    Manchester United 0-2 Manchester City

Bright start from Manchester United as Lea Schuller fizzes a cross into the box that only just misses the advances of strike partner Melvine Malard.

The home fans will be hoping that they see more of that positive intent in this second half.

Manchester United are very narrow defensively and their wide players actually aren't helping them at the minute.

So when they have the overload in those areas, they aren't defending. It has been really passive from them, maybe the midweek game is playing a part in this.

    Manchester City

Manchester City boss Andree Jeglertz just told BBC Sport touchline reporter Jo Currie that he was 'satisfied' with the first half but his players 'want more'. Ruthless.

    Steph Houghton
Former England captain on BBC One

I expected a lot more from Manchester United today.

I know they've had a tough week because of the Champions League, but this is a derby. We need tackles and we need energy.

Manchester City have been really dominant in terms of their quality and performance. Manchester United just haven't found any answers to it so far.

In conceding those two headed Vivianne Miedema' goals in the first half, Manchester United (8) overtook Aston Villa (7) as the team to have conceded the most headed goals in this season's Women's Super League.

In fact their tally would have stretched to nine headers conceded had Rebecca Knaak's goal not been ruled out.

That third goal being ruled out is a real lifeline for Manchester United. Without that decision, the game would've been scratched off already.

They just haven't been in this derby at all. Manchester City have been good, there is no doubt about it, but Manchester United need their players to be brave in this second half.

In a derby at Old Trafford, you need to get the ball and play.

Man City definitely feeling the benefit of no midweek football. Man Utd need to try and get the ball in behind the full-backs, if they are to play long. Definitely a foul for the third goal to be ruled out, City can't have any complaints.

    Paul, Newmarket

Not sure there was much in it myself, Paul, but alas football is a game of opinions.

Fridolina Rolfo was warming up on her own down the touchline towards the end of the first half. Manchester United need to change something so it looks like she could be Marc Skinner's card. Manchester City don't need to change a thing!

  11. HALF-TIMEpublished at 14:16 GMT 28 March

    Manchester United 0-2 Manchester City

The whistle blows on an exhilarating first half showing from league leaders Manchester City, who can count themselves a little unlucky not to be more than two goals ahead at the break.

Big team talk ahead for Manchester United boss Marc Skinner.

Man City had been rather stodgy away from home recently, but that has been blown away today. They have been transformed by their returning Japanese players, Fujino and Hasegawa. They simply don't give the ball away.

No coincidence that Kerstin Casparij is the top assister so far in the WSL this season.

The combination of her and Aoba Fujino on the far side have had the Manchester United defence on strings.

Whether it's Kerstin Casparij on the right or Alex Greenwood on the left, they are both in acres of space.

They like to really push up high and be brave early, which really overloads the area at full-back for Manchester United.

  15. CLOSE!published at 14:14 GMT 28 March

    Manchester United 0-2 Manchester City

Lauren Hemp latches onto a loose ball in the final third, jinking left and right to make space for a cross, which she rolls expertly through the six yard box.

The only thing missing for City was the finish, which Khadija Shaw was inches away from providing on the slide.

Without Zigiotti Olme and Toone, our midfield looks so weak. We need to sign a top midfielder in the summer. In this match, we need to bring on Rolfo for Awujo or Naalsund and then put Park through the middle.

    Kit, Devon

It was always going to be a long afternoon after all the big matches this squad has played, playing Bayern mid-week, and the injuries. We're not good enough to get close to City after a rest. They need to try to keep it respectable.

Jess Park loses the ball just beyond the centre circle and Manchester City break.

It's down that right hand side again, through Khadija Shaw this time, and it eventually takes a combination of Hanna Lundkvist and Millie Turner to stop her.

This first half has flown by hasn't it? Well, maybe not for those of a Manchester United persuasion.

35 minutes or so in and their side have had just one touch in the Manchester City box. That simply has to change, and fast.
