    Humphries v Van Veen

Gian van Veen speaking to Sky Sports: "It's always great games between us, especially the last couple. You always have to play well against Luke, he puts you under pressure in every leg.

"I'm playing well, played well at UK Open. I'm feeling good and hopefully it [first night win] will come soon."

Luke Humphries speaking to Sky Sports: "I think the averages are decent with bad doubling. I'm not worried but it's just the finishing that's letting me down. I have to not think about it because it'll start panicking me and then get even worse.

"They're always close games and that's what creates a good rivalry. I'm enjoying playing him. I need to get to him early because he's very good on his doubles so I know the game plan."

Two of the three players yet to win a night in this year's Premier League meet as Luke Humphries takes on Gian van Veen.

Humphries has only won three matches so far, and is yet to reach a final. Last week 'Cool Hand Luke' thrashed Michael van Gerwen 6-1 before losing 6-4 to night five winner Jonny Clayton.

Van Veen has been the nearly man of the competition so far, reaching three finals but losing each one.

After bowing out of night five at the quarter-final stage, the 23-year-old suffered a last-32 exit at the UK Open the following day.

Humphries is world number two with Van Veen third, but it's the Dutchman who has won seven of the past nine meetings between the pair.

    Clayton v Van Gerwen

Jonny Clayton speaking to Sky Sports: "I respect Michael, there's not tactics, he just throws his darts. If things don't go his way, he never blames anything else. That's what I try and do because no one can help you if things don't go your way and I think that's why we have good games.

"We know we've got to pick points up. The earlier you do that, it's less pressure, it doesn't get any easier. I try and pick two points up each week and anything after that is a bonus. I'm really enjoying it."

Michael van Gerwen speaking to Sky Sports: "Me and Jonny always have good games. I also like him as a person. Behind stage we always make jokes.

"It's an important battle and I need to make sure I win the two points. Jonny is doing really well so I need to be up for it.

"There is still a long time left in this tournament, you need to play well week after week. I am playing Ok, but I know I can do better. Don't make mistakes and go for it."

  18. Quarter-final two: Clayton v Van Gerwenpublished at 19:44 GMT 12 March

After that thrilling start, it is table-topping Jonny Clayton who is next up and hoping to get back to winning ways after falling to a 6-4 defeat against Luke Littler in night five's final.

But seven-time champion Michael van Gerwen will be hoping to stop the Welshman in his tracks, having claimed one night win this year but not progressed to the semi-finals since night two.

Clayton, who is currently five points clear at the top of the table on his return to the Premier League after a two-year absence, will fancy his chances of making another final if he can ease past Van Gerwen.

That's because the winner of this quarter-final will face Stephen Bunting, who is currently second-bottom in the table, in the semi-finals.
