Not looking forward to the Palace game. We haven’t even looked capable of winning recently and the losses don’t look as though they’ll be stopping anytime soon.

    Everton v Wolves (19:30 GMT)

    Phil McNulty
    BBC Sport chief football writer

There has been lots of excitement and expectation around Harrison Armstrong at Everton. He has distinguished himself on loan at Preston North End and now gets his first Everton start after returning to the club at the start of this month.

Everton manager David Moyes is keen to give the 18-year-old game time, but there is still the possibility he may return to Deepdale before the end of the month.

For now, however, Moyes wants to see what he can bring to Everton.

  4. 'I can't wait to get going'published at 19:19 GMT 7 January

    Fulham v Chelsea (19:30 GMT)

    Chelsea

More from new Chelsea head coach Liam Rosenior, speaking to Sky Sports: "I can't wait [to work with the players]. I was fortunate enough to watch training yesterday and even in the work Callum did with them you can see the quality of the players. There are outstanding players throughout the squad. We are going to need a big squad because we have a lot of games in the coming months and the players will get a chance to show their quality. My first official day training the team will be tomorrow morning and I can't wait to get going.

"I think Enzo did a really good job with the team tactically. My game is not dissimilar but obviously there are some different elements tactically in the way that I play that I want to put my stamp on. People talk about tactics, systems and philosophies but I want to se a good energy, I want to see a team that is hard to beat, that runs for each other, that fights. Intensity, spirit, energy and commitment, those things can take you a long way as well as the quality that we have."

There could be joy for Brighton in that Man City defence, especially with someone there who's never played Premier League football.

New Chelsea manager Liam Rosenior is certainly the centre of attention at Craven Cottage.

The 41-year-old came on the team bus, met some familiar faces at his old club and there remains a lot of warmth for him as a former Fulham player for four years.

His father Leroy also played for the Cottagers.

Rosenior then did an interview with Sky Sports and went out onto the pitch with the team.

Reminder: Interim manager Calum McFarlane will lead the team on the touchline today.

  9. 'Still shocked and surprised'published at 19:12 GMT 7 January

Burnley v Man Utd (20:15 GMT)

    Peter Schmeichel
Former Manchester United goalkeeper on BBC Radio 5 Live

[Having players back from injury] is just about the only thing that is good at the moment for Manchester United. It's not been a great couple of days. I'm still a little bit shocked and surprised to be honest at how this situation has all been handled and out of nothing really it's been sprung on us.

I can't make sense of the timing. I'm really confused about it.

  10. 'Fletcher knows what to fix in short-term'published at 19:11 GMT 7 January

Burnley v Man Utd (20:15 GMT)

    Rene Meulensteen
Former Manchester United coach on BBC Radio 5 Live

I don't think now that it needs much to fix it, I really don't think it does. You just need to put the players in the system that the players can play to their strengths, and this could happen very, very, very quickly.

The advantage of Darren Fletcher taking over as interim is two or three-fold. He knows the club. He's been under a very successful coach so he knows what one looks like and he's also been in a culture now which is not successful, so he knows what's wrong, what to fix in the short term.

Manchester United interim manager Darren Fletcher's twin sons are both currently midfielders at the club.

The 19-year-old academy duo featured as part of Ruben Amorim's final few matches in charge of United prior to his dismissal as head coach on Monday.

Former United midfielder and under-18s head coach Darren was promoted to interim head coach in Amorim's place and will take charge of United's trip to Burnley on Wednesday.

While Tyler has made the bench in each of United's last three games, Jack was used by Amorim in United's last three matches of 2025 as a substitute.

Should either of the Fletcher twins play under father Darren while he is in interim charge of United, they would join an exclusive club of sons to have played under the management of their fathers in the Premier League.

I think this is Liam's dream. All his life is to manage at the very highest level and Chelsea is one of the biggest jobs you'll get in the Premier League and maybe world football.

He's ready. He's managed 153 games. He's done his apprenticeship and he's ready to go. He managed a young Strasbourg team as well, got them into European competitions and he'll be buzzing.

Chelsea have spent well, he's worked with young players at Strasbourg before and he'll be eager to get in this position.

  19. Le Bris eager to improve points tallypublished at 18:56 GMT 7 January

    Brentford v Sunderland (19:30 GMT)

Regis le BrisImage source, Getty Images

After four consecutive draws Regis le Bris is hoping Sunderland can turn "consistency" into more points.

The Black Cats are unbeaten in five but their most recent victory was in the Wear-Tyne derby in mid December.

"Probably we want to turn this consistency into more wins because I know we have this ambition within the squad, but so far it's good.

"I think it's a strong platform to evolve and to improve. We would like to win more games but this league is so demanding that sometimes one point is good, it's really good. From this consistency, this character, this ability to manage different scenarios, I think we have the ability to improve different areas. It's still a learning process, we don't have many training sessions to do that. Games are the training sessions and you want to get better."

Sunderland have achieved their last four results without six players who are away on Africa Cup of Nations duty and will still be without their services against Brentford on Wednesday, while a late call will be made on striker Wilson Isidor, who did not make the squad against Tottenham on Sunday.

  20. 'I never thought it would end up with me stood here'published at 18:54 GMT 7 January

    Fulham v Chelsea (19:30 GMT)

    Chelsea

More from new Chelsea head coach Liam Rosenior, speaking to Sky Sports about his approach: "Every manager has an idea of the way that they want to play. That's what makes you a coach. For me I have an idea of the way that I want to play, it has to suit the players. I think that is one of the reasons I have been brought to the club, it suits the players perfectly, but you have to be able to adapt in terms of tactics, systems, formations. The most important thing for me is intensity, running, spirit and quality, and you can do that in many different ways in football.

"The lads when I was working in Strasbourg were very supportive of me. We are very aligned in terms of recruitment, style of play. That is why I was brought into the project to begin with. To be honest I never thought it would end up with me stood here in January as Chelsea manager but in life you never know what's going to happen.

"We are very, very close and we are clear on what we want, which is success. People speak about managers too much. It's about the infrastructure, the board. We want this club to be successful for years to come."
