QPR returned to the top-half and are within two points of the play-offs after their win at Ewood Park.

Head coach Julien Stephan told BBC Radio London:

"It was a strange game to be honest.

"We start well and had some good approach in the first half, but we didn't take good decisions.

"At half-time we said the most important is to be focused and clinical in the second half. It was the case with a very good ball from Ilias Chair and a nice finish from Smythy."

"I don't forget at 0-0 that Paul [Nardi] did a great save which was a very important moment for us. I want to congratulate Paul because I took a difficult decision for him two games ago - I wanted to change the goalkeeper. He is a great person, a very good goalkeeper and he showed his qualities.

"Just enjoy the moment and be focused on the next game."

  3. Conceding set-pieces a concern from Pompeypublished at 22:46 GMT 26 November 2025

The Pompey boss was left disappointed after 3-0 defeat at Sheffield United.

Portsmouth are within two points of the relegation zone after their defeat at Bramall Lane.

Manager John Mousinho told BBC Radio Solent:

“For 40 minutes there was absolutely nothing in it, and that was the biggest disappointment. We had a game plan out of possession and thought we executed that very, very well, restricting Sheffield United to very little.

“We had so many opportunities in the final third to show more quality and we didn’t do that, after I watched a side with a huge amount of quality in the final third on Saturday.

“The red card comes from that. We sling a pointless cross into the box, [Michael] Cooper springs a counter-attack, we concede a corner, and the game changes from that point. Those fine details we need to get better at."

    On conceding from set-pieces:

“It’s something we’re concerned about. We lose the first contact, haven’t marked aggressively enough or well enough and you are going to get punished.”

Millwall boss Neil speaks with BBC's Ryan Matthews after their 1-0 victory at home

Millwall are up to fourth place in the Championship with their 1-0 win over Sheffield Wednesday.

Top scorer Femi Azeez returned to score his fifth goal of the season after coming on as a substitute in the second period.

Boss Alex Neil has told BBC Radio London:

"In the second half we created a lot of chances, they created one or two themselves but over the piece I thought we deserved to win.

"These games are not easy - they're a tough team to play against and play with an element of freedom as they have nothing to lose so we've then got to put a professional performance on and take the game away from them and eventually we did.

"We've won four out of five at home, we're fourth in the table with an injury list as long as my arm since the start of the season and it's just continued, so for the lads to be where they are, they deserve a huge amount of credit for that."

  5. 'I think Chris Davies will be pleased with the reaction'published at 22:43 GMT 26 November 2025

    FT: West Brom 1-1 Birmingham

    Darren Carter
Ex-Birmingham midfielder on BBC Radio WM

I think Chris Davies will be pleased with the reaction, with it looking like we could get the winner, but especially away from home they need to tighten up and address why the way they play away is so different to how they play at home.

I think the one thing we haven't said is the amount of times Blues have gone behind away from home, once Blues scored it's almost like it clicked, the passing was back, I don't know if it's a mental thing.

Going behind on the road is a big issue, they need to find a way to solve that.

  6. 'We weren't ourselves in the first half'published at 22:41 GMT 26 November 2025

    FT: West Brom 1-1 Birmingham

    Birmingham City

Birmingham City boss Chris Davies has praised the resilience of his side following their late equaliser to rescue a point after a disappointing start at The Hawthorns.

    He told Sky Sports:

“We weren’t ourselves in the first half. We were a little bit slow, there weren't really many chances within that half. It was fairly tight and we didn’t really find our rhythm until the second half and the usual kind of dominance that we have.

"We conceded a very scrappy set-piece goal and it put us right on the back foot so I think when you come to a place like this, a goal down, you haven’t started well, it takes a certain amount of character and resilience to stay in the game, bounce back and we got back in the ascendency in terms of the football.

"We suffered a few too many breakaways but we got back in the ascendency and I think we fully deserved to score and actually late on I was hoping we could get the winner. I think it’s a good point based on how the game went and the fact that this is a really tough place to come."

  7. 'I'm really unhappy'published at 22:38 GMT 26 November 2025

    FT: Wrexham 2-0 Bristol City

    Bristol City

Bristol City boss Gerhard Struber spoke to BBC Radio Bristol following their defeat in Wales:

    "I'm really unhappy.

"The first goal we conceded was too cheap. We had enough chances to put the ball in the net.

"We were not always top on our decision making.

"We were not on the level that you need away to pick up points."

    Tony Brown
West Brom's all-time record scorer on BBC Radio WM

Aune Heggebo led the line well, that's the best I've seen him play to be honest.

He was on his own quite a lot as well, Isaac Price didn't get up high enough for me, I think he's a terrific player, but he doesn't get up enough for me.

It's frustrating conceding late on again, they should be fit enough, they should be able to play for four hours with how fit they're supposed to be.

  9. 'It's another test passed for us'published at 22:30 GMT 26 November 2025

Sheffield United manager Chris Wilder saw his side see-off 10-man Portsmouth 3-0 to make it back-to-back wins and climb out of the relegation zone for the first time this season.

    He told BBC Radio Sheffield:

“A lot of people would be having a peek at us to see how we approached the game after an emphatic win on Sunday, and I thought the players were really good tonight, a lot of boxes ticked, another step forward, another test passed.

“It’s not always easy to play against 10 men but I told the players not to get bored of being a good player and doing the right things, and don’t get bored of being a decent team, and I thought we looked a decent team tonight.

“The direction of the game changed with the penalty and sending-off but you still have to go and earn the right and we did that.”

Henrik Pedersen reflects on Sheffield Wednesday's 1-0 defeat at Millwall.

Despite an eleventh league defeat of the season, Sheffield Wednesday boss Henrik Pedersen is pleased with how his side reacted after Sunday's derby defeat by Sheffield United.

    He's told BBC Radio Sheffield:

"The boys are back - we saw our boys with a big heart, fantastic mentality and worked really hard against a very good and strong opponent.

"We had big chances at important moments - we have to be better to score when we get the chances and we are working on it but the fundamentals to win football games is a top heart and top togetherness and the boys showed that.

"When we performed like that (Sunday) of course we spoke about it, we had to be honest about it and had a good meeting and the reaction was good."

  11. 'I'm proud of the players'published at 22:24 GMT 26 November 2025

    FT: West Brom 1-1 Birmingham

    West Bromwich Albion

West Brom were pegged back at home by Birmingham in the second half having taken the lead through Alex Mowatt.

Baggies boss Ryan Mason told Sky Sports:

"We conceded a set-play goal - but I'm so proud of the players' performance, I thought they were excellent.

"In the second half we had some big moments and at this level you need to make that count and be clinical and that's where we've had too many games this season where we've had opportunities to kill off games and take the game away from the opposition and haven't managed to do that.

"I've no doubt this group of players can change it."

  12. 'We're happy with how it finishedpublished at 22:20 GMT 26 November 2025

    FT: West Brom 1-1 Birmingham

    Birmingham City

Tommy Doyle provided the assist for Birmingham City's equaliser, he and Blues captain Cristoph Klarer have been reflecting on rescuing a point against West Brom.

    Doyle told Sky Sports:

"I think second half, yeah [we deserved a point]. The first half, we weren’t good enough but we’ll take a point here. it’s difficult sometimes to come here, the second half was much better than the first. We’re happy with how it finished."

    Klarer added:

“We couldn’t get any worse than we were first half. We need to be honest with that. After 60 minutes we really went up the gears and showed how much pressure we can put on good Championship teams. We were fortunate, they had a few counter-attacks when we were going for it, but the second half was encouraging.

"We know we need to improve but we dug deep and we got a point and that’s the most important thing."

22 touches in 63 minutes isn't an awful lot, but the one you can see in the goalmouth is one Patrick Bamford will not forget in a hurry.

It was actually closer than this graphic suggests, but when Bamford prodded home from inches out on 54 minutes it was his first goal since April 2024.

A lot of hard work and frustration came out in that celebration.

Ex-Birmingham midfielder on BBC Radio WM

I think Blues will be delighted to have got out of here with a point.

They were below par and I think West Brom have missed a massive opportunity to take all three points.

Blues pushed and had chances to win the game and that would have been so harsh on Albion, but I was disappointed with how Blues were with the ball, I think if I'm Chris Davies, I'd be delighted with a point tonight.

    FT: West Brom 1-1 Birmingham

    Tony Brown
West Brom's all-time record scorer on BBC Radio WM

We've seen what you expect in a local derby, a lot of passion, quality tackling, and nullifying the opposition players.

Albion will be disappointed, I think they defended quite well up until the goal, once again we are commentating and Albion have a problem with conceding late goals - until they can sort that out, they'll keep dropping points.

A point apiece in a West Midlands derby in which Birmingham only really came alive with 20 minutes go.

Up to that point it looked like Alex Mowatt's deflected first-half shot was going to win it for the home side.

But Marvin Ducksch headed in his third goal in two games to take a point for Chris Davies' team, which moves them up to ninth place, West Brom remain 17th.
