Just watching that pass by Ousmane Diomande again on a replay and it really is something special - outside of the boot, whipped with pace and precision for Maxi Araujo to run on to. Superb ball.

A really good start by Bayern Munich, who are playing like the home side at the moment and should be ahead.

A lot of it has been from set-pieces but Bayern are incredibly dangerous.

That pass from Diomande to open up the Arsenal backline was excellent. Maxi Araujo thumps a shot against the bar.

A big warning for the Gunners and that chance has lifted the crowd.

What a pass with the outside of the right boot.

The weight was absolutely perfect. Then it rattles off the crossbar.

    Should be 1-0 to Bayern!

A lovely ball from Joshua Kimmich and it's dinked back across goal by Harry Kane but Dayot Upamecano can't find the net from three yards.

Goodness me. Needed Kane on the end of it.

  7. GREAT SAVE!published at 20:10 BST 7 April

    Sporting 0-0 Arsenal

    Great save by David Raya!

Ousmane Diomande plays a brilliant ball over the defence and Maxi Araújo bends his run to beat the offside trap. He is through on goal but his driven effort is tipped onto the bar by Raya.

    Real Madrid 0-0 Bayern Munich

A good defensive header from Dean Huijsen prevents the corner from finding the net but it's behind for another.

Andrii Lunin can only tip the next one over the bar and that's a third corner in a row.

This time it pings around in the box and Dayot Upamecano goes for the acrobatic effort but it doesn't come off.

Sporting are a good footballing team. There's good movement off the ball and slick passing from them.

Whenever Arsenal have the ball Sporting appear happy to sit off them. Neither side are showing much desire to press early and try and force mistakes.

Bayern Munich win a free kick on the edge of the area. Michael Olise lines it up and he strikes it with some power and pace and it takes a deflection off the Real Madrid wall and behind for a corner.

Sporting's passing is crisp in these early stages and they work the ball down the left before Maxi Araújo's touch into the area is blocked by Ben White.

This is a great opportunity for Arsenal to assert themselves again on the European stage. They need to have some swagger.

Tonight's a night to show they're the best team in Europe. They have to get back into that mindset of winning.

What an atmosphere inside the Bernabeu. It is absolutely rocking and this should be a cracker.

A good start for the visitors as Konrad Laimer gets an opportunity on the outside of the area but fires over the bar.

Hjulmand and Quenda being out for Sporting tonight really hampers them. Goncalves on the left wing is their best chance of a positive result, I’m hoping they can still get the job done.

England head coach Thomas Tuchel is at The Bernabeu this evening for the Champions League quarter-final first leg between Real Madrid and Bayern Munich.

It's a chance for Trent Alexander-Arnold to remind Tuchel what he can offer after he is seemingly the forgotten man of England's World Cup plans.

Tuchel knows all about Harry Kane - and he will hope to see Jude Bellingham in action, although he is on the bench for Real Madrid.

Everyone has always kept their best players away from internationals, way back to Sir Alex. CL and Prem are always the priorities.

Everyone going on about the Arsenal players supposedly suddenly fit again after the international window? Is that why they all missed the EFL final and the FA Cup QF too?

Arsenal players recovering, no different from Fergusons time at Man Utd, how many Wales games did Giggs miss due to injury?
