Jess Park and Melvine Malard exchange passes as they manouvre around the Manchester City box, but teenager Jess Anderson can't get purchase on the finish and it rolls harmlessly into the arms of Ayaka Yamashita.

That's a shock for us all!

Look at how many players Manchester City had in the box there, it was five against four in the first instance.

Everybody was just expecting the net to burst from Bunny Shaw's shot, but it didn't.

Khadija Shaw will be kicking herself if she leaves Old Trafford without a goal today.

She had the freedom of the 18 yard box there after another incisive attacking City move, but she dragged her shot wide of the near post.

This City squad and manager are primed for the title. City are a better team than United, without doubt, but their focus on domestic football has certainly been an advantage this season. This women's squad is yet to cope with Champions League and a strong Women's Super League.

    Dom, Manchester

Will be interesting to see how they fare next season with a fourth competition in the calendar, that's for sure.

"We are top of the league," is being chanted on repeat very loudly by the Manchester City fans to our right. Early party at Old Trafford.

I do think it has been an improved second half from the hosts but given Manchester City were as ruthless as they were dominant in the first half, they were able to take their foot off the gas from quite early on in this second half, particularly after third goal.

We looked deflated in the first half but we have come back out and started to show who we are. Unfortunately, I don't think it will be enough.

This Manchester United performance is a real shame.

This game was two teams at the top of the league and the top of their game going head-to-head at a magnificent ground, but they have looked out of energy and out of ideas.

Most upsettingly for their fans, they have looked out of belief.

Andree Jeglertz turns to his bench again to bring on Mary Fowler for the closing stages as she looks to get back up to speed after the Asian Cup and that previous long term ACL injury.

Lauren Hemp claps the away end as she strolls to the dugout.

I know we put a lot of emphasis on this match with it being a derby, but Manchester United have still got plenty to play for.

They are still second in the table, but I'm sure Arsenal would've caught wind of what's happening here ahead of their derby later today.

Corner after corner from Manchester City into the box as Manchester United battle to clear their lines.

They do eventually break free through some tricky footwork from Melvine Malard but Hannah Lundkvist's lump up field gifts the ball back.

That's sneaky from Manchester United captain Maya le Tissier.

After being outmuscled in a one to one duel by City forward Khadija Shaw she just shuffled back onto the field to stop the visitors launching a quick attack, then took a while to re-tie her laces.

    It's certainly a much-improved second-half performance from Manchester United.

They have been much tighter, their press has been much better, there has been much more communication, and the picking up of wide players on the overlap has been much sharper.

Convincing defeats to your local rivals in both derbies in a season is bound to raise questions of a manager, but I think there needs to be a bit of grace afforded to Marc Skinner.

League cup final, the club's first-ever, Champions League quarter-finals and second in the league come end of March - thik the fans would have taken that back in September.

Considering the injuries this Manchester United squad are dealing with, it's not bad going at all.

We need a new coach and we need Skinner gone. Our players look deflated but the board won't give us any money because they spend it all on the men's team. Make it make sense.

Man Utd will change manager either this summer or next. I just hope the next one plays sharp passing and attacking football, and can muster tactics to deservedly beat the top teams.

Two more changes for Manchester United as they look to restore a bit of pride in what remains of this derby.

It's been another disappointing afternoon for Jess Park.

She's excelled in the Manchester United midfield since crossing the red-blue divide in the summer, but she's not been able to sparkle in either fixture against her former side.

Mind you she did just swing a dangerous cross into the middle for Melvine Malard to head at goal.

Scheduling both Manchester derbies for Saturdays, after one team had played in the Champions League on the Wednesday, has made both a one-sided boring watch. You want both teams to be able to go full-out in a derby, not just the one with the better fixture list.

    Freddie, Manchester

In fairness Freddie, that's just the way it is at the top level if you're fighting on multiple fronts.

Vivianne Miedema doesn't get the warmest of farewells from the home crowd, but she can take that as a compliment to be honest.

She is a legend of the game even though she is still at the very top of the game.
