Derby day continues on Saturday evening when Arsenal host north London rivals Tottenham.

The Gunners are currently fourth – 14 points behind Manchester City but with three games in hand – and have a spring in their step after a 3-1 win over Chelsea in the first leg of their Champions League quarter-final.

“We love to be in this rhythm of playing games. It’s a rhythm that we like, the short turnarounds,” said boss Renee Slegers.

“We get to work towards the next game. We have a big squad. We have players ready to go, so we love to be in this rhythm.”

Striker Stina Blackstenius, who scored the first goal against Chelsea, will make her 150th appearance for the Gunners if she comes off the bench.

FT: Manchester United 0-3 Manchester City

So here's how today's two results have impacted things table wise.

Manchester City's huge win at Old Trafford takes them another step closer to a first title in ten years.

Manchester United remain second despite that crushing home defeat but have left the door open to Arsenal and Chelsea in the race for the Champions League places.

Liverpool's Merseyside derby win against Everton at Goodison means that they are now eight points clear of the relegation zone and have likely secured their top flight status for another year.

Manchester City wanted to unsettle Manchester United from the outset. They probably focused on the fact their opponents had played a lot of games, but we have seen them play with that intensity for most of this season.

It was all about unsettling their backline, and they did that right from the outset. They created a few chances from set pieces and that rewarded them with two early goals.

Skinner deserves no real grace. He has got a team full of serial winners and he has managed to pull mediocrity from them. I fundamentally do not understand the fans who think he should stay around because he doesn't have the skills to take United to the victory the name requires.

    Alex, Manchester

Time for Skinner to bow out. He has clearly reached his level and run out of ideas.

    Fara Williams

Kerstin Casparij has been the most consistent full-back in the league across the entire season.

She has that understanding of when she needs to hold her shape and when she can work her oppositional wide player. I felt she did that really well today.

It is very rare that Manchester City get done on that right-hand side these days, and that's credit to her and the work she's done.

  10. 'Brilliant throughout the 90 minutes'published at 15:48 GMT 28 March

FT: Manchester United 0-3 Manchester City

    Manchester City

Manchester City captain Alex Greenwood, speaking to BBC One, said: "I thought we controlled the game from the first minute. It was an important conversation we had before the game and I thought we were brilliant throughout the only 90 minutes.

"We play on the front foot and it was important we press and that we're willing to do that. In the second half in past games we have not started well but I thought we managed to do that well.

"The mentality has been huge. Andree has come in and done a great job. Everyone feels very comfortable to be themselves, it's the safest dressing room and everyone feels comfortable to have their say. Andree is pretty calm. He just said 'brilliant performance and we executed the game plan perfectly'. We have got quite a long time until our next match in the cup and then it's the international break so it's important we rest.

"We keep our feet on the ground and focus on the next one. Andree is a really calm guy but at the same time he is really intense. He allows you to be yourselves and his door is always open and he really understands the human level and that's really important, especially with women.

"The standards he sets, he just demands every day. My relationship as captain to him has been absolutely brilliant."

  11. 'Miedema has that natural instinct'published at 15:45 GMT 28 March

    Steph Houghton

It has been so interesting to see Bunny Shaw and Vivianne Miedema play together this season.

Miedema is obviously a natural number nine but she has been playing as a number 10 this season, and yet she still has that natural instinct to get in the box, be there and make those movements we know she's done for so long in the Women's Super League.

It marks her super hard to mark.

  12. 'Everybody put in a massive shift'published at 15:43 GMT 28 March

Manchester City goalscorer Kerstin Casparij speaking to BBC One: "The Manchester derby is never easy, unfortunately, but I think we started the game off so well. You could really see the desire from the whole team to get this one over the line. We knew this was a really important game for the title race as well, so you could see everybody put in a massive shift. I'm really proud of the whole team.

"I've waited a long time to score in a Manchester derby. It's special, especially in front of such a massive crowd. It was so nice to score in front of our support, it is such a great feeling. I think I'm going to sleep well tonight.

"It is nice knowing that Manchester United are a team we're battling with for the title, so this was a six-point game for us. We try to take it week-by-week but this is such a great result, so I'm very pleased.

"I haven't got my [social media] caption ready yet. I like to not jinx things for these games. I feel I've got a big task to come up with a really good one."

It's been a remarkable season in front of goal for Manchester City. Their tally in the WSL now stands at 55 goals from 19 games.

Even more remarkable is that top scorer Khadija Shaw didn't get one of their three netted at Old Trafford today.

Nope, today it was Vivianne Miedema's day to take the headlines with two superb headers.

It was another standout display from Kerstin Casparij today in what has been a remarkable season for the Manchester City full-back.

She walks away with a goal, an assist and the Player of the Match award for her efforts.

  16. 'A professional performance'published at 15:33 GMT 28 March

FT: Manchester United 0-3 Manchester City

    Fara Williams
Former England midfielder on BBC One

Manchester City absolutely laid down another marker.

They are only a couple of games away now from securing the title, which I would imagine would've been the focus at the beginning of the season. They will have been focusing on taking the title after such a long time of not having it.

It was a professional performance. They would've known that Manchester United might come in a little bit fatigued.

  17. 'Man City were on it today'published at 15:29 GMT 28 March

FT: Manchester United 0-3 Manchester City

    Nia Jones
Former Wales international on BBC One

A dominant display from Manchester City. They looked fresher in mind and fresher in body than the Red Devils. They were on it today, with and without the ball.

It is disappointment for Manchester United, who were coming in off the back of a very busy week and with a very depleted squad. It is a real shame for them to maybe lose a bit of momentum in the race for Champions League football.

It has been the stuff of nightmares for them on derby day.

The final whistle blows about thirty seconds later to confirm what we have known for a long time this afternoon: Manchester is staying blue.

Manchester United were unable to muster a reply to Vivianne Miedema's double and Kerstin Casaparij's tap in for the league leaders.

That's just a second-ever WSL double over their local rivals for the Blues, and it takes them one huge step closer to their first title in a decade.

Khadija Shaw looks certain to score as she races towards the Manchester United goal with just keeper Phallon Tullis-Joyce to beat but before she can pull the trigger she's pulled down by a desperate grab from Gabby George.

    Surely that's a spot kick?
