Sheff Utd v Wrexham (15:00 GMT)

Sheffield United boss Chris Wilder and Wrexham manager Phil Parkinson were team-mates in Southampton's academy in the mid-1980s.

And there is clearly plenty of respect between the two.

"No matter what goes on at Wrexham, and there's a lot of noise in terms of the progression of the football club and the story that goes behind everything, but they've still got to win games of football," Wilder said in his pre-match press conference.

"Phil, from his point of view, he's assembled a really good team. To win consistently is all credit to him and [assistant coach] Steve Parkin and the coaching staff in getting it right off the pitch as well."

Discussing Wilder, Parkinson said: "I know Chrissy well. We were at Southampton together as kids and he's always been a Sheffield United fan, even in those days.

"It's the third time he's been back there and he's got them going again. When he took over, they were down the bottom and he's had to reshape the team to a certain degree, but they're a good side.

"There's a lot of players there who have been involved in promotion teams, but it's about us at the weekend."

  2. Now or never for Blades?published at 14:46 GMT 21 March

Sheffield United boss Chris Wilder voiced his unhappiness that people were suggesting his side had given up on their season last week.

The Blades, winless in three, start the day down in 16th spot, a full 10 points off the play-off places with eight games to go.

If they're to make an unlikely charge for sixth then it has to start with a win over Wrexham today.

Phil Parkinson's men are in a much better place to grab a play-off place but have lost two of their past three.

  3. Can Norwich regain their fine form at Charlton?published at 14:43 GMT 21 March

    Charlton v Norwich (15:00 GMT)

Two sides in confident mood meet at The Valley, as Charlton host Norwich.

For long periods this season, relegation seemed the more likely outcome for Norwich. But Philippe Clement has turned their fortunes around. Now a play-off dream is alive.

Defeat to Southampton in the week ended a run of four straight wins in the league, but optimism is still high.

Nathan Jones' Addicks have won two and drawn one of their past three games, and that has helped them climb further away from relegation trouble. The gap currently stands at nine points.

  4. Portsmouth in need of some capital gainspublished at 14:41 GMT 21 March

    QPR v Portsmouth (15:00 GMT)

Not much to cheer about for these two at the moment.

Granted, QPR did come from behind to win at Leicester last weekend but four defeats in a row before that, including three at Loftus Road, has R's fans once again preparing for a season of mediocrity.

Portsmouth's issues need more urgent attention with a five-game winless run dropping them to within one point of the relegation zone and a 36-goal tally more potent than only relegated Sheffield Wednesday (23).

"I genuinely don't think we're a million miles away," said Portsmouth boss John Mousinho before their trip to London.

"If I did, everyone at the football club knows I'd change things quite dramatically and drastically which we have the ability to do but I don't think we need to at the moment."

The one thing Pompey cannot afford to drastically change is their divisional status...

    • Charlton Athletic v Norwich City
    • Hull City v Sheffield Wednesday
    • QPR v Portsmouth

Not a disaster with other game being a draw but opportunity missed for Boro not getting the win - against a team so low - to go four points clear in second, feel they need to find form again soon to hold onto that automatic promotion place.

    Roberto, Heron’s Gate

If Boro had a proper striker they'd probably be 10 points clear! Dominate every single game but they can't put away all their chances.

  7. 'There should have been a goal'published at 14:34 GMT 21 March

    FT: Blackburn 0-0 Middlesbrough

    Neil Maddison
Former Middlesbrough midfielder on BBC Radio Tees

At the end of the day it is about putting the ball into the back of the net, and in the first half Middlesbrough created enough chances to do that.

It is a tough thing to do to stick the ball in the back of the net, but with the chances we had there should have been a goal.

I am also disappointed for the 7,500 fans who have travelled here today, and they thought they would see a result.

It's as you were for the top four after lunchtime stalemates between Blackburn and Middlesbrough and Ipswich and Millwall.

Ipswich crucially still have that game in hand.

Derby's win over Birmingham moves them within goal difference of the top six before this afternoon's games with Blues' play-off hopes looking distant now.

Blackburn's point moves them four points clear of trouble.

  9. 'Ipswich will be a bit disappointed'published at 14:29 GMT 21 March

    FT: Ipswich 1-1 Millwall

It was interesting to see the reactions to that final whistle, Ben Johnson who had the ball just cannoned it off the advertising board- so he was angry and frustrated.

The Ipswich players immediate reaction was hands on their hips, knackered, tired and they have given everything they could.

The Millwall defenders went to ground - I'm not sure they had an awful much more to give.

That would have been the one result that Millwall would have wanted, but Ipswich will be a bit disappointed.

    Derby 1-0 Birmingham

Deserved win for Derby and a fourth in a row at home for the first time in five years.

Rhian Brewster's goal just before half time was the difference, but Sammie Szmodics, Patrick Agyemang and Ben Brereton Diaz were big threats too.

No shots on target for Birmingham, who never looked like scoring and this is a huge blow to their play-off hopes.

Middlesbrough stay second but it's a frustrating afternoon at Ewood Park.

The visitors dominated the first period with Luke Ayling and David Strelec forcing good saves from Balazs Toth.

Rovers will value the point in their relegation battle but Boro need to rediscover their scoring touch.

An excellent game which threatened to get away from Millwall in the first-half so good were Ipswich.

But the home side only had Jack Clarke's goal to show for their dominance.

Millwall's excellent start to the second 45 was rewarded with Josh Coburn's expert finish from Camiel Neghli's cross.

Christian Walton brilliantly kept out a Femi Azeez shot before Mihailo Ivanovic hit the bar with the rebound in the final three minutes as Millwall searched for a winner.

It could have gone either way but a point apiece keeps the race for second bubbling up nicely as both sides miss the chance to go second.
