    Millwall 2-0 Oxford

    Steve Morison
Ex-Millwall and Wales striker on BBC Radio London

The game has started the exact same way the first half did - Millwall on the attack.

This should be a comfortable game from here on in.

    Wrexham 2-2 Middlesbrough

Wrexham have played 4,100 minutes of football so far this season and now they've got about 40 left to try to find the crucial goal that would send them into the play-offs.

    It's tense.

    Doing everything they can...

Femi Azeez at the double for the Lions.

Barry Bannan rolls back the years with some lovely play outside he U's box before slotting through for Zak Sturge on the left of the area.

His low cross is not cut out by the United defence and breaks to Azeez to lash high inside the near post to give the Lions some daylight.

They are relying on QPR now...

Very strange situation as a Derby fan to be cheering Boro on. For one day only……

    Andy, Derby

Proudest day of my and my son Leo's life. He is a SWFC mascot at Hillsborough today, walked out on to the pitch with Liam Palmer and he scored. WHAT A DAY FOR HIM!

    Daniel, Gleadless

As a Saints fan, I'd happily take Boro in a two-legged semi-final rather then Millwall. Plus, I think a Southampton-Millwall final would be a really good final. Either way the race for sixth place is an entertaining watch.

The final 45 minutes of the regular season are upon us in the Championship as we begin getting back under way.

Ipswich and Derby were the happiest in second and sixth at half-time but everything can change so quickly.

Ready? Us neither but here we go anyway...

  7. Wednesday have a future again...published at 13:34 BST 2 May

The past 12 months have been absolute hell for a lot of people associated with Sheffield Wednesday.

The number of late-night calls with various people expressing different emotions - despair, frustration, anger, confusion, helplessness, anxiety, sadness. This has tested many people.

On multiple occasions over the past few months it's even been questioned whether the club could survive another setback. That's how serious things got.

In a world of PSG 5-4 Bayern Munich, endless VAR drama, Chelsea sacking another boss and people wondering whether Arsenal will get over the line in the title race, it's probably been lost on many that one of English football's most recognisable clubs was on the brink.

So today, to be able to talk about a brighter future - or any future at all - is such a refreshing positive for so many people.

I can well imagine a few tears have been shed already. People have suffered terribly and, frankly, unnecessarily.

  8. 'Absolutely what the doctor ordered'published at 13:33 BST 2 May

    HT: Ipswich 2-0 QPR

    Mick Mills
Former Ipswich and England captain on BBC Radio Suffolk

This has been super from Ipswich. QPR had a bit more domination towards the end of the first half.

I would have liked us to have ended on the front foot, but it wasn't to be. It was all down to how Ipswich started, it was absolutely what the doctor ordered. We started fast, with quality and good efforts at net which got us the goals.

We could have gone up 1-0 before we actually did, it is the best football I have seen us play all season.

It is just a shame we let QPR come back at us towards the end.

  9. 'Perfect half for Ipswich'published at 13:32 BST 2 May

    HT: Ipswich 2-0 QPR

    John Southall
BBC Radio 5 Live commentator at Portman Road

You have to say it’s been the perfect half for Ipswich. All nerves and any apprehension was blown away in the opening nine minutes of the game.

If we’re to have any drama this afternoon, QPR have to offer more in the second half.

  10. As it stands - Ipswich up, Derby in play-offspublished at 13:31 BST 2 May

Ipswich and Derby fans would be happy to shake on it and call it at half-time you'd imagine.

As it stands, the Tractor Boys will be promoted to the Premier League and the Rams will snatch the final play-off place.

Both Wrexham and Hull are drawing and could yet still climb above Derby into the top six with a win.

It will require a major collapse at Portman Road to allow either Millwall or Boro to take second.

  11. Championship half-time round-uppublished at 13:28 BST 2 May

Sheffield Wednesday look set to end a truly horrible campaign on a high, currently 2-0 up at home to West Brom.

At the other end of the table champions Coventry lead Watford 2-0 at Vicarage Road courtesy of an Ellis Simms double.

Play-off bound Southampton are marching into the post-season off the back of a 19-game unbeaten run - Tonda Eckert's Saints lead Preston 1-0 at Deepdale.

Bristol City lead Stoke 1-0 after a first-minute goal from Delano Burgzorg, and it's 1-1 between Portsmouth and Birmingham City at Fratton Park.

Elsewhere, no goals at Ewood Park between Blackburn and already-relegated Leicester City, and Swansea v Charlton is also goalless at the break.

The cheers are almost as if Derby have scored their second [as Middlesbrough equalise against Wrexham]. Absolutely huge noise as the news filters through onto people's phones. They’re back in the play-offs as it stands.

Not enough and not good enough from Hull City.

Norwich completely on top and took the lead through Mohamed Toure's volley.

The lead lasted just two minutes as Joe Gelhardt took a tumble and Oli McBurnie converted the penalty.

The Tigers need to win to snatch that play-off spot.

    Job half done.

Town made an absolutely blistering start, with George Hirst turning home Leif Davis' close range cross after just 180 seconds and then Jaden Philogene rounding-off a flowing team move with a second just six minutes later.

QPR have grown into the game and asked some questions of the Town defence, but without a clinical edge in the final third.

Ipswich are 45 minutes from the Premier League, as things stand.

  17. Home win (finally?) hallelujahpublished at 13:20 BST 2 May

April 21st 2025 was the last time Sheffield Wednesday won a league game at Hillsborough, but on the day they had their latest takeover confirmed they could be about to end that barren run.

Nathaniel Chalobah and Liam Palmer have put the Owls 2-0 up against West Brom.

Defeat today would have seen them become the first side in the history of the EPL/EFL to go an entire campaign without a home win, but Henrik Pedersen's outfit look set to end a truly forgettable season on somewhat of a high.

    Derby 1-0 Sheff Utd

Derby fan checks his phoneImage source, PA Media

Derby into the play-offs as it stands thanks to a Sam Szmodics tap-in at the back post and a little luck elsewhere.

Sheffield United's weakness in set-pieces came to light once again as they failed to deal with the madness in the box before Jaydon Banel looped a ball into Szmodics to knock into the net.

The Rams were all over the visitors in the beginning of this match but the Blades had begun to look brighter towards the end of that half.

Things have to go well elsewhere of course but Rams have a decent chance for a late burst into the top six, they need to keep up their end in the second half to give the dream a chance of becoming reality.

  19. HALF-TIMEpublished at 13:19 BST 2 May

    Millwall 1-0 Oxford Utd

The Lions are doing what they need to do on the final day, but it's not in their hands.

Alex Neil's men have piled on the pressure in the opening half and came close through Thierno Ballo and Zak Sturge before Femi Azeez surged away to lash a glorious angled finish inside the near post of Jamie Cumming to raise the roof at The Den.

With Ipswich winning, as it stands the Lions are on course to finish third.
