  2. Can Liverpool get first away win of season?published at 11:47 GMT 28 March

    Everton v Liverpool (12:00 GMT)

Everton’s Scott Phelan has won three of his first four Women’s Super League matches (lost one) and could become the first Toffees manager to win four of their opening five WSL games in charge of the Toffees.

Liverpool are winless across their nine away games in the WSL this season (drawn two, lost seven), with only four sides previously failing to win each of their opening 10 matches on the road in a single campaign in the competition (Bristol City in 2020-21, Reading in 2022-23, Liverpool in 2022-23 and Leicester City in 2024-25 – all failed to win all 11).

Man City have missed playing in Europe while watching their rivals compete in the Champions League quarter-finals this week, neighbours United narrowly lost 3-2 to Bayern Munich in the first leg of their tie.

"We have really missed those nights," said Jeglertz. "United have had the possibility to play these high intensity games during the week when we haven't.

"We train a lot but we don't get those games like they do. That is also building something for them and they know about the speed they will face."

Jeglertz added that there are both "positive and negative" aspects to league preparations when playing or not playing in Europe.

He added: "We can't prepare in the same way so there are both positive and negative parts in not playing these games.

"Physically, there is definitely an advantage for us. But mentally, and in preparation, I would say it's the same."

Katja Snoeijs realised something was wrong when she felt "stabbing" pains and was forced off at half-time against West Ham last season.

"The cramps around my womb and my belly were just horrible. Even the back pain, it's just hard standing up straight, let alone sprinting or running," she said.

"It was a really emotional moment. It's really hard as a football player to come off a pitch unless like you have a broken leg or something."

Having to be substituted because of the pain was a turning point for the Everton forward, and the start of her journey towards an endometriosis diagnosis.

Endometriosis is a chronic, often painful, condition that occurs when cells similar to the lining of the womb grow elsewhere in the body.

It frequently leads to heavy, painful menstrual periods that can disrupt everyday life.

It is common, affecting one in 10 women in the UK, but it takes an average of eight years and 10 months, external, external to properly diagnose.

  5. 'We are in a better place'published at 11:37 GMT 28 March

    Liverpool

Four points from their last two matches have moved Liverpool up to 10th ahead of their derby trip to Everton.

“It’s a good game for us,” Reds boss Gareth Taylor said at a news conference. “We feel like we are in a better place and I’m sure Everton will feel that as well. We really want to finish the season on a high.

"The games this season have been entertaining. We've played them once in the WSL and once in the FA Cup. We had a good outcome in the FA Cup so of course, we are looking to try to do that again.

"We understand the challenge that's in front of us. We're in similar form to them and it's interesting what a few wins can do to push you up the league. It should be an entertaining game," Taylor said.

When asked about Liverpool's record against Everton, Taylor explained:

"People will always talk about previous form from years ago so until we put that right in the league, then it will still be that we have lost more. It happens.

"Everyone involved in those games wants the outcome to be that we're smiling. We failed to do that in the last [WSL] game. We know it will be tough but we have an opportunity."

Manchester United's task in this afternoon's derby has been made even harder with the fixture sandwiched between both legs of their Champions League quarter-final tie with Bayern Munich.

"You talk about big games, but we've played them all season. We are entrenched in it and my team will give absolutely everything," said boss Marc Skinner.

The Red devils twice came from behind but were ultimately beaten 3-2 in a gruelling encounter at Old Trafford on Wednesday night.

A win today would be doubly sweet, it would open up a gap between themselves and third-placed Chelsea, while also delaying their neighbours title charge.

Skinner added: "That's the plan, right? That's the aim. The aim is if we can beat City, you cut the gap as well. Nobody is out of it.

"We're going to be judged on how far we go. We're creating history every single day. We look at the big markers. This team is growing massively."

  8. How it standspublished at 11:28 GMT 28 March

Can Manchester United open up the title race today with a win over rivals and league leaders Manchester City?

United's very slim title hopes will be over if they lose today.

Arsenal will move into a Champions League qualifying place if they beat Tottenham, while Liverpool will be looking to give themselves some breathing space between them and bottom placed Leicester.
