    Welcome to Wales, Gian.

You need to learn to win finals. Gian van Veen has won tournaments, but in the Premier League he's been getting to finals and losing. You get pretty fed up of losing and only picking up three points.

A steady start for Gian van Veen sees him take the first leg with a double 16.

Jonny Clayton will be disappointed with his darts in the opener - he hit 140 to set up a 161 finish but just couldn't see the leg out in his next two trips.

    Van Veen v Clayton

Gian van Veen and Jonny Clayton are ready to get this show on the road - and it's a top of the table tussle.

We've had two polar opposite walk-ons in the form of Johnny B. Goode and Astronomia.

Let's see what this second quarter-final has in store for us... the crowd are in very good voice tonight!

Gian van Veen will be happy to get to finals but he'll be thinking he needs to win some of them. There's no point being in the final if you're not going to win.

But it is a nice place for his game to be in.

He's really going to put fear into the players when he starts winning nights.

Jonny Clayton is just very good at winning games.

I like the players who don't have to play that well to win. He's winning in different ways.

He understands and knows that it is not about this week or maybe next week, it is about an accumulation of weeks.

Jonny Clayton thinks it would be amazing to meet fellow Welshman Gerwyn Price in the final in Cardiff.

The Ferret sits top of the standings after four weeks and is on the opposite side of the draw to Price this evening.

Both Welshmen have won a night in this year's competition, with Price triumphing on night two in Antwerp and Clayton on night three in Glasgow.

"Two Welsh boys in the final, that would be amazing," he told BBC Sport Wales. "Obviously me picking up a trophy would be a little bit better!

"But hopefully we can do it and fingers crossed we meet in the final."

Clayton added that he is excited to return to Cardiff after missing out on the previous two years of the Premier League Darts: "I'm back in and I'm back in Wales playing. That's all I want, my favourite tournament in my favourite city.

"There's no better support than the Welsh. It's going to be exciting with the singing and chanting - they will all be behind us for a change."

Gian van Veen and Jonny Clayton are next up on the oche at Utilita Arena - and it is sure to be a tasty encounter.

Clayton comes in sitting pretty at the top of the Premier League standings, having won all four of his quarter-final matches so far and having taken overall victory on night three in Glasgow.

The Ferret will arrive in Cardiff with plenty of self-confidence and, as a Welshman, he will be hoping to show his mettle in front of his home crowd.

Premier League debutant Van Veen will be keen to do everything in his power to spoil Clayton's homecoming though, after reaching three of the four finals so far.

It is the Dutchman's chance to get his get back after falling to a 6-2 defeat against the Welshman in night three's final. So, best believe he will be laser-focused on making night five his night.

    Result: Van Gerwen 1-6 Humphries

Luke Humphries worked himself up to an average of 96.21 by the end of that contest, solid but well short of what he is capable of.

What won it for him was his work on the outer ring. He ends with a 54.55% checkout percentage, going six from 11. Top stuff.

By contrast, Michael van Gerwen averaged just 92.36 and only had two darts at double, hitting one.

    Breaking

    Van Gerwen 1-6 Humphries

    Job done for Luke Humphries.

Clinical display from the Englishman despite not being at his best for much of that contest.

There were boos when he opted against going for the 161 checkout with Michael van Gerwen not down to a checkout, instead going for the 129 set up to leave double 16.

But it's the smart play and he hits it on his next visit to book his place in the semi-finals.

  18. Humphries closing inpublished at 19:32 GMT 5 March

    Van Gerwen 1-5 Humphries

Two missed darts at double from Luke Humphries give Michael van Gerwen the chance to salvage a hold.

He fails to take it, Humphries - who had earlier hit the first 180 of the night - comes back to hit double four and move a leg from victory.

These two met in the quarter-final stage in Cardiff in 2025 as well, with both players averaging more than 100 in a 6-4 win for Michael van Gerwen.

Neither is averaging over 93 on this occasion, but Humphries will not mind one bit.

Luke Humphries moves three legs clear with an 85 checkout.

Top stuff from the Englishman after MVG had closed in with a 140 to leave 78.

Cool Hand is two legs away from just his third Premier League win of the year.
