There was a little knowing smile from Luke Humphries at the back of the stage after that leg.

Four perfect darts to begin the leg for Gerwyn Price. It was only heading one way.

He takes out 87 to finish with treble 17 and double 18.

That was an 11-dart leg.

Luke Humphries was a long way back, still on 242, so Gerwyn Price has the time to be able to set up tops.

He takes it out in one dart.

Two 180s in that leg for Gerwyn Price! He has already hit four in the match.

He sees off 35 with 11 and double 12 to take the lead after Luke Humphries misses a dart at tops.

There was a time when everything was routine for Luke Humphries, but nothing is routine for him on a Thursday at the moment.

The scoring phase of his game at the moment is as good as it has been but he is missing doubles and you can't do that against these players.

You can't keep relying on these two three-figure scores every time you play.

He is doing so much right though.

What. A. Match! Luke Littler was let off the hook again as Michael van Gerwen missed a third match dart when trying to take out 104 to dump out the world champ.

And Littler then produces a rare miss on double 10 but hits double five to escape with a thrilling victory.

It was a slow start to the match, but suddenly when the blue touch paper was lit it was truly explosive stuff - MVG finished with an average of 98.9, Littler 102.45, six 180s between them and of course those two maximum 170 checkouts.

Two big fish reeled in during one 11-leg match. Are you not entertained!

Stop that Luke Littler! The Nuke leaves his favourite finish on purpose yet again and you just knew, everyone in the arena knew, Michael van Gerwen knew, that the young man would nail it this time and he did just that.

And now we're going into a final leg decider!

Ouch! Sat on 91 Michael van Gerwen misses two match darts and Luke Littler isn't going to look that gift horse in the mouth as he takes out 74 to hold his throw and stay in the match.

Is that the chance gone for MVG?

Take a bow Michael van Gerwen! The big fish, the 170 checkout is reeled in by, the Dutchman to go one leg from victory.

Both men were actually sat on the maximum outshot and Luke Littler, who just loves the big fish, only just missed the Bull by an inch or so, but MVG showed him how it's done.

Littler loved that almost as much as the Dublin crowd - sublime arrows.

Brilliant from Michael van Gerwen as he nailed an 11-dart leg against the throw to break Luke Littler and take the lead!

After a so-so start Van Gerwen has gone out in 12 and 11 darts the last two legs to roll back the years - that's the MVG of old!

Michael van Gerwen has an answer in the next leg though, and that's a 106 checkout to level us up again.

It's been a mixed bag from the Dutchman so far with some very dodgy arrows but that was a clean finish to even the score after a 12-darter.

Luke Littler has just upped his game a notch now and takes out 50 for a 14-dart leg which on his own throw is far too hot for Michael van Gerwen to handle.

An average of just over 96 now for The Nuke who sensed this was the moment to attack and MVG didn't have an answer in that leg.

Luke Littler hits his first 180 of the match to make a move on the Micheal van Gerwen throw and makes no mistake to level us all up again.

That's what great players too - he's been a bit sluggish so far but just as MVG will have felt confident Littler hits him hard on his own throw.
