Chance, after chance, after chance... after chance... after chance. And he's missed the lot.

Damon Heta must have thought the leg was his when he hit the 180.

  2. Cross one set from victorypublished at 14:22 GMT 28 December 2025

    Heta 0-3 Cross (2-3)

Heta can't find it, and Cross bangs in tops.

We may be into the endgame.

  3. Postpublished at 14:22 GMT 28 December 2025

    Heta 0-2 Cross (2-2)

Here we go, Damon Heta leads off with a 180. Can he steal this back?

Another T20, but he falls at the fifth. Still no nine-darter.

But Heta is first to a finish, 84. Cross then lands a maximum to leave tops. Over to you, Damon...

Damon Heta has just made an awful mess of this.

    Heta 0-2 Cross (2-2)

Both men are averaging more than 100 in this set. It is like the professionals have finally arrived.

However a visit of 50 from Heta - two in treble five - then another of 40 opens the door for Rob Cross to break back.

Cross has three at tops, but puts the first in singles. No matter, he lands D10 and will throw for 3-0.

    Heta 0-2 Cross (2-1)

    Commentator on Sky Sports

That is the first time that Damon Heta has jumped all over a Rob Cross mistake.

    Heta 0-2 Cross (2-1)

Damon Heta has not broken Cross' throw yet in this match. Can he do so here? He's found another maximum, as he has in every leg of this set so far.

But Cross is to a finish first, 63. But he misses two doubles, giving Heta a shot at 50...

And the Australian gets his double for a big break!

  8. Postpublished at 14:15 GMT 28 December 2025

    Heta 0-2 Cross (1-1)

Damon Heta has definitely improved - another maximum sets up a 160 finish.

He can't find that, and Rob Cross is on the Big Fish... not this time.

So Heta returns on 72, and finally nails a double.

    Heta 0-2 Cross (0-1)

Damon Heta only hit two of 12 darts at doubles in set two. Not good enough at this level.

But he's pinged in a 180 early doors in set three - responded to immediately by Cross!

Cross has the darts from the start of this set - and holds.

    Heta 0-2 Cross

It took Rob Cross 23 darts to win the final leg of that set.

He won't care though, while Damon Heta will need a major rethink.

That is daylight robbery. Absolute daylight robbery. Rob Cross won't be complaining though - he is somehow 2-0 up.

  13. Cross wins set twopublished at 14:08 GMT 28 December 2025

    Heta 0-2 Cross (2-3)

Cross has only averaged 85 so far in set two. If he wins it, that's a sickener for Damon Heta.

Both men are struggling to hit trebles in the decider, neither at their best so far.

Heta gets to a finish first - despite having 18 darts already - while Cross is well back.

18, 16... wide of D16. Chance for Cross?

Voltage takes his time before throwing at 86, and he sets up Bull... hits the wire and lands the wrong side!

But Heta misses another three at D16! This would be poor down the local pub.

Cross however steals the leg, and the set, and that could be a real killer for Heta.

As Laura says, Rob Cross hasn't carried on the strong form he showed in set one while Damon Heta is recovering after a weaker opening.

Cross goes for a Shanghai 120 finish - but blocks off T20 with a poor first dart.

Heta can't punish though, and we go to a deciding leg.

    Heta 0-1 Cross (2-1)

    Laura Turner
Ex-Women's World Championship quarter-finalist on Sky Sports

We are seeing what we've highlighted from both of these players in 2025 - there are those inconsistencies. There are peaks and lows.

  16. Postpublished at 14:01 GMT 28 December 2025

    Heta 0-1 Cross (2-1)

Rob Cross finds the first 180 of the match against the Heta throw, but the Australian bites back and finishes up with a 56 checkout.

    Much better from The Heat.

  17. Postpublished at 13:59 GMT 28 December 2025

    Heta 0-1 Cross (1-1)

A strange move by Rob Cross, who tries to travel the board to set up a finish but comes back with only 43. Damon Heta meanwhile lands a 138 visit against the head.

The Australian lurks on 75 while Cross again fails at the 170 finish.

Heta needs tops...missed! And even though he gets a second visit, he can't hit doubles and misses a massive chance to break.

Damon Heta leads us off in set two, a hold here for him would be much welcomed.

He misses a 142 finish, leaving Rob Cross on the Big Fish - nothing doing.

    Heta cleans up.

  19. What is the format from now on?published at 13:53 GMT 28 December 2025

    • Third and fourth round: Best of seven sets
    • Quarter-finals: Best of nine sets
    • Semi-finals: Best of 11 sets
    • Final: Best of 13 sets

Only in matches where players are level on sets and legs in the deciding set do players need to win by two clear legs.

    Heta 0-1 Cross

That was good stuff from Rob Cross. He was totally dominant. He was much the better player.
