  3. 'We need to hit the ground running'published at 18:48 GMT 7 January

    Fulham v Chelsea (19:30 GMT)

    Chelsea

New Chelsea head coach Liam Rosenior, speaking to Sky Sports: "Super excited. I can't wait. As a young man I have always wanted to be a coach, I've talked about it a lot. For this opportunity to come up at this stage of my career is great but my biggest focus is not about being Chelsea manager, it's about being a winning Chelsea manager, and that is the message that I gave the players yesterday when I was fortunate enough to meet them for the first time. We need to hit the ground running for the rest of the season."

On why he is not taking charge v Fulham tonight: "Travel, but mainly the fact that Calum [McFarlane] did such an incredible job against Manchester City. I thought the performance of the players, certainly in the second half, the energy, the intensity, the quality that they played with. Not just Calum but Harry as well, they have supported the lads in a really difficult moment in a really good way.

"I flew in from Strasbourg yesterday morning, so it is a difficult time frame for me to get in the tactical work I want to get into to get the lads to give them the best possible chance to win. I've got full faith in Calum and the lads to win tonight."

Three games is hardly a barren run for a striker, but it is when Erling Haaland is concerned.

The Norway goal machine has netted a sensational 38 goals in just 31 games for club and country this season, but comes into this one on the back of a sticky patch.

Haaland has failed to score against Nottingham Forest, Sunderland and Chelsea - with City dropping four points during that run.

The striker could end the night without scoring in four straight games...for the first time in his career.

Can Newcastle do what Liverpool, Manchester United and Chelsea have all failed to do in recent weeks and defeat Leeds?

They will have to be at their best to do so against a side who travel to St James' with real belief following a seven-game unbeaten run.

Leeds have come away from Anfield, the Stadium of Light and the Gtech Community Stadium with a well-earned point on each occasion in recent weeks.

No wonder, then, manager Daniel Farke vowed “we won’t make it easy” for Newcastle.
