Wrexham just a point off the play-offs as it stands.

Surely they can't achieve a fourth straight promotion?

Worries increasing for Blackburn at the other end, meanwhile...

Results have become irrelevant. The most important thing for the betterment of Blackburn Rovers is the removal of these owners and the COO. It's time the entire fanbase gets behind this. 15 years of embarrassment. Enough is enough. The only way for Rovers is down under these abysmal owners. They have ruined a top 10 Premier League club. Nothing will ever change for the better until new owners and a new board are in place.

Not the best first half I've seen from Blackburn.

They're very disjointed, the midfield are all over the place. The front two aren't getting any service whatsoever. The defenders are too slow on the ball and they're allowing Wrexham to press them.

Wrexham look like they want it a bit more. Valerien Ismael has to go in there sounding alarm bells because that was a very poor first half.

  4. Boos from home fans at half-timepublished at 13:23 GMT 1 January

What a half from Wrexham, but Blackburn have been way off it.

The final stages of the opening half turned rather feisty too.

You can fully understand the boos from the Blackburn fans as the half time whistle was blown there.

  5. HALF-TIMEpublished at 13:20 GMT 1 January

    Blackburn 0-2 Wrexham

No more than the visitors have deserved as goals from Sam Smith and the superb Ollie Rathbone put Wrexham two-up at the break.

Ryan Hedges looks unsteady on his feet here. He'll make it to the break, but will he come out for the second half?

It's the last thing Rovers need for their lengthy injury list.

Lewis Miller then gets a talking to for a lusty challenge which could have earned a third Blackburn yellow.

We're into three minutes of stoppage time.

  8. YELLOW CARDpublished at 13:17 GMT 1 January

    Blackburn 0-2 Wrexham

Sam Smith goes into the box as he has a chop at Sean McLoughlin right in the corner flag. Daft booking that.

  9. 'Dangerous challenge'published at 13:16 GMT 1 January

    Andy Bayes

If he would have given something, I think Rathbone would have been in trouble.

The Rovers players can't believe it. I cannot believe the referee doesn't think that's a foul.

I'm not suggesting it should be a red card but that was a dangerous challenge.

Boos from the home fans but it's reserved for the referee as Ollie Rathbone slides recklessly into a challenge on Ryan Hedges.

Thomas Kirk waves play on as Hedges stays down for lengthy treatment.

The Rovers man eventually gets back to his feet so expect a bit of stoppage time.

Sondre Tronstad has an effort blocked in the Wrexham box as Blackburn seek a much-needed response.

They still haven't forced Wrexham keeper Arthur Okonkwo into any serious action.

  12. Rathbone returns with a bangpublished at 13:11 GMT 1 January

I mentioned earlier how great it was to see Ollie Rathbone starting again, and what a performance he's put in so far.

That's a beautiful finish to double his side's lead.

It's a third goal in five league games for Rathbone since his return from injury.

    Unbelievable finish.

Again it's a set piece - take your hat off Ollie Rathbone.

He knows his mates are in the crowd and ready to give him stick, what a way to wind up your pals.

    The Blackburn fans aren't happy.

What a finish and Wrexham have their second!

Matty James free-kick fails to clear the first man, but Ryan Hedges makes a hash of the clearance, hooking it across the Blackburn box.

It's nodded back across the goal to Ollie Rathbone who lets it drop over his shoulder and volleys it superbly into the net from 10 yards.

  15. YELLOW CARDpublished at 36 mins

    Blackburn 0-1 Wrexham

A second Blackburn midfielder goes into the book.

This time it's skipper Todd Cantwell who tries to win back possession but plants his boot on Sam Smith's boot.

Ollie Rathbone again making things happen in the Blackburn final third.

He picks out Callum Doyle who is fouled by Lewis Miller near the left touchline.

Free-kick is headed out for a second Wrexham corner of the match.

George Thomason whips it in but it goes straight out for a goalkick.

  18. 'Blackburn lacking in midfield'published at 13:05 GMT 1 January

    Blackburn 0-1 Wrexham

    Kevin Gallacher
Former Blackburn striker on BBC Radio Lancashire

We don't look like we have a midfield at the moment, it's all over the shop.

They're not in sync with each other, they just look like individuals.

  19. In for the kill?published at 13:05 GMT 1 January

    Blackburn 0-1 Wrexham

    Ian Mitchelmore
    BBC Sport Wales

If Wrexham could get a second before half-time, it would be a very long way back for Blackburn.

This has been a very poor showing from the home side so far.

Ollie Rathbone is being afforded so much time and space on the ball.

  20. Postpublished at 31 mins

    Blackburn 0-1 Wrexham

Wrexham are seeking a third straight win to move closer to those coveted top six spots and are good value for their lead.

Ollie Rathbone runs right through central midfield and almost ghosts into the box. Positive run, but too easy from a home perspective.
