    Jonny Clayton Premier League stats

Why does Jonny Clayton enjoy a big lead at the top of the table? Quite simply he's been the best player at pretty much everything so far.

Behind only Luke Littler and Luke Humphries in terms of averages but he's been better than them on the doubles.

He's won the most legs and has the best legs difference but one stat that stands out is the huge 31 legs won against the throw - that's a massive number and miles ahead of the next best.

We probably don't make enough of the advantage of throwing first, so winning legs against the darts is a huge boost - and nobody comes close to Clayton so far in that regard.

  6. 'Totally different game to last week'published at 20:09 GMT 19 March

    Clayton v Humphries

Jonny Clayton talking to Sky Sports: "Luke [Humphries] missed chances last week in the final and I just kept taking my chances. That was the difference. Hopefully I get through tonight.

"He'll come out all guns blazing and it will be a totally different game."

  7. 'It is harder this year'published at 20:08 GMT 19 March

    Clayton v Humphries

Luke Humphries talking to Sky Sports: "Somehow it feels a little bit harder. There are heavier scorers and better people on the doubles so I do think it is a lot harder this year. You need to take your chances. Hopefully I can get myself in the top four.

"I'll need to put in a fully polished performance because he's one of the best players in the Premier League now and he's playing well."

Jonny Clayton only needs five or six more points and he'll be in the play-offs.

He's having it right off. He's been creating chances and he's been taking them.

Nobody in their right mind would have picked anybody but Luke Littler or Luke Humphries to be this far clear at this stage.

Time for our last quarter-final of the night.

Jonny Clayton thrashed Luke Humphries in Nottingham last week and a repeat of night six's final is on the way in the quarter-finals this evening.

Clayton has won all six of his quarter-finals this season and also won the night in Glasgow.

Nottingham's event saw Humphries reach the final for the first time this term, beating Gian van Veen and Luke Littler on the way.

The defending champion currently sits outside of the play-off places and will be looking to ignite his campaign.

Gerwyn Price can't take out 88 but he has time to return to hit double six to complete the whitewash!

Josh Rock just hates these Thursday nights, and that was a shocker from start to finish as he suffered his seventh defeat out of seven and his worst yet as he's hammered 6-0.

Price averages just over 103, hit two 180s and hit six of 13 doubles, while Rock also had two maximums but that was about as good as it got - averaging 84 and going 0-4 on the doubles.

He can't get out of Dublin fast enough.

  12. Price one away from victorypublished at 19:58 GMT 19 March

    Rock 0-5 Price

Both men hit 180s as Josh Rock finally gets a chance to get a leg on the board but he misses three darts at the double - all three loudly cheered by this Dublin crowd.

Price pops up and hits tops at the first time of asking to go one away from victory.

Gerwyn Price is making this look all too easy now as his average creeps up above 105 and again he's got all day to work his way to a checkout to go 4-0 in front.

It's quite uncomfortable viewing watching Josh Rock struggle right now.

There's no yelling or shouting from Gerwyn Price this week, he's all business and he's taking Josh Rock to the cleaners right now.

He hits the first 180 of the match to help set up another easy finish on tops as he's averaging over 100 to Rock's 80.

It doesn't matter for Josh Rock who he is playing.

He looked electrifying at the UK Open but it is a Thursday.

Until you win a game or two and get some points you're unable to relax and prove that you deserve to be here.

  20. 'The wins will come'published at 19:44 GMT 19 March

    Rock v Price

Gerwyn Price has been in great form this year but hasn't quite got his rewards in terms of tournament wins.

He has one Premier League night victory to his name and will fancy another back in Dublin where he won last year, beating Nathan Aspinall as well as the two Lukes Humphries and Littler.

And the 41-year-old believes the wins will start to come if he keeps playing like he is.

“I’m in a good head-space,” said Price. “You need a little bit of luck along the way to win tournaments, and I haven’t had that.

"If I’m playing well and losing, then fair play to the other player. “If I just keep doing what I’m doing and enjoy the game, the wins will come."
