    Cardiff 0-0 Wimbledon

Cardiff will start as favourites against Wimbledon tonight, as the League One leaders have done almost every time they’ve taken to the field this season.

However, the Bluebirds will know not to take their opponents lightly – not after losing 5-1 here against them in the EFL Trophy in December.

Granted, that was a much-changed Cardiff side, but there was a smattering of first-team players. Two of the starters are in tonight’s line-up, with another couple on the bench.

Aron Sasu, who scored four goals in Wimbledon’s EFL Trophy win here, is not involved due to injury.

Cardiff are unbeaten in 11 games, and you’d expect Brian Barry-Murphy’s young side to continue their fine form at the top of the table.

  5. Reading host Bolton with both teams on the chasepublished at 19:46 GMT 17 February

Reading host Bolton Wanderers in a big game for both clubs in one of two slightly later kick-offs, as the visitors look to keep on the coat tails of the automatic promotion places, while the Royals are out to maintain their own play-off push.

Bolton are on a fine run of form which has seen them win five of their past seven games and give themselves a chance of sealing a return to the Championship for the first time since 2018-19.

Reading have lost just one in six themselves and sit three points off the play-offs with one game in hand over sixth-placed Huddersfield.

The Royals have lost one of their past seven home games against the Trotters and August's reverse fixture at the Toughsheet Community Stadium ended in a draw.

Time to take a look at what else is on the agenda in League Two tonight...

Swindon will want to get back to winning ways after Saturday's shock 3-1 defeat at Shrewsbury. That ended a run of four straight wins for Ian Holloway's side who sit in third, a point behind second-placed Cambridge and five behind leaders Bromley. They travel to a Barnet side who have not tasted defeat in their past six league games (W3, D3) and are looking to complete their first ever league double over the Robins following their 2-0 win in August.

Fifth-placed MK Dons are also a side in form after their undefeated run of seven games (W5 D2). Paul Warne's side are a point adrift the automatic promotion spots and face a struggling Crawley side who sit just outside the danger zone and have lost their past three league games.

Salford return to league matters after their FA Cup defeat at Manchester City. The Ammies will hope that they can get their play-off hopes back on track after they suffered a 1-0 defeat at Accrington last time out in League Two, when host bottom club Newport.

Fellow play-off rivals Crewe and Chesterfield host Fleetwood and Gillingham respectively. With Grimsby and Walsall facing each other tomorrow, the Railwaymen and the Spireites have the chance to distance themselves from the chasing pack.

And at the foot of the table, second from bottom Harrogate make the trip to face a Barrow side who ended a six-match losing run to move five points clear of the League Two relegation zone after a 1-0 win over Colchester in their last outing.

  8. Cambridge aiming for hat-trick of winspublished at 19:42 GMT 17 February

Cambridge United start the night as Bromley's nearest challengers at the top of the table.

They're four points back but below them it's all very tight with Swindon and Notts County just a point behind and Milton Keynes a point further back in fifth.

Their recent form is superb, with eight wins from their last nine games.

Saturday's 3-1 over Bristol Rovers was the latest of them and they are going for a hat-trick of victories this evening.

Colchester make the trip around the A14 tonight, five points off the top seven.

But three defeats from their last four certainly isn't play-off form and they will hope to bounce back from a late 1-0 defeat to Barrow at the weekend.

  9. Leaders Bromley to march on?published at 19:40 GMT 17 February

    Bromley v Cheltenham (19:45 GMT)

League Two leaders Bromley are big favourites to take another stride towards promotion this evening against lowly Cheltenham.

Bromley were held to a 1-1 draw by Notts County on Saturday but have not been beaten since the end of November.

They start the night four points clear at the top of the table.

For Cheltenham, in 18th, nine points clear of the drop zone is a comfortable cushion but their recent form is dreadful.

Saturday's 0-0 draw at Barnet stopped a rot of four successive defeats.

Holding leaders Bromley to a 1-1 draw at the weekend served further notice of Notts County's promotion challenge.

They begin the evening fourth, five points off the top, in the middle of four teams separated by just two points.

Martin Paterson's side have been flying, with six successive victories before Saturday's point.

They will be eyeing up another three points tonight at Shrewsbury, who languish in 19th, but who have won their past two games.

The latest of those was an eye-catching 3-1 win over promotion-chasing Swindon.

Let's take a look at what else is going on this evening in League One...

Second-placed Lincoln, who missed the chance to close the gap on leaders Cardiff after their 1-1 draw against Bolton on Saturday, could get that chance again as they welcome Northampton. The Imps could extend their unbeaten league run to fifteen.

Huddersfield boss Liam Manning tasted defeat in the league for the first time after his side lost 1-0 at Stevenage last time out. Despite that defeat, the Terriers remain in the play-off places and travel to Doncaster Rovers.

Stevenage will be looking to build on that win with Alex Revell's side sitting five points adrift the play-off positions. They welcome bottom of the table Port Vale to the Lamex Stadium.

And we'll have a basement battle as Burton welcome Rotherham with both sides sitting in the drop zone. The Brewers, who are a point from safety in 21st, have won just one of their past nine league games (D2 L6), while the Millers, who are second from bottom, have won two of their past three, having been winless in 11 before tonight's clash. With Wigan not playing until tomorrow, both sides will want to take whatever advantage they can in the scrap to stay in the league.

  12. Fifth v fourth as Bantams face Hatterspublished at 19:34 GMT 17 February

    Bradford v Stockport (19:45 GMT)

Two sides separated by just one point meet at Valley Parade - it's fifth v fourth in a big game in the League One play-off race.

Bradford appear to be settling down after a wobble of three straight defeats, with wins at home to Doncaster and Peterborough either side of a loss against Luton at Kenilworth Road.

Stockport are unbeaten in six games in League One and can strengthen their grip on a play-off spot for the second year in a row with a win tonight.

Both sides have two games in hand over third-placed Bolton and sixth-placed Huddersfield.

Graham Alexander's side came out on top when the two sides met at Edgeley Park in August and are unbeaten in their past four meetings (won one, drawn three).

  13. High-flying Bluebirds host rejuvenated Womblespublished at 19:32 GMT 17 February

Cardiff v AFC Wimbledon (19:45 GMT)

Cardiff could extend their lead at the top of League One to seven points with a win over AFC Wimbledon tonight.

The Bluebirds are flying high in their quest for an immediate return to the Championship but take on a rejuvenated Wombles side in the Welsh capital.

Johnnie Jackson's Dons are unbeaten in three League One matches, having won just one of their previous 14 dating back to October.

That disastrous run of form saw the Londoners plummet from fourth to 17th in the table, but consecutive wins over Port Vale and Reading have offered green shoots of a late-season turnaround, as they sit 10 points off the play-offs with two games in hand on sixth-placed Huddersfield.

Brian Barry-Murphy's Cardiff team are yet to taste defeat in 2026.

    League Two

Bromley's four-point advantage at the top means they will stay top tonight whatever happens but they will look to extend that gap if possible with Cambridge putting the pressure on with their good form.

Swindon, Notts County and MK Dons lead the chasing pack and are not too far behind as the race to finish in the top three heats up.

Chesterfield, Walsall and Grimsby meanwhile are among those hoping for a slip up from those above them as they seek to enter the play-off spots.

Bottom side Newport are in desperate need of a win to stop the gap to safety widening further and second bottom Harrogate are in a similar situation, just one point ahead of the Welsh side in the drop zone.

    League One

And a quick reminder of how things are looking in the respective tables before a ball is kicked tonight.

Cardiff City are sitting pretty at the top of the pile with a 10-point cushion over third-placed Bolton Wanderers going into tonight's games.

The Bluebirds and second-placed Lincoln City both have a game in hand over the Trotters who face a tough trip to Berkshire to face Reading, who are just three points off the play-off places.

Seven teams from Northampton Town in 17th down to second-from-bottom Rotherham United are separated by just three points, with the Millers taking on Burton Albion in a battle between two sides who start the day in the relegation zone.
