Town this lunchtime aiming to become the first non-league club to reach the FA Cup third round in their first season in the competition proper since 1989-90 after re-establishing themselves as a phoenix club in 2020.

High-profile managers and financial issues have come and gone with the Silkmen now being led by former player John Rooney, younger brother of Wayne.

Today, Rooney will pit his wits against a Slough Town side led by player-manager Scott Davies.

The Rebels are also looking to reach the third round of the FA Cup for the first time in their history.

With the Premier League big boys potentially waiting for them in the next round, this one should be a cracker and kick-off is just around the corner!
